Love it!!, Giselle in a theatrical way, the protagonists are secondary here but they don't lost the importance, I like that Hilarion was more active and sentimental too. Mythra here was gorgeous!!!
Thank you for posting this rarity! I've so far found on TH-cam Haydee's stunning choreographies for Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty (from Stuttgart, Prague, Santiago and Berlin (; ) and Nutcracker, and so this is a great addition. I love to see a recording with thesse brilliant dancers. I was this year for the first time to see The Taming of the Shrew at Stuttgart Ballet - I have so much appreciation for this company - Greetings from Germany (;
A very different Giselle, quite enjoyed it, great choreography by Haydee. The village festivities were fun to watch. I especially liked the mimed tightrope walk. Birgit Keil was wonderful as Giselle; tall and statuesque, she seemed to float and glide. Does anyone know if this version is performed elsewhere?
Is there a reason the composer's name isn't mentioned. Not mentioning the composer - or mentioning the composer only as a footnote - seems to be a tradition in the world of ballet. 🤔
Thank you. I knew it was by him; it just puzzles me how - with the exception of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and a few others - identifying the composer is not a priority in dance. Have a safe and wonderful week, wherever you are. 🌻 🐧 🌻
I know the Stuttgart is an accomplished company, why would they change the original masterpiece? Its already perfect. Myrta looks more like a Halloween witch, garish, just garish
Marcia wanted to give her company a Giselle of their own. She approached the work from a different spiritually focused perspective. She found that the story of a girl dying from a broken heart was not contemporary. On the other hand she saw Giselle as a very evolved being who was not stuck in the worldly entanglements like everybody else. The center of her being was pure love, divine love so to speak, through which she is able to not turn into a Wili, and save Albrecht. Marcia also chose the dancers for each role very carefully so that their personalities benefitted the roles as much as possible. It was really a work of love for the dancers she worked with.
The one with the top hat: Christian Fallanga The tall clown: Jean-Christophe Blavier The smaller clowns: Marco Santi and Marc Mc.Clain The man who makes the music is George Bailey. He is a very gifted pianist and used to play for the ballet company. Jean-Christophe was Marcia Haydee's partner at the time. She really made his lovely character shine here!
And btw Marco Santi and Marc Mc Clain both had first soloist qualities. Their mall stature was what kept them mostly in smaller solo parts. They were incredible fine dancers.

Does anyone know if this version is performed elsewhere?
Marcia Haydee and Egon Madsen in the more original "Gieselle" please!
Richard Cragun is not dancing Alberich in this performance; he is dancing the "Hilarion" role.
Yes, and Tamas Dietrich, the present director of the Stuttgart ballet is dancing Albrecht.
I really love how to perform for this Milta❤
Does anyone know who performed?
She’s amazing.
I really want to know who she is.
Catherine Batcheller
I am very sure that it is Melinda Witham. The role was created for her.
Richard! 😪

Lovely use of her hands. Not so thrilled with the choreography changes.
Три человека из цирка - кто они? 😂

Don't like it, that's not Giselle.
I miss Petipa's choreo too much. If you are going to replace his work then the new work should be far superior. It a no for me.
Мрак какой-то😢
Idiotizm
What is this? Where is Giselle? Don't like it.
Where is the problem? Go watch the Kirov!
