Great video. Arma is unique there is nothing like it. From the depth of the simulation to the variety of gameplay,maps,factions the list goes on. This is due to its one of a kind modding community that extends and deepens the Arma experience way beyond the incredible base platform. I have played the Arma series from Flashpoint onwards and have enjoyed everyone,true my experience improved overtime alongside my knowledge of P.C builds. Get the fastest core you can rather than multiple slower cores.. Looking forward to more videos. Compression on TH-cam can be rough though?
Thanks for the tips! It took me a while to start on arma cause I like playing with a controiler and reforger has the best controller suport on the series so far! Also was worried about the AI, thinking I was too bad at playing this game, now I know best lol.

I will always answer questions from newbs in A3 because others answered my questions many hours ago. I still have questions at 400 hours into A3. Crazy good game.
Not sure how your gaming setup is, but could try to use something like Nvidia RTX noise removal. Or try to move mic in front of keyboard so doesn't pick up the clicks as easy. Could also try to EQ and find that specific frequency of the clicks and try to eliminate it. @@ylsgaming
@ylsgaming maybe you can record your screen using OBS and configure your microphone there as well. Adding some noise gate and noise suppression should help!
I could watch you play for hours, you're very good at keeping the audience entertained and informed. I like single player game mode much better than multi player. I played HALO and Modern Warfare 3 in multi player mode and I just don't have fun. People are so rude, selfish, and the way they treat noobs really ticks me off. I know you said your server is different, but bad experiences just gave me a bad taste. I'm thinking about downloading ARMA 3 (or 4), but I need to see how single player friendly it is; so thanks for the upload of Reforger.
I'd recommend checking out Operation: Harsh Doorstop for another Tactical FPS that is def already comparable and getting better nearly every week! Best part is it's FREE (no MTX either) and will be highly customizable!

The AI actually got a ton of improvements this expy patch. They will flank you now, take cover, throw smokes to safely bandage buddies and such. Btw around 32:42 you kept hitting the gate, then the guy crouch dodged your bullets and you readjusting made the bullets hit the gate again. The chances..🤣
I was wondering why the AI was actually acting decent. I like that they were moving to my last known location too, not to where I was going. I actually felt I had to outsmart them which was very refreshing
Starting bits went all the way wrong from upside down a car, portal exiting a car at the tree top, to immediate pants down while redeeming your remnants.
Yeah it was 100 percent a shit show lol. But I did take care of business in the end, but I couldn’t cut all that out. ArmA involves lots of imperfect outcomes

You seem to be making it way harder than it really is though 😅 the radio chatter is new things added to the map (locations of broken down btr, a resistance group has fought a group of occupiers and left loot in an area etc.). The hideouts are almost always in barns and usually there is no enemies there. The radio will give tell you if a hideout is discovered by enemies and thereby lost. It's a fun game mode that you can play solo or coop. The tents are almost never needed as the hideouts function as spawn points. It's not the same as antistasi. Once you do the 4 missions there is an extraction and you extract. The replay value is because of the randomized spawn points, mostly randomized loot at the hideouts, and randomized missions given.
This is great information! I meant more so it reminded me of antistasi in a lineration way but I understand now the main mission is just the four objectives. Thank you for this info
Early in vid and already just FYI.....when it says "check injuries" on your enemy , or anyone....it means they are still alive. Also, when you were gunned down, rather than respawning immediately.....go into "Arma vision " to kill time/get a better look at your surroundings and what you are dealing with. Think of it as a near death, out of body experience.lol. When your man is up or better....just before, go back into their body and continue playing. You aren't out if downed. Maybe have to apply a bandage/morphine at worst, but can definitely stay in the fight!. If you are dead, you will know it!
Soo, if i buy Reforger now, there is actually a mode i can enjoy solo without having to research/download tons of mods and then spend entire days reading manuals, documentation, finding tutorials and editing xml and ini files? I'm not a multiplayer fan, but i love Arma. I even bought DayZ so i could play on my own dedicated server SOLO. I eventually got it to a point where my game had AI bandit patrols, NPCs, quests, but it was even less stable than baseline Arma. And the way the server saved progress (and sometimes didn't), eventually made me abandon the project. I never quite knew whether getting back into the game will mean i'm gonna be able to continue from where i left off. Cars and items sometimes vanished etc. Also, to set the entire thing up took me about a week worth of afternoons and evenings, and i was scared shitless that i'm gonna lose massive amounts of progress, bases built, loot caches etc. with each server restart. So, if i stopped playing for a week or more, i usually forgot all the little details i needed to pay attention to, and getting back after a pause was getting harder and harder. Not to mention that each update broke something and i had to go through all the scripts line by line to check what went wrong. A lot of work for a half-baked DIY singleplayer experience. I'm still kinda surprised there isn't official SP branch, because survival games are huge today. Maybe because Arma was never supposed to be a survivalcraft type of game. Much less SP. But i would buy a polished SP Dayz in an instant. Also, i absolutely LOVE Whole Lotta Altis mod for Arma3. That's another type of gameplay Arma3 would absolutely excel at, if it was made officially. Entire map opened to the player, with two or three factions fighting over the land. Dynamic campaign affected by player's actions. Too bad that projects like WLA Amalgamation technically never get finished, and they're still quite barebones. But all things considered, on both my own personal DayZ project, and in WLA, which i still occasionally play, i had a lot of fun, even taking into account all the problems, time spent troubleshooting and setbacks. I love running/driving/flying around Chernarus in Arma3 engine, but i hate getting ganked by some invisible prick with an aimbot app. Soooo - there is something like that in Reforger now as well?
There are a few game modes that are fun for solo players. Check my video I posted called “Arma Reforger with player progression” that’s a really easy game mode to get into and is an absolutely blast playing solo.

