Dude, Hunter is the man. He straight mowed through those fish with a brisket slicer! Love it. I'm curious if Custom Seafoods upcharges to do the fileting? Or do you have to filet the fish before you bring them to Custom Seafoods?

I don't know of any that include cleaning the fish with the pack/freeze price. The only thing they will do is cut fillets/fletches into sections. For example, if you say you want packages with 2 pounds, they'll do that. The problem is that most major spots with city owned cleaning stations will have people hanging around who will fillet your salmon for $1 each. The vacuum businesses can't beat that.

Just wanna say that I love your videos man this last year I recently lost my grandpa who had started a salmon fishing campground in copper center Alaska. If you get a chance at all to head out that way you gotta stop by Salmon Grove Fishing Campground on the klutina river!

You don’t really need fancy gear to catch sockeye. A 30 dollar dollar rod and reel combo at Walmart will be fancy enough. It’s very low tech fishing.

I eat a lot of fish in a year. Plus I’ll have people over and cook some, as well as gift fish to people as well

Is the best way to make salmon By far Is in the oven.set to 350. Get a Baking Pan, that's glass. Salt and pepper your salmon. Lemon slices, butter, or Olive oil. Olive oil is better. Hot peppers like banana peppers. And something green.

Aloha. Been to Alaska many times, but my last trip was 2010. Used to pay 150$ for a year long non-resident license plus 10$ for a king stamp. Anybody know what the current fee is? Just curious.

In Germany we can buy Alaska Salmon in supermarket, but we dont get real Alaska Salmon, but rather Alaska Pollock. Its apperently legal scamming people this way.
Some advice from a local…
If you watch how this guy fillets the salmon, you’ll understand why we locals NEVER allow a guide to fillet our fish. Even if we go out on a charter, we take our fish whole.
Salmon fillets should be a very steep triangle. If you notice, the guide’s fillets are flat.
That’s because he wants to go home and he wants to get the fish cleaning done as quickly as possible. So he cuts all the way across the backbone in one big cut, leaving huge chunks of meat tucked along the backbone behind. It’s neat to watch, but it’s a massive waste of the resource.
Doing it correctly takes time but it’s well worth it. You’ll walk away with with about 30% more meat on each fillet.
