I think his self-worth is tied to his Rocket League performance. He used to be the most anticipated player before he aged into RLCS. He quit school to play RL. He won RLCS. Then it slid. He got dropped from Vitality. Then Dignitas. Seeing new players crush him must be rough because what is he gonna do now? I think he still feels the same way as always, he just knows it looks childish to rage.

Having said that, Scrub is a world champion who is having trouble getting picked up by an org. I think he seems to have lost the fire for improving and lost his mojo a bit. If he can't sort his head out, which only he can do, then he needs to switch modes into content creation. For a guy who must have made a few quid, to still be streaming without decent lights and surroundings and a decent cam is just a bad choice. I don't think he's very thoughtful about what he's doing. I like him a lot, he just looks like he could do with a mentor to me.

Scrub is considered the second goat because of his accomplishments, but it has actually been quite a while since he was “untouchable.” Hell, it’s the same with Fairy and his untouchable period was more recent than scrub’s. Like at this point, it seems unlikely that anyone else will be dominant long enough to challenge scrub and fairy in those top 2 positions, but at the same time it doesn’t mean so much when they get crushed by someone years later.
3-4 years, is a little over half the game’s life. Yeah, duh, don’t see why you think that’s so amazing or anything. Also scrub being untouchable for so long and that evolution are separate things.
Don’t get me wrong, this is outstanding, but the fact that it was scrub has pretty much nothing to do with why.

this is a great example of how important confidence is to skill level, scrub starts playing noticeably worse after dark hit that first pogo.
i swear, is kinda like getting 5x10 in a CS half, even if the map is terrible for your side, the team mood goes down a lot.

Scrub used to be top tier in the early era of the game, but he's completely obsolete compared to the guys playing it now.
Fairy Peak is the only OG guy who really managed to adapt and still mix it up with the best 1's players today.

In order to defend Dark you need momentum. The moment you remain static in your goal, that's when you enter his zone. Because he mastered the art of understanding everything you can do when you start from zero.
That's actually what separates him from any other freestyler.
But if you are moving he doesn't know exactly what speed you'll have at any given moment.
So basically in order to stop a single guy, you need to reinvent defense.
It's obviously easier said than done 🤷🏻♂️

that's the beauty of Rocket League to me. The skill ceiling is unlimited. Take the ball up the wall and you've got ceiling pinch, air dribble, flip reset, pogo, ground pinch, ground bounce double, catch into flick... there's endless creative possibilities

dark is so overhyped. He's good don't get me wrong but his whole thing is pogos. When he's on the ground he is just your average ssl player and nothing special. If we compare to zen for example that makes miracles happen from every position possible, It's not even close. Don't let dark do his thing and even for like scrub It's most likely a win.

That's why Zen is a pro and Dark isn't. Zen is a very good defender, insane with his offense and aerial plays and surgically precise with his shots and touches. If you watch his replays you'll see that the mf can shoot from literally anywhere on the pitch and completely catch the opponents off guard. He's a solid ground and air player who's well rounded and he's more of a team player despite having the most solo potential. He's very good at setting up his team and even in his recent doubles video with Vatira, a part that caught my eye was how Zen was able to think on his feet and instead of getting a regular clear, he used the clear to pass the ball to Vatira who shot on net and scored before the other team could've even realised their offense was turned into a counterattack. Dark's just a 1v1 showmatch kid. Any team that wants to pick him up is going to have to train him to become more rounded than just a flashy aerial player that will get shut down in 2 seconds in RLCS. Having mechanical plays succeed in 3v3s is much more difficult than having them work in 1v1s. The guy used to be just GC a little ago so he's improved a bit but not enough to go pro and I don't think you can consider him bubble since he only plays 1s matches. He's already 15 so he could've debuted if he wanted to but he probably knows he has a longer way to go too.
