That's me!! Thanks so much for checking out the video Sam, means a lot and hope you guys in the comments enjoy it too, I do all sorts of OW stuff on my side of the channel so I'd love to see you all and hopefully one day sam drop by too. Once again, thanks, much love and thanks for the valuable commentary on some things I tried to say and you added on what I actually meant. :D
The fact that Genji continuously received unwarranted nerfs during the beginning of Overwatch 2 while Sojourn was deliberately left unchecked and OP for her entire lifespan is insane. These devs have a vendetta against projectile DPS and it's pretty damn obvious.
What's crazy to me is that they could bring back a lot of players if they would just make genji and mercy strong again. Like... it is what it is. No these heros aren't always fun to play against but they have been popular since launch for a *reason*. If Blizz really cared about the future success of ow, this is an obvious choice for the dev team (and bringing back 6v6 obv)
That’s what I was thinking. Characters like Genji and Venture (she got gutted off rip) get nerfed so hard. And yet bullshit characters like Soujourn and Kiriko get slaps on the wrist and continue to fucking ruin whatever game they’re in Genji having a good meta for once? That’s a fucking issue. Kiri with her bullshit cleanse and get out of jail free card tp? nahhh it’s aight
I've never been a high level player in overwatch but honestly after playing recently after so many years coming from overwatch 1 I genuinely thought to myself "why even pick a character that needs to aim at this point"
Remember when Genji was considered an “assassin” hero. Now you just sit back and hope for an opportunity to get a dash reset. Somehow, even with less tanks peeling, backlines survive stronger than ever before.
honestly hes been pretty bad since the nerf in season 1 of ow2 but the hp increases have just completely killed the character u can never solo kill anyone now unless the enemy is just completely braindead but ig hes usable in low elos so hes still not buffed lol
@@joeschipper6465 that for a fact is so true, sometimes i just login in my low elo alt accont just to have a litle bit of fun with genji and not to just press ult and every imaginery CC gets on me. TBH at this point put genji in tank category like they did with doom
"genji is not worth the effort".. thats the best sentence in the whole video. U can play any other dps, and it feels ez mode to do preassure and be scary. Genji gets your 100% to be mid.
@funnyvalentyne3029 nah he was just a hero where his viability in the meta was dependent on other heroes, like when he became like an A tier hero when Mauga released despite not getting touched balance wise
For sure, theres a growing trend of game devs just being inexperienced or straight up bad at their own games. And most people know that Genji is really oppressive to new players and they think he's op. I have a friend who isn't bad at the game but he's pretty new, around gold/plat level and he thinks genji is just op sometimes because someone in quickplay shits on him. It's crazy.
I'm just genuinely so sick of the current way genji has to be played, I feel like his skill ceiling was lowered so much due to nanoblade not even being able to slash dash anymore and the oneshot combo not doing enough damage to actually oneshot anymore, I was a Genji main since Season 10 of Overwatch 1 but the hp pool increase made me turn into a tracer/cass player because its just not even fun anymore to play the hero
It is genuinely fucking insane how I have 700+ hours on genji. Maybe 200 on cass and yet cass just farms lobbies. When genji I’m sweating my fucking nuts off for 1 kill.
@@ducasse8473 Target the target your hitscan is playing, finish with a dash in dash out. Think of a fishing lure, you toss it out and then flick it immediately back lol If you start to duel a low target, the supports will push a button and negate everything you do. Blade is more for chasing down an isolated target, cant much use it in a team fight if you dont have nano or overhealth from Lucio beat
Getting more blade kills because you have more blades is not as fun as getting a good 2-3 blade every time with a good chance to get more. Worst nerf to an entirely skill based hero.
funny thing is Shi (し) can mean death (死) (same pronunciation) and Mada can mean not yet so Genji Shimada isnt really living up to its name rn cause he's dead af 😔
Genji requires you to have three easy to hit/kill characters on the enemy team or you lose. Moira/Mercy? Swap. Moira/Brig? Swap. Mei/Reaper? Swap. Its too easy to run into a teamcomp that you cant do well against. There‘s also maps that suck for genji. There‘s too many situations where he sucks.
and even the rare few cases every probably 100 games where its actually playable theres 10 other characters who can just do his job better and easier lol
@@roxas13keyblade65Moira doesn’t have to understand the matchup to be a natural counter. Her mobility has more range and a shorter cooldown, she self heals with her basic attack, changing breakpoints, and she also has a skinny hitbox so it makes it harder to hit the spread shot. Not to mention deflect is basically useless against Moira
The fact Genji blade is a 3-hit but Cassidy can 2-tap someone with one headshot and one bodyshot is simply out to lunch. I have no idea what the balance team is doing, but it has left the game in a bad spot.
