Since I live in the desert in Arizona, I understand the need to reduce water usage, and a green lawn uses a ton of water. This landscape will be much better for the environment, plus it will be easier and less time consuming to maintain. I do miss green lawns, but I’ve really come to love the desert and a Mediterranean landscape. I think this guy is literally an an artist!!

This is gorgeous! I think people don’t realize how discouraged people are from having grass in their yards in LA, especially if you’re remodeling. We’re always in a drought!! This yard makes way more sense for the location of the house and looks beautiful
But the problem with that is that all the stone will heat up. Therefore, they actually forbade this "stones with few plants" design in Germany because it heats up the cities. But I get that you also have to reduce water consumption
@@tf3655 Actually light colored stone reflects heat and stays comfortable, it's dark stone that gets hot. I have stepping stones both light and dark and it is color that determines temperature.
@@tf3655 Additionally, this is why I don't like it when government mandates something 'for the good of the environment' because the usually make egregious assumptions that are a pain and hassle to reverse.
@@b_uppy often they have dark stones. Bees don't find flowers in these gardens. They measured grassy laws vs stone ones and had several degrees difference in temperature. Plants have a cooling effect. SO it makes totally sense to forbid them, especially in a country that usually has enough water.
Am I the only one that liked the “dirt” that everyone seems to hate? When I went to this restaurant/farm in Mexico they had the dirt as well and it just looked so natural and complimented all the desert plants! It looks like a beautiful little oasis
As warped says, it is NOT, dirt. But more like a very compacted sand. It would not be muddy even after a hard rain. These are called "fines". Loam and clay is very muddy, fines contain none of those.
This is my first time seeing Erick or hearing about him, and I am so impressed. This is one of the most thoughtful and well explained yet succinct design makeover videos I’ve ever seen. I appreciate that he thinks about the details how how she’s going to live in the space, but isn’t hokey about it or glossing over the details like some designers I’ve seen do. More Erick please!!!!!

@@thebluevelvetriver It's not about affording it, it's about what is ethical. When you live in California, you know that it is just not ethical to be watering a lawn when you are in a drought vulnerable state. And, we oftentimes have restrictions on when you can water grass (when we were in a bad drought) and so it would be a financially risky move to have that much grass, only for it to die during a bad drought.

This is GORGEOUS!! I love the care shown to balance both the aesthetic and sustainability aspects of this redesign . And good riddance to that grass! From the comments I can definitely see how ubiquitous people think lawns and grass should be and don’t realise how much labour and experimentation (and legislation!) has gone into making useless water hungry lawn grass seem like standard greenery. This is a wonderful time to reframe your ideas for the good of future design and home building.
I was a bit suspicious of getting rid of the grass because I think greenery calms the eye and the soul but seeing how the furniture was placed. And the landscape was shaped it turned out really nice. I love the pink flower on the wall of the house. It really gives the whole space a Mediterranean touch and the pergola is a beautiful add on!!
I don’t mind him getting rid of the grass. I mean, sis did have an intense gopher problem!☺️☺️ I think the design was innovative and exotic. I loved the result and that bougainvillea will grow beautifully over time!✨
the lawn was trashed +keeping the gophers there. guess most dont know that gophers kill any type o f plant by eating its roots and sometimes sucking them into the ground !

As a landscape architect, having worked for a few firms, he did an absolutely incredible job for 60k dollars. I know some companies that would slap a 200k price tag on a transformation like that.

Been following Jules since her beginning in fashion blogging and this backyard is so her aesthetic and style. I love how Erick designed her backyard. Big fan of the sand/stone/terracotta. Really reminds me of Spain. The greenery that works well with the heat and Californian sun is such a good choice. Also big fan of the giant dining table and mix of cozy cushions and metal HAY chairs.
The first thing I did when I bought my home was yank out the lawn and replace it with beautiful drought-tolerant plants and a multi-tiered hardscape. What a great improvement!!!
I’m down with no grass, especially to preserve water, but i just wish there was a type of “floor” like brick, stone, something! besides just dirt, looks unfinished
Wow, I loved the finished product. I miss the green moments since I am huge on nature, but I understand this look felt more practical for the location and taste of the homeowner. Excellent job; it definitely hit the Spanish~Mediterranean vibe, and I love that aesthetic as well. Every touch from the smell, sounds, lighting hit the spot for a cozy garden which makes this a 10/10 👌
Everyone keeps complaining about how the backyard ended up looking, whether people liked it or not this was the owners idea in the first place, this guy just works from what the customers want. She kept saying she wanted smth kinda spacious and aesthetic like, so I think he pretty much nailed a good job with this one. Also is the first episode of many, so go easy on him
60K would pay for half her house round these parts. Way too much for the job done, but then he probably is pricier than most designers, and also your labour cost in the US is 5x ours.
This is gorgeous, but a few opportunities were missed. One thing he forgot is hidden storage for the cushions for weather issues and for the patio cups and utensils. I think an enclosed Cart instead of the open small table would of been a better idea. If it were me I would of saved a grassy moment that moved through the space. Loved the pots and plants. And where is the BBQ, every back yard needs a place to cook, there was plenty of room left to create a small area for it and make the back space more usable. Other wise everything has to be carried down & back, to & from the table each time. Love the large slab and wondering what type of base he used? Loved the seating spaces he created. How about an outdoor shower close to the house, lol just dreaming. I love color so I would of added a few more pots & garden areas of color. Great home and enjoy the outdoor space!
But I agree with everything mentioned above... so many missed opportunities with that budget too... so much space... also the water feature could have been larger and more incorporated into the landscaping in that corner...

