I came to the same conclusion that these are really nice power supplies, especially for the price on ebay, Though whether they work or not seems to have no relation to what the sellers seem to claim since they rarely know how to test them properly. I'm in the process of verifying, calibrating and repairing my small collection. The really nice thing about them is the fast transient responses and designed for testing mobile devices that need to pull current in pulses. A "poor man's SMU" as discussed on a popular forum. They are based on the 6611C/6612C power supplies that were not designed for the mobile pulses that did have the binding posts. The original 66312A did have the binding posts, but more importantly it has schematics for the main board in its service manual. It had the same 20V/2A specs as the 6612 it is based on. I bought one just so I had a version with schematics. The 663xxB/D models don't have the binding posts but are 45W 15V/3A supplies. D models just have a built in digital volt meter. It is easier to find the D models but since this can only measure one channel at a time the additional DVM is of limited use. 66309B/D has two output 66311B/D has one output 66319B/D has two outputs with battery emulation ,even faster transient response and datalogging 66321B/D has one output with battery emulation ,even faster transient response and datalogging

I'm 99% convinced you bought the unit I wanted haha, I was just umming and ahhing over shipping (cost about half the unit) and the thing vanished. A week later I find this video. It's a small world haha
Maybe I just zoned out, but did he ever say which models these were? I only heard him say the mfgrs. and could only make out the Keithley in the video...
Hello, thank you for your work :). I'm wondering, where to find 2nd hand gear at a reasonable price in 2022 ? eBay is really overpriced and I'm not even talking about duty fees if you buy something from outside the EU. Moreover, non functioning devices seem to be difficult to find.
@@GearAcquisitionSyndrome Covid and everything may haven't helped either but yeah that's a pain. So we just have to be patient and wait for the perfect eBay listing I guess :p.
Do I spot 2 Rifa/Kemet paper Y-caps behind the mains power input? The ones in the white casing will last a bit longer than the infamous transparent smoke bombs, but since Y capacitors take care of mains insulation, I'm not sure if you'd want to leave them in, or replace them with polypropylene types.
@@GearAcquisitionSyndrome Hey, nice video, new subscriber. I've got one of these and already mounted the binding posts. It is indeed a reused chassis/front panel. If you checkout the 33120A its an exact match, not two binding posts, but two BNC connections, so you need to do a tiny bit of rework to get the banana binding posts in. Keep up the good work!
@@GearAcquisitionSyndrome thank u. i did that but not that way, also that need some coil for catch power from thin air, if can u tell me, what is the transistor val/some number for ID???
Looks like there are a couple of supercapacitors in there. They were probably charged before the video started and the solder joint completed the circuit.

I have a previous model of the HP system power supply, exact same form factor but does 20V 2A only, it came with two binding posts on the front.

I got one of this HP months ago. The display was very dim caused by one of the tantalum capacitors in the front panel pcb.
It's all about the model number and options. Some models do have banana jacks on the front, some both, some on the rear. Research your Agilent series.

correction: no front binding posts, I added a breakout panel on the right side
