amazing science fcition, fantasy and mystery series i must return to

i've been going ebay crazy, after remembering how much i loved Jonathan Carroll's novels - buying up 1990s paperbacks i know iread back then but now want to reread. This led me onto thinking about series i left off half way through over the years - Frank Herbert, Julian May, Charles de Lint, A C Crispin... How long is too long to return to these worlds?

It's great to see you talk about Jonathan Carroll, I really like his books, and you don't see him being talked about much on Booktube.
As to "Heretics of Dune", it's been a long time since I read it but I remember not enjoying it or the last Dune book "Chapter House of Dune" as much as the previous books.
Saga of the Exiles is well worth finishing, though "Intervention" has sat on my shelves unread for years!

They still toast moles; " to the man in the black velvet waistcoat" a mole chiefly responsible for getting rid of King Billy . That aside ; it's beautiful weather up here ; just right for a corner under a tree with a good book . I am on the last three pages of your contributions to the writing course ; I will at some point go back and read the other's contributions . My next book is the local author one Christopher Rush and then I pick up The Snowgoose on Tuesday from the library ; inter - library loan . To hot to do much but enjoy reading and a bit of gardening in a very large hat.

I heard that Jonathan Carroll is getting a fair bit of his backlist republished in the US (mostly ebook but some in paper) and it is well-deserved as he is definitely under-rated.
I only have 8 of his novels (some in the same edition as you have). However I do have a couple of them as UK first ed. hardcovers - Outside The Dog Museum and The Marriage of Sticks.
I think Carroll definitely has some books which are a bit closer to the mainstream than others - especially outside the Answered Prayers Sextet.

I cannot recommend the Duncton books enough. I read them once a decade as a treat to myself. They are hard to recommend to people-Moles making EPIC journeys against a backdrop of religious war, persecution and revelation. Moles!