This is definitely a missed opportunity for a collaboration with a Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer. The planter beds and plant choices were lacking a bit of the ‘wow’ factor in my opinion. I would love to see a collaboration or project with a landscape architect on this channel. Also the ‘lavender’ in the video is actually Russian Sage….similar color, fragrant as well….but different plant! I loved the designer’s enthusiasm and outdoor furniture choices, the planters looked great as well. Sincerely, Plant nerd & landscape architect.🤓
He is definitely out of his element. And it is just one big patio. INTERIOR designers never can do exteriors well. I bet it never occurred to him to put a very slight pitch on that table slab, just for example. A very small lawn area would had made a huge difference, and a good area for for toddlers. The area that he was going to put a bistro chair might have been a good location. A circle or oval there lined with that rock and then, soil and grass might have worked and no mole problems and you can keep your eye on the kids in the center easily. That interlocking retaining wall is horrendous, and that pathetic "water feature" was at least 5-7K alone. So now they are going to use it everyday and he removed the BBQ? It looks like behind the raised deck against the house would be a good space to hide the BBQ and be convenient. "Passion" and "wanting to create MOMENTS" do NOT equal good solid design.
@@rockshot100: I really don’t get why water features have been so de rigueur the last 20 years. I prefer the sound of frogs, crickets, birds, and silence to that incessant trickling. I also think most people over-design their outdoor spaces with kitchens, furniture, lighting, and whatnot. I don’t want my outside to look like the inside.
The awning was a great idea for sure. The black-and-white stripe was perfect. Updating the lighting was a good idea too. I would have revamped the walled-in areas by simply adding more indigenous, flowering plants and left out the pebbles entirely. I would probably have changed the grassy area to clover if I could do so without killing the gophers. I may have added a shade tree somewhere and would have planted a vine to climb along the wall of the back house (creeping fig? jasmine?). Bougainvillea is beautiful but very pervasive. Potting it makes absolutely no sense. I would have likewise redone the BBQ area, but I don’t like how he walled it off. It felt cut off from the rest of the garden. I like the herringbone tile, but would have instead done small pavers, maybe in a herringbone pattern with grass growing between them. I also would have narrowed the wooden steps because they take up too much space. The CB2 furniture was an excellent choice. The concrete table is cool too. If more seating areas are needed one can always set them directly on the grass; I don’t get why people feel the need to remove it. I like being barefoot outdoors and prefer grass or clover 🍀 to gravel under my feet. Personally, I wouldn’t want all that furniture in my yard at all unless I’m throwing a party. Otherwise, 90% of that stuff would be stored away.
Spectacular result. An oasis I would never leave! The olive green Hay chairs are perfect-- a pop of color from nature that keeps them from being overwhelming. Someone, PLEASE tell Erick to work on his upspeak-- the upward inflection at the end of his sentences. He will sound more confident and professional if he doesn't sound like he's asking a question at the end of every sentence.
I get that not having grass is more convenient in LA, but now their backyard lends itself to an insane amount of dust/dirt on all of their items/surfaces. It's so dry/hot in LA and the winds pick up dirt like crazy! There is a new kind of stress is in their hands now.
Everything in the USA is expensive. I could build 2 modern 3 bedroom flats with landscaping and land cost included at that price in my country. However, I love the end result though. Absolutely gorgeous compared to before. The only reason I wouldn't do away with grass in my yard is because my dog and cat love it! I will however love to merge what his did with my grassy yard, half and half!
Yeah on the other hand, if you watch home renovation shows like Fixer Upper you're gonna be surprised at how cheap everything can be if you don't focus on going for the most luxurious things. With the stuff they do on these renovation shows (like $ 8,000 for a bathroom including tiles and all that) I could only get half of that in my country :D
I can understand why someone wouldn’t want grass in their garden, especially because of those animals in it, but instead of the dusty earth I would have chosen some floor tiles, stone or stuff like that to get rid of this dirty, dry and dusty look. Apart from that I love the new design

