nice job, you are a lucky guy, not only was it a simple fix but it failed in such a way that the damage was minimum, typical failure mode for tantalum Caps is to fail completely short circuited (0 ohms) which usually takes out a bunch of other stuff.

Thanks for making all these videos. Can I use a part of your videos (3-5)min with your voice and a link to your TH-cam video in order to make a reference in my TH-cam video in an Agilent 6612C troubleshooting and reverse engineering?

Hey, it really looks like you know what you are doing. I found this video while searching for a solution to my own 6612C power supply. Not sure if you would know what is going on with it but everything seems to be working okay (Display lights up fine, and buttons function) and there are no errors reported by the system. The problem I am having is when I try to switch the output on the Unr light on the display turns on. From what I have read this means the voltage and current are unregulated. I have checked the voltage and current that the display shows while in this mode, and they are correct, but I am unable to control or change the voltage or current. Any thoughts?

@@feedback-loop Hi, I mean in general for high end kit are they 24 bit for instance ? or lower ?...Im curious about ADC's in general and there use.

Oh, in such cases I would think 12 bits.

Tantalum caps, they are great until they are not. Not much difference in between.

:-D HAHAHA! I can't believe it! A single cap made such a mess!

Tantalum capacitors are evil... but necessary one. Have had them blow up on my face a few times for no apparent reason. :D
