Being a bit harsh on Guy I think. He’s as quick as anyone round the island and if it wasn’t for a bit of bad luck/engine failure he’d have at least 2 wins. He’s had numerous podiums, But I’m sure there’s a few who would have a win if it wasn’t for bad luck. He’s more a legend that raced at the TT pretty successfully
He also also holds over half a dozen world speed records. He has lived more lives than most people you will ever meet combined and doesn't owe anyone anything at this point. He has proven himself in spades.
you go to the tt and he is hiding away saying he just wants to race and doesent like all the attention,yet first sign of a tv camra and he will do anything,and i mean anything and it was the tt that got him all this tv work in the first place.I just hate to see these other wining riders(and often on much smaller budgets and poorer machines)scratching for every penny just to keep racing.Guy is one of the most famous tt riders, he has not won att ,he wont win att, he could not even win on the mugen when he had only one bike to beat(the other mugen)life is not fare.
Well said Llanfair, eoin murphy of course has done none of the things he rattles on about , but considers himself an expert, if he had ever thrown a leg over a race bike and raced the circuits as I have, he would understand the respect and kinship shared by anyone who has the balls to do so. He probably hasn't seen his own over his beergut for years.
Guy was no doubt invited to race, and who would turn down an oportunity like this. He gets to race a classic bike with some of the best racers in the world, past and present, at an amazing event like the Goodwood Revival. I dont think he is doing this just for the cameras! All riders are different and some need less hastle from the fans and media in order to concentrate and focus on what is a very dangerous sport... especially at the TT races.