Love it!!!! Wish my yard looked like that! Gives me some great ideas to shoot for rather than the constant fight to try to keep a fully green yard...there are areas that never seem to allow the grass to flourish, only the weeds.
Wow. That is sensational. I love the change from grass to whatever he put there. It’s perfect. And i love the white walls and steps in the old bbq area. That area went from boring everyday to out of this world. Truly gifted designer.
I just read through the comments. What is the obsession with lawn? They are not drought tolerant and take a lot of resources to look good. And they have lots of bugs (and gophers) and make me itch. Getting rid of the lawn in this garden is a spectacular transformation.
Wow. This space is amazing. I love, love, the planting pots and the plants. Cladding the patio is perfect. I love the table - the size, color, and base. You gave me an idea for an indoor dining table. Finally, I never thought to use an awning as cover. I've been racking my brain about an outdoor room with a fireplace, but now I like the simplicity of a motorized awning.
Since they did away with the grass (sadly) I think it still needs more lush green foliage & less of the white gravel & stone. Green is cooling & fresh. Love the pots & furniture, though.
Superb transformation! Excellent flow, great furniture and styling. The garden now matches the style of the house. You just want to spend all your time there. Removing the grass was clever (water guzzling and labout intensive).
This is great! Would still love a spot for the barbecue and not a rough edge on that table. Can’t imagine how often you’d scratch your arms and hands on the edge of that stone. And I’d add more strings of lights! Overall he did a great job, although I wonder how comfortable those dining chairs and the furniture with the open backs are.
Right! I see lots of snagged blouses/shirts and scraped little ones foreheads from the natural slab, (not to mention stains). Can't see a safe place for little ones to sit and play either. Everything else is wonderful.

Great job! I like that everything makes sense to the space and is practical. Most people design to make it look pretty “for the gram” but if it’s not functional - it’s useless. Beautiful work!
⚡ In Los Angeles, to have a backyard that large, you must keep to the design style of the home. Previously, the owners modernized and darkened a Spanish-style backyard. The colors were too intense, and the elements were not sustainable. When you look at Erick's delicious designs, it became lighter and airy because of the sustainable elements. Also, notice the Xeriscape - no mowing nightmares. Regardless of the zone (Cocktail, Dinner, or Firepit), he nailed the nuances of each area. My only offer of improvement are few: • The Dining Chairs can match the scale of the stone Dining Table. Fortunately, chairs are not a permanent element. She can swap out at anytime. • The BBQ Grill needs a home more than self-sufficient grass patches (period). Overall, the greatest testimonial is seeing her family unite. The kids found their area, immediately. Adults can be free to reminisce and celebrate new memories. That's exactly what you desire, when hosting your loved ones. 🤩🌿🌳🍸🍹🍧🌻🌻🌻
Here is a sink. There are two faucets and if you turn on one, water comes out. I'm a really big fan of cold water. So I only use the left handle. But if you have company, and they like hot water, they can use the right handle. I also like the idea of keeping a rag next to the sink, so you can dry your hands.
I love this! It looks beautiful and is exactly what I would love to have if I lived in LA. Lawns are not a natural part of Southern California ecosystem and cannot survive without excessive watering- it is bad for the environment! It is so much better in a hot dry climate to have a lawn-free yard and embrace greenery that naturally grows in that climate!!
I love it 🖤 As someone with a big family myself, it’s a perfectly set up space for entertaining a lot of people and I’m loving all the furniture and design choices he made. Once all the plants start to grow bigger it’s gonna make it green and lush looking without the gopher holes and the need for excessive watering.

Love the transformation but like a lot of comments here I do miss the grass. I get grass isn't water friendly but it does help with cooling. The space feels quite bright and hot now... Also: what happened to the poor gophers 🤔😅
Ha really this update is meant to be as low maintenance as possible. Having a nice and green lawn means to upkeep and actually having to work on keeping it that way.
I really love how he transformed the backyard into something that’s cozy and laid back yet alive and something that’s pretty yet conventional. The overall flow of the place and the attention to what this backyard will be used for brings the space together in an amazing way.
I think it's fabulous! It suits the house and the climate perfectly! I may have missed it, and have read several comments to see if anyone asked, but there appeared to be another building at the back of the yard,. That was not explained.
I love the transformation. It's def not for everyone, but for anyone who lives in the scorching heat of LA for most of the year, and the fact that Calif is in a major drought, the DG makes sense. Really like all the seating areas, the Mediterranean vibe, especially the bench under the umbrella near the water feature. I like that the dining table has an organic lived in rough stone feeling. Erick did a wonderful job, and so charismatic. (The squirrel and gophers prob don't agree tho lol).
Beautiful!! I could live there. I love the California look of relaxed elements, with natural elements, very organic. I grew up in the SFV and I really miss this type of design.
It's nice for a chic hotel or something like that but I think not very suitable for a home without the grass. Keeping the grass, or at least certain patches of it would have been a lot nicer. Also - what about the fact that she asked for a huge table to fit tons of people, and she still just got a table with 6 chairs? I understand you can add more but with 60k spent already, there should have been more chairs at that table for sure.
$60k is crazy... that 'water feature'? A big pot with a copper pipe and a wire sticking out of it? There's a saying in Spanish 'my casa is your casa' - ah yes, the old Spanglish saying This is crazy
People saying they wish it wasn’t dirt and wish there was more of a “floor”… I’m trying to imagine a tile that wouldn’t be too distracting. Based on the rest of the backyard, his choice also matches really well with the rest of the color scheme. Looks like a perfect LA home backyard!