A lot of supports like to cope and say "Just bait cooldowns and then use blade" (Or really when it comes to anything at all). However, if the only counter to an ability like suzu, lamp, or life grip is to "bait it" (I.E. the ability itself isn't being used anyway) then clearly there's something wrong with the ability. It's the same with the support hero themself. If the only "reliable" counter to a support hero like Kiriko is to "just kill them" (I.e. Them just NOT being there) then clearly that hero is horribly designed and unhealthy. Especially for a hero like Kiriko, who is extremely difficult to kill when her kit is so unbelievably bloated and overcompensated while being relatively easy. On top of that, she has a tiny hit box, her arms blocking her head hitbox, faster wall climb than even Genji, the best ultimate in the game that can't be interrupted or counterplayed, and the fact that she has 250 HP now, despite already being the most busted and meta support in the game for 10 seasons straight.
I personally believe that abilities that deny death, outside of maybe tank abilities, should have a negative effect applied to the players after the fact like reduced healing, increased damage taken, or something similar to make sure there is still a window of opportunity that can be exploited. This way they can keep the power of being able to prevent death while still offering a counterplay option by committing again after the ability wears off. I don't know how this would play out but at least there is a downside unlike how it is right now.
@jacobbaartz7710 I said abilities that deny death, so heal station, roll, and deflect are by definition not included. It's hard to say about the dps abilities because they are used almost exclusively as an escape as opposed to support abilities being used to deny abilities and plays. For the most part if the support abilities are balanced correctly then the dps ones wouldn't need to be nerfed as well. It's the stacking of these types of abilities that really make the game feel bad. Start with the support abilities and expand to dps abilities if needed. I would not be opposed to some of those heroes getting slight debuffs after using those abilities
@@metal100k The reason y'all DPS players will never be happy is because you feel the other roles owe their life to being your fodder, by default. We don't have that game because Blizzard knows that players won't play the fodder role for you. I understand, lamp is super aids. Kiriko as a character is extremely nimble (and I think swift step is the real problem). But overall I would bet that deflect denies more damage overall than cleanse does. It's not that you care about death denial, it's that these TH-camrs like to conflate terms like "invulnerabilities" as globally bad. Wraithform is a far longer invuln than cleanse. Beyond counterpicking, deflect is a 2-3 second invulnerability. "Teleport through walls" how long have tracer and Sombra been in the game? We lean too hard into loading these terms, when we should be asking and comparing what the problem is. "Yeah but high risk, high reward" High risk means you'll lose most of the time, you understand that right? And I'm all for working on stuff that's inflammatory even if it's statistically not a problem, like cleanse with the TP bombs, and ease of ult countering, but y'all are never going to think about a solution by intuition pumping all this crap onto stuff that really isn't that bad.
Exactly suzu didnt exist this is ow1 and genji felt good. He felt like you earned every kill but it was PAINSTAKINGLY DIFFICULT to get one kill as opposed to moria; she can throw an orb and hold fire and kill the majority of characters in less than 2-3 seconds 😭
Genji being nerfed into the ground and buried 40ft deep is what made me stop playing because its actually not possible to consistently climb on him u will get stuck
Yeah genji has been underpowered for almost the entirety ow's history, 1 and 2, and all the new heroes were always strong against genji. And i think the reason is that they don't want him to be too popular, and they don't want for the player base to have too many genji players. We don't really know how many mercy mains stuck to the game just because they can switch to moira and ruin a genji's day if he's doing too well, though i certainly see such players regularly.
OMG i'm crying, it was so much betterrrrr. Now you blade and its just the worst. It always hurts my heart to see OW1 clips. Like Sam and many other say, there was play making ability. The game is fun when high skill characters have value. I was never mad about high skill Genji's, or Doom (DPS) that could just dominate with execution. Getting dominated by Genji made me want to learn him.
Not only that but give them two movement abilities, one that makes them invincible and then give them an ult that gives them an extra 75 health for some reason.