Unfortunately the single dev is only working on Overthrow after his main job, and every update breaks the mod, so sometimes it's pretty broken. But still, cool mod. And Combat Ops are also good.

I really enjoyed Arma2 Dayz and Arma 3 BR. I want to try Reforger only for the coop aspect to play with friends. Before we all buy Reforger, a few questions: - Is the progress saved? - As I understand it, we have only two missions for coop: Combat ops and Resistance ops? - Is the progress saved? - Does Resistance Ops play similar to combat ops? - Anything more we should know before jumping in?
@@jonneymendoza I researched and there are recent posts complaining about this, it's still not possible to save your progress, unless you do a trick with the Game Master and even then it's not a normal save and it doesn't save everything, so no, it still doesn't work save progress between sessions in Combat Ops game mode. EDITED: And of course, I tested it and it doesn't really save anything, every time you click continue it starts all over again
Wild how different than this than the old pc days. Least favorite tatical shooter but from what I'm seeing alot was put into it, certainly enough. This campaign plays like Farcry2 on vertan no hud, or even the orginal Crysis. The modernized vibes give off.
I played Arma a few time but it never gripped me. However I now play Hell let Loose and that's fun game but it's based on WWII not modern day. Great video btw thanks.

I was pretty adicted with Operation Flashpoint (resistance) 20 years ago. I made plenty of missions and campaigns with the editor and I was active in the OFPEC community. Also did some AI scriptiing. I did play some multiplayer with friends, but I was more a singleplayer guy. I'm 52 now and I haven't played videiogames for 13 years now, I picking it up again. Seems the AI is better and more human. The AI back was good in tactical decisions and chasing you, but their awareness with a hit or miss. Sometimes the AI reacts too quickly or too slowly to threats. For example, they can quickly detect you at long range or take too long to identify an enemy up close. Is that better now in Arma? I saw an AI soldier took you out from out the bushes. At least it looked realistic and smart, in OFP sometimes they could see you through walls.
@@franktielemans6624 sometimes the AI can see through dense grass which isn’t overly realistic unless they claim to of heard “rustling” or seen bushes moving however the modding community for arma has done wonders in terms of ai mods that make them more human and removes their X-ray vision

Yea my first time I played this I LOADED UP in the safe-house and then swiftly died and all the good guns were gone . . . damn LOL I love this game mode, I wish the replay ability needs to be a little better with different missions or different locations for things to spawn so you can try new tactics/strategies. It just needs some tweaking.

Nope, I’m fully aware Reforger is a test subject for Arma 4. But what makes you think they won’t achieve Arma 3 gameplay on the Reforger engine? To me that’s Arma 4
Hey. You don't need new keyboard. Just set you OBS settings for mic right. There is plenty videos on TH-cam to set up compression correctly. Keyboard sound makes it unwatchable
how is one supposed to play this alone? i always sooner or later get cornered, forced in some building in cover and swarmed and eventuallyed wounded by grenades and rpg fire.

My best suggestion is to get arma 3, not reforger. Arma 3 is actually on sale right now for like 8 dollars. It’s actually a complete game and I have a discord community that helps new people get started. If you try to learn yourself, the learning curve is HUGE. But we have complete beginners join our server and they start having fun the first session. Hope to see you on the discord
Just to confirm I'm not crazy. There is no persistence in this scenario, correct? I have tried multiple times to save and exit to main menu, even while standing in a hideout. Nothing ever persists.
Correct. Everyone you load up the scenario, there will be 3 or 4 main objectives. Once you complete them you will be given an extraction point. Basically looting and capturing spawn points is all tools to help you complete the main missions

U know when you go down like that you will get back up cause your uncon and you don't need another player to help you it only depends on if the enemy kills you or not I've gotten up and survived
The keyboard is pretty unbearable, Could only end up watching like 10-15 minutes without bringing the audio down to almost zero and even then the clicking is super loud for some reason, definitely noticeable over your voice and the game play (which both sound great).

I would say so. A lot of people would disagree and maybe I’m bias because I love the arma franchise. But my discord server is about to dabble in hosting public reforger servers so of course I feel it’s worth getting!
I havent had wifi for months but had arma already owned and downloaded just got it updated not too long ago thanks to a good buddy of mine and Ive been enjoying the absolute fuck out of this. Its like ghost recon wildlands if it were an actual milsim game. If you dont think thats a great than you can eat a willy
One big problem I have with this game is the lag when firing automatic weapons.. it doesn’t feel crisp. It feels n looks very sluggish and slow. Like low fps arma 2 firing the saw

Personally, I find this game has lots of potential, which it does not live up to. Specially in game modes like this, the world is so damn lifeless, it takes away all the immersion imo.

