  • Hello Buddies,
    Taming your bird doesn't end with shoving your hand inside your bird's cage, there are several steps you have to follow so you'll tame your bird in the easiest and quickest way without losing it's trust while at it.

    A good video for me! My budgie started to trust me a couple of weeks ago but then after I had to bring him to the vet, he became distant again.🎑

      This happened to me a couple of weeks ago one of my budgies was sick and had to be quarantined. He thankfully recovered and was reunited with his friend. But the 2 of them lost a little bit of trust. But with lots of love and treats they're tame again.

    I tamed my two boys at the same time but found that one of them just naturally took to me more and started to stop the progress I had with the other one by bullying the weaker bird away from me. I counterbalanced this by taking each out of the cage separately for a while and making sure they each had time with me and with each other without distractions or group dynamics. It worked and now I have two best bird friends and I couldn't imagine not having them waking me up everyday and screaming over the TV when I'm trying to watch it

      how did you manage to take each bird out into another cage? should the other cage also have treats and food? i have two budgies that hop on my finger and eat from my hand (the male way more than the female) but if i try to take my finger out slowly with it on, it flies back inside. I don’t want to stress it out by putting it just ONE in its old cage and forcing it to hang out with me in my room and taming it.

    I got 2 budgies months ago. They didn’t like me especially when they had to go to the vet and be treated by antibiotics. One of the budgies Pep was getting lonely even with a buddy because Lemon didn’t talk much or interact. So we got two more budgies Zazu and Zuzu. They were a great idea and they trusted me almost instantly. They helped teach Pep and Lemon to eat treats out of my hands. While they won’t let me do anything else as in taming and if this is as far as I’ll ever go with them I’m okay with that. As long as they’re healthy it’s okay. I still interact with them giving them treats etc. They see me around my room doing things all the time. Im in their cage a lot cleaning, changing food and water, giving different toys, and talking to them. They’re allowed out of their cage and allowed to fly and do stuff in my room as they go back into their cage by themselves. Zazu and Zuzu taught Pep and Lemon that eating out of my hands is okay, I’m not actually such a scary monster, going to the bathing box is okay, leaving the cage is good, etc.

    • @Dragonslayer_21
      @Dragonslayer_21 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glennmckeown4353 I’d recommend doing more research on your bird (whom I assume is a budgie.) I’m not an expert in any means, I simply just have 6 budgies so take my advice with a grain of salt. Budgies need a partner which to the sounds of it he doesnt have one. I’d also not let him watch bird videos as I don’t think that’s healthy at all. Budgies also need human interaction and stimuli so training is a good way to get that. My budgies train when they want to on their own time so dont be discouraged if there comes a day where the budgie wants nothing to do with you and instead do his own thing.

    Hi Nick! You've helped me learn so much about budgie care. You see I'm 13 and when I was 7 we had these 2 budgies summer and winter I literally cringe at the care we did for them back then (my entire family dose) all seed diet small cage and since I was young I decided to grab summer (an already agitated biting bird) with a peice of cloth. Since then we've selled summer and winter to people but I'm never ever going to treat a budgie like we did back then. Also a video idea I would like would be a Q n A and also what's the green thing around Nemos feet? Tysm nick for the educational videos of proper budgie care 😊 love from Canada

    • @Bird-Nuggets
      @Bird-Nuggets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Hina, I'm glad to hear you've understood your past mistakes.
      The green thing around Neo's feet is a band, budgies/birds that have a band were raised by a breeder, it's used for recognition purposes, etc.
      About the Q&A, sounds like a good idea! Hopefully sometime soon.

    My Budgies are so stubborn. They both love to fly around the room and hang around in the blinds but stay close to their cage. I can leave their cage door open all day long and stay inside as a safe space most of day. But even when I had one bird, she would just side step finger even with Millet from the beginning. They will take the millet spray but once any try for contact, food just doesn't matter anymore.