@@KingYahtzee Hog hook was a combo. If he hooked without ammo or got booped mid combo then the victim could survive. His right click was the true one shot.
Genji doesn't need buffs, he needs the game to be balanced so he can actually play the game and compete against the other heroes. He's not underpowered, other heroes are just over kitted.
Well that's never changing and it hasn't changed for the past 8 years, so I'd take some simple number change buffs over something that will never happen. You can't balance bad hero design just look at roadhog or orisa, you can balance good hero design which genji is.
no he used to be a year or 2 ago but since the hp buffs hes definitely underpowered nearly all of his breakpoints are ruined now and most other characters still have a similar ttk or were buffed to compensate
Real. I WAS a gm genji/Rat duotrick but ever since season 9 I probably log an hour or two a month. Getting countered by the hero select screen is NOT a fun gameplay loop. In the past it was tolerable. Just meant I needed to lock in harder. NOW??? borderline impossible. Everything and Everyone gets away with 20-40hp. the ttk was ruined by making it longer in a damn near decade old game where the playerbase is only getting better.
all they gotta do is fix his bugs and increase his shuriken and blade dmg. but then again these are the same people that buffed sojourn even after she was meta since the release of OW2
Good lord, just seeing the difference in gameplay between the clips of OW1 and OW2 makes me so sad. Genji used to have OPTIONS, and now his only option is tickle people until blade, and then tickle them a bit harder.
Half the time when I play genji and im playing against anyone with an immortality ability or an ult that hard counters mine, I literally just don’t blade because them using that cooldown/ult is tremendously more detrimental to them than using arguably the worst ult in the game is for me. I’ll ult watch as they waste every cooldown on me, and they lose the fight and just laugh and ask, “was is worth it lol”. I understand there’s value you can get out of it and it’s not IMPOSSIBLE to get kills with, but bro it’s just not a fun experience almost ever.
As soon as season 9 hit most of the long standing TikTok/YT genjis quit entirely. While I definitely enjoy having less competition in the algorithm it’s definitely a huge red flag if you nearly entirely wipe out an entire subset of the games community. When I ask them why they stopped I get the same answer “he’s not fun anymore” not only is the new blade worse in almost every situation, but it’s just not as fun holding left click with no brain activity as it was zooming through the whole fight. On top of that they removed the prodigy combo one shot right as it was getting popularized, and that was the most satisfying thing to pull off in the entire game. I won’t be quitting genji, but I understand all those old greats who have.
It's Hilarious that It's Not a No Brainer for People that the Following Things Objectively Lower the Skill ceiling, Depth and Integrity of a Competitive game - - Universal Health Increase for No Reason - Projectile size Increase so that Worse Players Can Have Better Accuracy stat instead of Actual Reflection of the player - Universal Passive heal - Getting HP for Absolutely Free which Lowers the Meaning of Actual Duels/fights - Garbage like Cod - Being Casual this is On top of the Mountain of Low IQ Decisions
I stopped playing since season 4. Season 9 surely made me stay away from OW forever for how much they ruined genji. There's a reason that someone like even necros played significantly less in season 9
I remember in Ow1 you used to have a game every now and then that was just amazing; it was fun, close, and intense and it is what would make you always want to come back to ow and play more-those games are non-existant now
Necros said it best whenever he pops off he said “now i just have to do this every match” meaning you need to play perfect if the enemy is competent at all
Two of my favorite experiences in overwatch were genji/tracer dive and zarya/winston duoing with my friend. Both experiences dont exist anymore for different reasons and thw gameplay loops they provided were the best overwatch had to offer.
I was a masters genji OTP and about a plat hitscan. Ever since blizzard didn’t account for the hp increase adequately when it comes to genji and increased hitscan projectile size I consistently rank higher and perform better on hitscan. I feel like that should say a lot.
I got 3 4-5 man gravs yesterday. People also understand and play the game better, so they can anticipate those plays and adjust. Getting a 2 kill blade is still good value
@@OLONOODLE How are you getting big gravs if you're saying people "understand and play the game better, so they can anticipate those plays." I wasn't saying it's impossible to get a big grav or 3k+ riptire but it happens far far less than it did in OW1.
