I still remember Tilly’s infamous river-check with a full house. “I thought you had quads” was her reasoning to Antonious. The look on Ivey’s face when in happened was epic.
She played this so well. Funny to see both her sides, what a boss.

How does Garrett not check back there with a possible flush and straight on the board?
The idea of Garrett is: if Tilly has a set, she folded. he put a strong bet to throw projects. But the river bet it was minor
I think Garrett style is to always put his opponent to the test and get them to fold a better hand if there's other dangers on the board, but I agree I personally would've checked the heck out of the river if I was Garrett!

@@harisadu8998 tight player raising pf and going check check check. Likely possibility is she has an overpair. If she had 9/10s she would have likely reraised with flush on board unless it was specifically 9c10c. 45 highly unlikely. So she either has a flush or overpairs. Flush came in and she checked. She has overs in this spot vs flush way more often.
A very ambitious value betting from garret. After 2 barrels, he has to check with any clubs and straight connectors.
If you compare the ranges, he has a little more equity to bet than checking and showdown

I would check 2 pair on a soaking wet board purely because the pain of a check raise is worse than missing out on a bit of value
and she would probably not call another bet on the river with a worse hand than he had anyways..

@@zizou357 she’ll probably play all of her overpairs like this and she’s definitely a sticky opponent. 78 is pretty much a mandatory value bet and just fold if you get raised she’s never gonna turn aces with a club into a bluff.

It's easy to say when you can see that cards and I love Garrett but that river bet seemed too thin to me
It’s what separates the men from the boys being able to extract those thin river bets.
@@maliant16 It's a clear mistake, what do you expect to get called by? An overpair or a smaller 2 pair? At that point people might even fold over pairs. 87 is behind more often than it's getting called by worse, which is why betting is terrible there. Jen could have a set of jacks, eights, sevens or sixes. Some people might even slow play a straight there, 54 would be reasonable for her to have. Not to mention all the flushes she might have. Really bad play by Garrett, he seemed tilted here, he's usually a really solid player from what i've seen.
@@jameskorek9726 I think Garrett went with a read that she had QQ+ and didn't respect her game thought she'd call off with QQ KK AA cause like you said why else would he make that bet that doesn't really accomplish much? I think he thinks she's a donk doesn't think she could have gotten off QQ KK or AA

Shows when got a value hand don't always need to bet. When person calling back would only do so with a better hand. He outplayed himself with her sneaky check on river.

You should always bet the river in that spot...G obviously should’ve checked back, given that J check called the flop/turn...she was obviously on a draw after the flop. 9/10 got there on the turn and clubs made a flush on the river. There’s no hand in J’s range on the river that G’s two pair realistically beats.
@@faulrevere8938 always amusing when the armchair experts pile in thinking they know better than players who have played with the best in the world for decades. Also you should never “always” do anything or you will become too predictable. Listen to any top player and they will tell you to mix up. Maybe she would bet 9/10 times there but this was the 1. Also you don’t know the table dynamics as you were not there.

I think garret is best player at hustlers. I do love g man. But these other players are world class.

The only possible bluff is AcAx or an ambitious KcKx, otherwise, it's a flush all day long. Even a straight probably check-raises the turn with the two flush draws out there so yeah, it's really always a flush there.

That’s a bad river bet. Not much value there. If she’s on a draw, she’s folding to anything. If she has the flush, she’s reshoving. No point in betting for value there.

@@ebayer4life980 It's not hard to check but based on how the hand was played 90% of the time the player behind would most likely check back. So most players with a strong hand would bet there.
@@ebayer4life980 she c-bets, calls a raise and then x-calls turn. A lot of players playing against someone taking that line would xback river with middle 2p on a flush completer with a 3 line to a straight. She knew Garrett would bet with value and gave herself the best chance of getting all the chips. Most players would lead out a flush. She played it perfectly against that particular opponent. But I guess you always do the right thing - especially when you see the cards everyone has 🔔🔚

Im new at poker but im confused why everyone is praising the check on the river. I feel in this situation 90% of people are checking back. For them to call your reraise on flop, call bet on turn and then the river allow straight/ flush opportunities, it doesn’t make sense. Even if she didnt make the straight/flush, whats the point of betting 100k? Nothing will call you apart from one of these. Maybe garrett was worried she had a set and was trying to get her off it?? Only logical explanation I can think of. Surely 90% of the time that river check is missing immense value.

Because he gets value from worse hands like AA, KK and QQ. Probably he didn't think, anyone playing these high stakes is bad enough to check/call a flush draw twice on flop and turn. Thats even a loosing play on NL2 online.