    My boys used to be perfectly fine with hands, until I took them to a vet who messed up horribly. The vet techs clipped their wings (when I didn't even ask them to, it was JUST a check up and nothing more than that) and to top it off they did a HORRIBLE job at clipping them. They were traumatized and hurt, they took so long to recover and I had to change the entire room to accommodate the fact that they could barely hop off the ground. I took action against the vet's office and obviously haven't taken them back to that vet, for any wondering. They were absolutely terrified of hands for so long though, I gave them space after the whole incident so this was still after some time. Now they can fly again and they're somewhat trusting again but I still have a lot of room to work with them though. They're at a stage where they will hop on sticks I put infront of them, and they'll even come land on my head or crawl into my hoodie. It's just a matter of getting them to trust my hands again. So thank you for the video here, I hope it helps.
    (Edit for spelling.)

None of the three are getting tamed.. Snow comes on my finger when I have food but then she goes away I just feel like giving up on taming the birds because it's been 3 months now and I can't tame them still.. Any advice on how to tame them..?

And also I don’t know what kind of cage like what size, or what things I need in the cage, all I have right now is toys, and food thing it has seeds and the other one has other kind of food and the last one has water, and with the toys is a swing. So what size, what cost, and what stuff in there?

    Thank you for all your help and suggestions. I’m still new to this. And have foolishly done the opposite not knowing your advice
    I’ve never man handled my budgie boys but I’ve used millet clipped in the cage to encourage them back in!
    I should have got goldfish! I work long hours as a single mum but my daughter and I felt so lost after our 18 year old cat passed away last year. We naturally miss her terribly but wished for some other addition to our home.
    My lovely grandma had budgies and they would rest on her shoulder as she was at home but she was so elderly and in her own.
    I know how rewarding and delightful they are! So We decided to invest in two budgies so they had company…
    but they are definitely more used today each other. They are alone a fair bit . I will now change things up and try my upmost to put our hands in gently for 5 minutes every day 👍🏼 and go from there x

    I tamed mine in a matter of seconds... Straight after reaching home. And after that few seconds, I let the two out :> They had some sort of connection with me, and I had one with them to. Same thing with the rest of the birds I had... All tamed in a few seconds. This is all true. I also tamed 2 in the same cage, its all ok

      Hey so he said I shouldnt let them out without tamed, right? So what if it could take months..? Should I not let them out for months then if not tamed by that time??

    How do you take your budgie to another room when there’s 4 in a cage and there’s not tamed and I only have 1 cage

    I made the mistake of letting my budgies out of their cage before they were tamed. I felt so bad because they would fly in their cage but seemed not that comfortable. So I let them out. Now they only some inside their cage when their hungry😅.

    Hello! I just adopted these two budgies from a home that could not care for them any longer. Their names are Joey & Apollo and their such gorgeous little boys and i really want to tame them properly! But, i've only had them for a couple days, and their still not allowed out of their cage. In the video you said that you shouldn't tame budgies that are in that same cage because their a distraction to each other and you should put one of them in a different room, but as you can see, i am unable to do that because their so new! What should i do? I really need someone's advice for taming them both without taking one to another room! Oh and i almost forgot, what cage do you use for your budgies? I'm thinking of sizing my budgies cage up because the cage that they came with was in my opinion a little small for 2 birds, or could you recommend some bird cages that are good for 2 budgies that are not too expensive?

    So just watched a video on what birds hate. My birds are really scared of me so they live in a cage for now. Should I take it out and risk it getting hurt? Or keep it in while i tame it.

    what should I do if I want to tame 2 budgies that have been in the same cage for almost a year. And they get along very well. I tried to put them in separate cages but they were looking for each other so I put them back in the same cage. What can I do to tame them?

    So if I’ve made a mistake is it a lost cause or is there hope? I’ve only had my budgie like 24 hours so I’m hoping I can start over the right way

    I made the mistake of letting out to early and I was crying after I got him back cus I know I stressed him out since my room is huge and tall and I had to grab him. But I am one lucky person since the bird is super calm and is already getting used to me
