I LOVE THIS!!! I am in shock at the amazing things that happened on this homecoming. It went from typical, to traditional, to commemorative, and finished with honors that left me in awe.
To go on a homecoming trip and gain citizenship is amazing. To then be able to meet the Chief of your people, to learn to cook traditional food, to be initiated among your tribe and named....WOW!! What an honor!

This had me bawling like a baby. This is so wonderful to see. The natives greeting them outside the airport, welcoming them home was so beautiful to witness. The Sierra Leonean government offering them citizenship was so thoughtful. It was also nice to see how they're like everyone else there, just another face in the crowd, instead of being "black". You have a name, a tribe and ancestors who belonged to a land. The dirty lies we've been fed about Africa in the west is a damn shame.