The game mode is called combat ops. It’s on the experimental version of the game which means it will be released to full version once the testing is done

@@jonneymendoza I researched and there are recent posts complaining about this, it's still not possible to save your progress, unless you do a trick with the Game Master and even then it's not a normal save and it doesn't save everything, so no, it still doesn't work save progress between sessions in Combat Ops game mode. EDITED: And of course, I tested it and it doesn't really save anything, every time you click continue it starts all over again
Wild how different than this than the old pc days. Least favorite tatical shooter but from what I'm seeing alot was put into it, certainly enough.
This campaign plays like Farcry2 on vertan no hud, or even the orginal Crysis. The modernized vibes give off.

I played Arma a few time but it never gripped me. However I now play Hell let Loose and that's fun game but it's based on WWII not modern day. Great video btw thanks.

I was pretty adicted with Operation Flashpoint (resistance) 20 years ago. I made plenty of missions and campaigns with the editor and I was active in the OFPEC community.
Also did some AI scriptiing. I did play some multiplayer with friends, but I was more a singleplayer guy.
I'm 52 now and I haven't played videiogames for 13 years now, I picking it up again.
Seems the AI is better and more human. The AI back was good in tactical decisions and chasing you, but their awareness with a hit or miss. Sometimes the AI reacts too quickly or too slowly to threats. For example, they can quickly detect you at long range or take too long to identify an enemy up close. Is that better now in Arma?
I saw an AI soldier took you out from out the bushes. At least it looked realistic and smart, in OFP sometimes they could see you through walls.
@@franktielemans6624 sometimes the AI can see through dense grass which isn’t overly realistic unless they claim to of heard “rustling” or seen bushes moving however the modding community for arma has done wonders in terms of ai mods that make them more human and removes their X-ray vision

I love this game mode, I wish the replay ability needs to be a little better with different missions or different locations for things to spawn so you can try new tactics/strategies.
It just needs some tweaking.

Nope, I’m fully aware Reforger is a test subject for Arma 4. But what makes you think they won’t achieve Arma 3 gameplay on the Reforger engine? To me that’s Arma 4
Hey. You don't need new keyboard. Just set you OBS settings for mic right. There is plenty videos on TH-cam to set up compression correctly. Keyboard sound makes it unwatchable

My best advice is to wait for the arms franchise sale. Reforger is worth it if you can get it on sale. But the $40 is certainly steep for what it is
9 months later and the game is definitely not abandoned seeing as it's cross play it's not going down anytime soon it's here for the long run dude

so I've played squad for roughly 200hrs, what would the learning curve be like if i got this?
My best suggestion is to get arma 3, not reforger. Arma 3 is actually on sale right now for like 8 dollars. It’s actually a complete game and I have a discord community that helps new people get started. If you try to learn yourself, the learning curve is HUGE. But we have complete beginners join our server and they start having fun the first session. Hope to see you on the discord
Just to confirm I'm not crazy. There is no persistence in this scenario, correct? I have tried multiple times to save and exit to main menu, even while standing in a hideout. Nothing ever persists.
Correct. Everyone you load up the scenario, there will be 3 or 4 main objectives. Once you complete them you will be given an extraction point. Basically looting and capturing spawn points is all tools to help you complete the main missions

I believe it’s in your keybind options as ‘tactical view’ I also believe it’s defaulted as enter on your number pad

What’s the difference between arms 3 and reforge?
Reforger is 10 years newer but very incomplete. Overall in terms of military sandbox simulator. Arma 3 takes the win. If you’re interested at all, we have a discord community that runs Arma 3 servers 24/7. The link is in the description

Go to scenario and look for Combat Ops as a game mode. Launch the game and you’re good to go

U know when you go down like that you will get back up cause your uncon and you don't need another player to help you it only depends on if the enemy kills you or not I've gotten up and survived
I realized that after. I forgot I wasn’t playing arma 3 with the ACE medical mods
The keyboard is pretty unbearable, Could only end up watching like 10-15 minutes without bringing the audio down to almost zero and even then the clicking is super loud for some reason, definitely noticeable over your voice and the game play (which both sound great).

I would say so. A lot of people would disagree and maybe I’m bias because I love the arma franchise. But my discord server is about to dabble in hosting public reforger servers so of course I feel it’s worth getting!

I havent had wifi for months but had arma already owned and downloaded just got it updated not too long ago thanks to a good buddy of mine and Ive been enjoying the absolute fuck out of this. Its like ghost recon wildlands if it were an actual milsim game. If you dont think thats a great than you can eat a willy

One big problem I have with this game is the lag when firing automatic weapons.. it doesn’t feel crisp. It feels n looks very sluggish and slow. Like low fps arma 2 firing the saw