What enrages me is they buffed HP looks but didn’t scale genjis ult. If someone is getting healed at all it takes 5 sword hits to kill them. Also deflect has been bugged for ages and doesn’t work properly or consistently
Honestly at this point in OW2 I just use blade as a combo extender. I feel like set up blades unless you get nano AND team pressure you will just get CC’d or enemies will slip away with mobility creep. So instead, just whip it out in an advantaged duel then try to get 1 other elim from it. Sometimes that will extend to 2 or 3 more even, but just confirming the first kill and having 5 seconds to go for the next is enough imo. Still not a good hero but it’s hilarious how in 5v5 it feels less powerful. That speaks loudly to the hero design they are still running with.
i have like 5k hours on genji. i 2nd most things abby said here. cant even play the game anymore. for me idc what they do, but nano blade not slash-dash killing ruined the whole game for me tbh.
Yea the slash dash kill was only good thing about him and half of the time it wouldnt work now due to imorts and movement if we had old nano blade it wouldnt change much and thats saying sumt
@@IsThatKris Personally I'd be perfectly fine with the original hitboxes if I could just one shot again, like all the widow lobby admins I keep seeing. I say reward skill, the fact that I got good hitting those shots should be rewarding, but no apparently lets just make shots easier to hit but useless.
@@JBUSEin what world is a 240 headshot useless? Your support could breathe on them and they’d die. They literally have 10 hp left. And it’s gonna take either a lot of support attention to get them back to full OR, they are out of the fight.
@@MetroBreezyy Lmao dude did you get that mad over that? Bro left two separate comments because I said that lmao. Maybe useless isn't the word but it was to make a point. Many times, especially at range, (remember Hanzo used to be a sniper) enemies are indeed able to get a quick heal or bail out before theres time for a follow up shot, even with storm arrow. And if you're expecting teammates to follow up before you, good luck unless you're grouped. I was just making the point that Hanzo is indisputably way worse off now, much like Genji.
I remember when I used to quake in my boots when I heard the enemy's dragonblade. Actually was so much fun anticipating it/countering it. Now it's a joke of an ultimate.
People blame brig, but its more than that. Its power creep. The healing creep, then immoralities, the ubertanks in 5v5, and finally the season 9 changes, which heavily favor hitscan.
i think the should bumb up the shurikin dmg back up to 30 wich would mean u can kill a squishy by dash full rightclick and meelee wich we all know is extremely hard to do this dmg would make it that genji is actually doing something troughout the game. make the dragonblade slower again but bumb up the damage to 130 so u can 2 swing a normal squishy and can dash swing dash a 300hp target and so u can slashdash with nano or dmg boost again but restrict his ammo to 24 but make the reload a litle bit faster as its now. this will help genji feel better and actually be viable again but he wont be OP bcs there is still to much that counters him and to many bad matchups
Yea the first month after genji change and even now sometimes the muscle memory is so messed up now. So many times I’ll double swing someone and already flick to the next target but the first one never died. And that millisecond window I looked away they already faded out or tp or some Bs
Those collection of clips in the beginning made me miss OW1 so much , there were so many big pop off hype moments in OW1 gameplay, and was extremely exhilarating and amazing
"EQO WHAT A PLAYER WHAT STAR!" will forever be stuck in my head. I loved that play so much. Sadly they lost, but damn he put it all out there to give them a shot. That patch was so much fun to watch in OWL.
What do you think about blade causing bleed? That might be an interesting change that makes sense since he is swinging a katana! Right now the katana feels so weak. I also wonder what it would be like if he could swing blade and still shoot shuriken. That would be neat. You could just press Q to swing the blade… On another note, autoheal feels like a natural change but the issue is still having 2 healers. Having so much healing just makes it so that opponents can just stay in a fight for so long without having to leave for a health pack. The balance team lost their mind.
I have always found weird how the metal ninja doesnt have armor. I think they should give him 50 armor and a slight damage buff. He struggles too much surviving engagements as a duelist

it is really difficult to defend overwatch 2 at this point, i'm actually shocked some people still try to find ways to defend THIS. I was never a good genji player or liked fighting against him all that much, but at least he was generally as viable as other heroes. Overwatch 2 throws that out of the window and the devs have not changed anything about the game now even after not having kotik call the shots, so i'm done with hoping for any change for the better. That game is done and the devs will not change their ways. If they do not learn, let them fall, so MAYBE they might change some things. I'm out of patience. I'll still support Samito here, but personally i see no reason to ever return to the game anymore.
