Some dudes say here that Karn was. Fearless because he knew nothing would hurt him because of his kavach. First thing karn never asked for the kavach. It was already given to him as a gift and there is nothing wrong about it. Secondly karna is the disciple of bhagwan Parashuram and has every knowledge about celestial weapons. He is also an expert marksman so he is as powerful as Arjuna!!!
Karn got cursed by Parashuram in a fit of rage although he repented in doing that later on. So at the time of need he couldn't use the knowledge!!!
Secondly for no reason bhoomi devi cursed karn that his chariot will get stuck in earth. Some versions say that it was Krishna who got karna's chariot stuck at kurukshetra.
Karna was also deprived of his kavach by Indra. I have never considered Indra as a warrior. I see him only as a selfish eunuch. A godly version of Duryodhan!! What can u expect from a person like that??
Arjuna never had to face anything like this. If he didn't have krishna by his side he'd be dead a long time ago!!! So definitely Karn was more powerful than Arjuna for sure ....

1. His adversaries were unpowered by fate-
Karna was cursed thrice and ekalavya was deprived of his thumb by Drona. Moreover shameless Indra had taken karna kavach and kundala by deception.
2. Krishna and Hanuman were both present in Arjun's chariot. That means Mahadev and Narayan were with Arjun!! Which force in this nature could defeat Arjuna then?? Had they not taken part in the war I would have called Arjun a worthy opponent of karna.
Arjun actually never fought the war. It was all lord Krishna. He motivated Arjun to fight when he lost his spirit. He was the chief strategist of the entire war. He saved Arjun from his funeral pyre after the Abhimanyu incident. He saved Arjun from karna's Nagastra.
Had it not been for Krishna Arjun would have been dead a long time ago!! Coz in the 3rd or 4th day of the was Bheeshma pitamaha would have roasted Arjun to death.
Karna on the other hand despite facing the cruelties of nature and being deprived of his true potential by deception of the gods gave a fierce battle performance. Arjun could have never done that .......Every Tom dick and harry all powerful in the absence of their nemisis......That was Arjuna.....
