His grandfather was born in the Appalachian mountains and the mountains have their own musical sound that Oliver (Chris) embodies to honor his grandfather. I know because I grew up in Appalachian mountains myself. Going on this journey with Chris has made me homesick for the mountains of southwestern Virginia.

Blessings to you. Bluegrass has been speaking to my soul the older I get and I love playing this style on guitar. There’s something transcendental about it speaking from the past.

If you listen to his interview with Joe Rogan, he got his musical interest from his grandmother who was in a band. She listened to the old country music which influenced him. So shout out to grandma!

His grandfather, Oliver Anthony, was from the nearby mountains, and this is the roots of the mountain music that Chris has named his music channel after; Oliver Anthony Music. His name is actually Christopher (Chris) Anthony Lundsford.

That's a certified bonified Hill climbing car .. Great in the mud and snow .. Southern engineering at its best .. As far as the music , most of it is played without drums and electric guitars ... Heck my grandfather made his own guitar .. People used what they had to entertain themselves ... I call this some good ol Southern country soul ... This is FIRE 🔥

I lived outside of Roanoke VA. For 41 years rural its quite a beautiful area. Forest and wildlife
Slow and friendly. Wonderful people. Good Ole country boys-black and white. I have moved to suburban area 50 miles outside of DC to be near family. Night and day but adjusting. My State song from now on.

I’d call this soul and blues music. Also very populist. Just because of the instrument and his accent doesn’t change that. Also, I think we don’t hear this soulful music as much anymore because the music industry doesn’t allow it. The music industry puts out sounds preaching CONSUMERISM which of course benefits the large corporations who also control DC.
So I think people are shocked to hear this kind of music in 2023 after decades of having mainstream music controlled.

Bluegrass (modern style mountain music) that came about in the ‘40s in the Appalachian region. It’s country, with a distinct sound which got its name after Bill Monroe’s band, “The Bluegrass Boys”. It has more of a high pitched tenor, high energy & fast tempo. It’s more of an acoustic string band sound with; a guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle & upright bass.
Bill Monroe is known as the “father of Bluegrass”. Other true bluegrass artists are; Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, Soggy Bottom Boys.
Bluegrass tends to have more of an acoustic “picking” sound. It’s known more for its fast tempos, intricate instrumental solos, and tight vocal harmonies.
Country music uses steel guitars, which have a more smooth sound, and tends to be slower and more focused on the lyrics and vocal performance.
Folk music is telling a story with a song that doesn’t involve instrumental solos like bluegrass does.

He plays a resonator guitar witch a lot of old blues guys played up in the hill and a sound of folk and country music with his voice and the way he sang it with passion it all together it’s a new sound and man is it good I could listen to it over and over looking forward to a lot more of this music

People are calling it "Appalachian" trying to put a fine point on it, but that's missing the mark, IMHO. It's really just American folk music. And here he's getting a little bluesy.
OA has said he is from Farmville which is in the Piedmont region of Virginia -- not the Appalachian hills.

This has to be my favourite Oliver song so far. It has a relaxed, natural style that tells a simple story of how his landscape speaks to him and is in his bones. I think Oliver has the feel of an early Woody/Arlo Guthrie in style, in that he is a real story teller. I like how he’s strumming away so gently too and not drowning out the track or over powering the lyrics.

This guy is like a throwback to folk singer's like Woody Guthrie from years ago.
Even early Bob Dylan. Before he sold his soul. Those are his own words. He said in an interview.
There are many more that were not so famous. Who sang songs about life as it was then.
I saw that he was offered $8mil from a label & he didn't sell. If it's true that make him real & genuine to me.