I'm so glad to see one of the bigger creators talk about this. Since OW2 came out I hear "Genji is okay/good Genji players are just whining", even from top500 players who should know better, cuz the consensus for a majority of the time has been the opposite. The Moira duel for instance, 100% true. Before s9 I'd fight Moira, even though it was in her favor if I played well enough or she made a mistake I could win...now? nah I actually just avoid her, she just wins it in most cases no matter what I do. Been saying it for months, Genji has been a C tier hero since season 3, full stop. Even when he was performing well and people said "oh he's really good right now", it wasn't because Genji was good, it's because his enablers were. Brig made Genji good, he wasn't on his own. There was a season where I stopped playing Genji because Tracer was objectively just "better Genji" and there was no situation or match-up where Genji had the edge. Genji's a high skill floor & ceiling hero, but for the longest time his risk to reward hasn't been remotely even. I sometimes risk so much just for even picking Genji, but my reward for hundreds of hours on this skill expressive hero is being countered by the most accessible least skill expressive heroes in the game, when I could've gotten more and easier obtained value from basically anyone else. "I have to play perfectly, or else I get no/negative value." is something I've said, AbbyOW2 said, and many other Genji players say. I have never said that while playing anyone else. Extra: The way they went about addressing oneshots, hurt non-oneshot combo burst heroes. This is why even Echo, a consistently A tier hero, is struggling a bit now and is getting outperformed by Pharah, because Flank/Assassin style heroes didn't have their breakpoints adjusted after everyone got more HP. I thought "Nerf Genji" becoming a meme would be the push to make them change...but clearly they hate him, and it's all an echo of them clearly not caring about 1 of their most popular heroes.
The game has been band-aid fixed to the point Overwatch influencers are jumping ship on the game and people are still out here defending 5v5 like it's the promised land. It feels like the game is on the verge of being shelved by the higher ups because pf the lack of interest. Even if it's not what everyone wants, 6v6 would at the very least get people talking about this game again.
I hate how genji was a victim of the Devs trying to please everyone so they nerfed him because bad players got destroyed by him which is what happened to venture. honestly it strips character identity when they do this
Lets face it: devs wanted Dive dead in OW1 when they made brig, then it happened again in season 1 ow2 - supports had no idea how to play this new game and devs killed dive again so that supports can play the game. These days they think oneshots are unfun, so they killed half of them, while other half still works and the variety of the game suffered even more as a result.
12:50 But they also increased the attack/swing speed so its dps is way higher than in OW1. What I mean is that you can not compare OW1 blade with OW2 blade by damage. You have to compare by with ttk.
Let's be real if this is "*the worst state Genji has ever been in*" then he is doing very well. Still in the Top 5 for BOTH pick and WIN rate across all ranks and was picked quite a bit during the OWCS. I think the real problem is unfun cheese heroes to play against (Moira, Torb, Hog) and immortality abilities like LW Pull, Lamp, Suzu. I'd be good with Genji getting a shuriken dmg buff or blade dmg buff, but there is WAAAY too many dramatic statements being used to describe the state he is. When my heroes are in a bad state they are very much are unplayable. Their win rate bottoms out and throwcusations get said even before even leaving the spawn doors. There are a lot of heroes that would gladly trade places with the state Genji is in right now. Also, on the point of projectiles he fans 3 out ...that alone makes them easier to hit than most of the projectile cast. I get he is not as fun to play right now, but the dramatic statements to describe his state is eye roll worthy at best.
"The best play when you use blade is to back off" The amount of times I've literally popped blade just to bait out other ults like Beat or Transce because I noticed the Lucio and Zen holding it for me. I love not being able to use one of the funnest ults in the game.
sadly alot of heros have got hurt but id love to know from other rein players do you think rein would come back and be generally fine if he dropped the ability for fire strikes and just made them happen off missed swings so for example if you don't hit an enemy with a melee or an enemy isn't right up your ass rein would throw out a firestrike the reason I think this might be a good change is because of his lack of range makes him generally unpickable outside of cqb maps this could be a good change to bring him up to other heroes you could also make fs slower to make it harder to hit so balance wise he could still land them but its more about spam over accurate the idea would need to be talked and ballenced but it could make rein more viable
I started playing this game in early 2019 and knew I wanted to play Genji, unfortunately I stopped playing him around 2021 because I feel he just always got countered but till this day, he's still basically my second most played hero .
you know genji is bad when he is actually better off not popping blade when he gets nano and just relying on right clicks, melees and dashes while he has nano...
A lot of people in these comments saying Genji's skill cieling is lower now or that he doesnt get impact anymore. Did we not just watch Proper and Heesang going at it on Genji in pro play less than 2 weeks ago with some incredible moments.
Proper and Heesang were under the exact situation Abby preached in the video, ultra pocketed by their team and hard enabled, he even did a VOD review about Proper and how effectively his team enabled the Genji pick, but the average player isn't proper/heesang, nor should you need 4 people dumping resources and setting you up for success for the hero to work.
I think one of the things that is overlooked the most is that the player base is closer to the skill ceiling than it ever was so there's less room for deflected gravs and outplays when in unfavored match ups. Not saying the devs are good but the player base being good changes a lot more than people think.
when i started playing Overwatch back in 2018 i thought Genji was so cool you have this dash and the deflect is so cool and dont get me started on blade i used to be gold and even peaked low plat now 5 years later a at high master low gm and find my self in a spot where Genji is useless to me right now and those hours in ghost dash and blade training are useless, with only 30 hours on heros like Tracer,Ashe,Sojourn like heroes i dont really play i find my self outperforming my Genji easily with no effort and thats such a frustating feeling that a hero you put in my case 530hrs in. cant climb with my hero you know the hero that made me fall in love with this game that i always just need to swap to this or that or im dead weight with genji.
I have roughly 400 hours on Genji since OW1. I am not a one-trick, however I do prefer to play him whenever available because he is such a fun character. Because the last few seasons, i've been flexing more to Echo in matchups where I felt Genji could be viable simply because the risk to reward ratio on Genji is so high, and I have to be playing very well in order to receive base value. My Echo is not very great, I have about 15 hours on her, but my value on her comparatively is way higher because taking duels feels so much easier on her. I wish Genji felt better to play, and it's primarily due to the synergies and abilities supports have now that make my neutral, and ultimate feel highly irrelevant. Hoping for some genji love soon
i don't like that in ow2 theres so much hero focusing in denying value like zusu or lifegrip they have little skill expression unlike ball genji or doomfist
game is so flking boring after hp changes, they just murdered high risk melee heroes with that dogshit update. The game overall is just boring af compared to ow1
I understand the complaints about nano blade but you are still investing two ults and the enemy team will probably use every cool down to stop you. Blade on its own is literally a wet noodle and cant kill easily anymore especially with the mobility creep
oh man, still i have genji's 6k POTGs from OW1, sometimes i watched them and missed old days with my boys. its been almost 3 yrs that i left this game. sigh**
It also REALLY doesn’t help that Genji more likely than not is just hated by the other players in game. I do good in one team fight and it’s just instant counterpicking. If it was comp I would understand, but it happens in quickplay too! I literally have so many clips of me getting solo ulted just for the simple fact that I exist in the enemy teams presence. I pop blade and I get Sombra EMP, LW Tree, and Mauga Cage used on JUST ME. It’s genuinely getting ridiculous how fast people are to just shit on specifically me even if I’m not doing the best on my team.
Seeing the nostalgia from early OWL seasons is the only good thing left for OW2. This game has fallen sooooo far. Anyone saying otherwise is legit insane.
overwatch ultimate was an ULTIMATE!!! I have never been able to play genji, my head spins trying to play him! but i really liked playing with and against genjis back then.
I said this under a different video but instead of buffing certain heroes each season, to fix everything just add a item system like league of legends or other mobas there’s a reason why that game is still relatively balanced despite having a quite a bit more heroes than overwatch. Add items to the game, like after doing damage or getting kills u can get items like something that drops u to 10 health if u are at full hp when when taking damage so widow isn’t running the game the entire time she can be played for a little while but once the team is getting that item they will have to switch. Or a item that further reduces healing by 10% for dps, or a item that lets u silence abilities for 1 or 2 seconds u would have to becareful with what u add but it would make every character viable and have a fighting chance against there counters so the game wouldn’t feel so much like rock paper scissors
That's me!!
@@joeschipper6465to win a game as genji you have to be SO MUCH BETTER than the entire enemy team. Or you can swap cass and auto win. Clown game.

For me aiming with genji is really difficult
im convinced that the balance team cant play genji but hates being shitted on by him, so they just nerf him

Naw junk has always been a trash hero
Omg 1000% this man. Literally the source of all genji hate
It's crazy.
I'm just genuinely so sick of the current way genji has to be played, I feel like his skill ceiling was lowered so much due to nanoblade not even being able to slash dash anymore and the oneshot combo not doing enough damage to actually oneshot anymore, I was a Genji main since Season 10 of Overwatch 1 but the hp pool increase made me turn into a tracer/cass player because its just not even fun anymore to play the hero
all skill ceilings were lowered in ow2. They dumbed it down too much
What is the most optimal form of genji play to you in current meta? I'm curious.
Think of a fishing lure, you toss it out and then flick it immediately back lol
If you start to duel a low target, the supports will push a button and negate everything you do.

I wouldn't swap against mercy Moira ngl, unless the Moira understands the matchup
and even the rare few cases every probably 100 games where its actually playable theres 10 other characters who can just do his job better and easier lol
@@roxas13keyblade65Moira doesn’t have to understand the matchup to be a natural counter.
@@metal100kthat's a great idea
@@metal100kinclusive of wraith form, deflect, roll, heal station, recall and drill?
6:41 suzu ends this fight immediately lmfao
Exactly suzu didnt exist this is ow1 and genji felt good. He felt like you earned every kill but it was PAINSTAKINGLY DIFFICULT to get one kill as opposed to moria; she can throw an orb and hold fire and kill the majority of characters in less than 2-3 seconds 😭

Where did u get stuck? I got stuck at gold 1 lol
Sam u are so right i miss overwatch 1 so much it was such a good game . All we have now is $20 recolor skins and 5vs5 😢
"We need to stop one shots"
"Time to buff HP across the board"
"Now add Venture and give her a one shot combo."
Ah yes of course. Makes perfect sense.
Not only that but give them two movement abilities, one that makes them invincible and then give them an ult that gives them an extra 75 health for some reason.
Meh, multi ability combos don't really compare to a true one-shot.
Widow and old Hanzo headshots, Hog hook, Soj Rail were/are the true one shots.
I'd argue he's a bit underpowered but I agree it's mainly the game that needs balance design changes.
no he used to be a year or 2 ago but since the hp buffs hes definitely underpowered nearly all of his breakpoints are ruined now and most other characters still have a similar ttk or were buffed to compensate
It's legit both

It's crazy how genji ult is genuinely better used to bait cds most of the time. I don't even bother using that garbage wet noodle.
whats crazy is how sups still complain ab genji despite how bad he is rn
Supps complain about everything while playing the easiest characters and this is coming from a supp main
I miss flanking with a genji as Brig. I miss genji doing good damage.
Remember when they made a nerf genii meme on tiktok that was great they really know how to understand the community 🙂

- Universal Passive heal - Getting HP for Absolutely Free which Lowers the Meaning of Actual Duels/fights - Garbage like Cod - Being Casual

Yeah the fact that pharah/junk can get more value from primary fire from a safer distance than genji can with his ultimate theres a problem.
I stopped playing since season 4. Season 9 surely made me stay away from OW forever for how much they ruined genji. There's a reason that someone like even necros played significantly less in season 9
Genji in cutscenes: Dragon blade can slice through robots taller than builfings
Genji in game: Old women can tank 3 slices
I remember in Ow1 you used to have a game every now and then that was just amazing; it was fun, close, and intense and it is what would make you always want to come back to ow and play more-those games are non-existant now
Kiriko headshot does more damage than a blade swing
Long gone are the days of getting a 4/5/6 man ult kill. Now it feels impossible to even get a 3k with your ultimate.
@@OLONOODLEIt’s decent value, it’s not as FUN though. 6v6 was just a better format, let’s not even talk about Kiriko who undoes every ultimate
Genji, he is the character with the most unique gameplay in the history of shooters, and seeing him being so mistreated is sad
Just ult track and push Q to bait counter ults.
People hate this game so much that players now make an in-depth video on why these heroes are flawed.
i have like 5k hours on genji. i 2nd most things abby said here. cant even play the game anymore. for me idc what they do, but nano blade not slash-dash killing ruined the whole game for me tbh.
Yea the slash dash kill was only good thing about him and half of the time it wouldnt work now due to imorts and movement if we had old nano blade it wouldnt change much and thats saying sumt
No more play maker dps/tank heroes, only play-negater support heroes now...
Remember when zens ult mattered...
As a projectile hero, the dps passive is no where near as good for him so securing kills is the same as pre-season 9
Genji and rein are my 2 most favorite characters so ive been suffering for a solid while.
The best way I’ve found to make blade work is use it to bait beat or trans and then let your teammates with actually good ults to kill them

You could just press Q to swing the blade…
On another note, autoheal feels like a natural change but the issue is still having 2 healers. Having so much healing just makes it so that opponents can just stay in a fight for so long without having to leave for a health pack. The balance team lost their mind.
Just buff its dmg to 2 shot squishies then make nano increase swing speed and not dmg.
I have always found weird how the metal ninja doesnt have armor. I think they should give him 50 armor and a slight damage buff. He struggles too much surviving engagements as a duelist

I’ve been playing this game for years, after about a month off, I played last week. I had to shut it off. They’re ruining the game.
it is really difficult to defend overwatch 2 at this point, i'm actually shocked some people still try to find ways to defend THIS.
Blizzard: Well, okay, we heard you. We are going to buff Tracer
Back in the day Genji was the pinnacle of dps gameplay. Now were in the Dark Ages of Sojourn.
I thought of something today , to stop counter swapping , you can only swap when u have ult , so you use ultra to swap or u can’t
Interesting
Hey guys we know people didn't like one shots so we removed the Shimadas from the game
Enjoy the new hero Venture, who is going to one shot combo you.
sadly alot of heros have got hurt
but id love to know from other rein players do you think rein would come back and be generally fine if he dropped the ability for fire strikes and just made them happen off missed swings so for example
if you don't hit an enemy with a melee or an enemy isn't right up your ass rein would throw out a firestrike
the reason I think this might be a good change is because of his lack of range makes him generally unpickable outside of cqb maps
this could be a good change to bring him up to other heroes
you could also make fs slower to make it harder to hit so balance wise he could still land them but its more about spam over accurate the idea would need to be talked and ballenced but it could make rein more viable
I started playing this game in early 2019 and knew I wanted to play Genji, unfortunately I stopped playing him around 2021 because I feel he just always got countered but till this day, he's still basically my second most played hero .
Genji and Renhardt, the two heroes to suffer the most, even if they are in the meta, you need to sweat your balls off.
9:10 unless you were a support, in which case you could just receive buffs with no downside.
you know genji is bad when he is actually better off not popping blade when he gets nano and just relying on right clicks, melees and dashes while he has nano...
I was drawing Dawn from Pokemon. I was hearing a Gen4 OSt and thought I'm schizo, but no, it was actually playing in the video lol.
Id love for you to do a video on sombra, I believe she needs a nerf just like tracer.
No she needs a buff
when you open youtube 39 seconds after Samito posts a new video
A lot of people in these comments saying Genji's skill cieling is lower now or that he doesnt get impact anymore. Did we not just watch Proper and Heesang going at it on Genji in pro play less than 2 weeks ago with some incredible moments.
Proper and Heesang were under the exact situation Abby preached in the video, ultra pocketed by their team and hard enabled, he even did a VOD review about Proper and how effectively his team enabled the Genji pick, but the average player isn't proper/heesang, nor should you need 4 people dumping resources and setting you up for success for the hero to work.
@@riatri9690 Well said sir. 👏
I would seriously like to know who the ow devs main in house. I think a lot of questions could be answered 😂
probably all the easy baby heroes that counter him and supports. the game has been supportwatch forever
i don't like that in ow2 theres so much hero focusing in denying value like zusu or lifegrip
they have little skill expression unlike ball genji or doomfist
game is so flking boring after hp changes, they just murdered high risk melee heroes with that dogshit update. The game overall is just boring af compared to ow1
I understand the complaints about nano blade but you are still investing two ults and the enemy team will probably use every cool down to stop you. Blade on its own is literally a wet noodle and cant kill easily anymore especially with the mobility creep
oh man, still i have genji's 6k POTGs from OW1, sometimes i watched them and missed old days with my boys. its been almost 3 yrs that i left this game. sigh**
Sojourn was the embodiment of blizzards obsession to steal a chunk of the CoD fan base.
The worst part of genji vs moira is that moira has a 20m range and genji can only dash 15m and moira can hatch up to him way fast cuz of her cooldown
Also I never got to use the ninja teleport from dragon cinematic at the end.T_T
The devs want low skill ceiling characters to be good so that new players coming into their free to play game will stay and spend money