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Paving the entire state of CA would be 'practical'; that's no reason to do it.

Style you see in Spain and Italy. Really natural and effortless. Not trying too much but at the same time the vibe at night is classy.

Been following Jules since her beginning in fashion blogging and this backyard is so her aesthetic and style. I love how Erick designed her backyard. Big fan of the sand/stone/terracotta. Really reminds me of Spain. The greenery that works well with the heat and Californian sun is such a good choice. Also big fan of the giant dining table and mix of cozy cushions and metal HAY chairs.
The first thing I did when I bought my home was yank out the lawn and replace it with beautiful drought-tolerant plants and a multi-tiered hardscape. What a great improvement!!!
I’m down with no grass, especially to preserve water, but i just wish there was a type of “floor” like brick, stone, something! besides just dirt, looks unfinished

Wow, I loved the finished product. I miss the green moments since I am huge on nature, but I understand this look felt more practical for the location and taste of the homeowner. Excellent job; it definitely hit the Spanish~Mediterranean vibe, and I love that aesthetic as well. Every touch from the smell, sounds, lighting hit the spot for a cozy garden which makes this a 10/10 👌
Everyone keeps complaining about how the backyard ended up looking, whether people liked it or not this was the owners idea in the first place, this guy just works from what the customers want. She kept saying she wanted smth kinda spacious and aesthetic like, so I think he pretty much nailed a good job with this one. Also is the first episode of many, so go easy on him

This is gorgeous, but a few opportunities were missed. One thing he forgot is hidden storage for the cushions for weather issues and for the patio cups and utensils. I think an enclosed Cart instead of the open small table would of been a better idea. If it were me I would of saved a grassy moment that moved through the space. Loved the pots and plants. And where is the BBQ, every back yard needs a place to cook, there was plenty of room left to create a small area for it and make the back space more usable. Other wise everything has to be carried down & back, to & from the table each time. Love the large slab and wondering what type of base he used? Loved the seating spaces he created. How about an outdoor shower close to the house, lol just dreaming. I love color so I would of added a few more pots & garden areas of color. Great home and enjoy the outdoor space!

This is definitely a missed opportunity for a collaboration with a Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer. The planter beds and plant choices were lacking a bit of the ‘wow’ factor in my opinion. I would love to see a collaboration or project with a landscape architect on this channel. Also the ‘lavender’ in the video is actually Russian Sage….similar color, fragrant as well….but different plant! I loved the designer’s enthusiasm and outdoor furniture choices, the planters looked great as well.

He is definitely out of his element. And it is just one big patio. INTERIOR designers never can do exteriors well. I bet it never occurred to him to put a very slight pitch on that table slab, just for example. A very small lawn area would had made a huge difference, and a good area for for toddlers. The area that he was going to put a bistro chair might have been a good location. A circle or oval there lined with that rock and then, soil and grass might have worked and no mole problems and you can keep your eye on the kids in the center easily. That interlocking retaining wall is horrendous, and that pathetic "water feature" was at least 5-7K alone. So now they are going to use it everyday and he removed the BBQ? It looks like behind the raised deck against the house would be a good space to hide the BBQ and be convenient.
"Passion" and "wanting to create MOMENTS" do NOT equal good solid design.
@@rockshot100: I really don’t get why water features have been so de rigueur the last 20 years. I prefer the sound of frogs, crickets, birds, and silence to that incessant trickling.
I also think most people over-design their outdoor spaces with kitchens, furniture, lighting, and whatnot. I don’t want my outside to look like the inside.
The awning was a great idea for sure. The black-and-white stripe was perfect. Updating the lighting was a good idea too. I would have revamped the walled-in areas by simply adding more indigenous, flowering plants and left out the pebbles entirely. I would probably have changed the grassy area to clover if I could do so without killing the gophers. I may have added a shade tree somewhere and would have planted a vine to climb along the wall of the back house (creeping fig? jasmine?). Bougainvillea is beautiful but very pervasive. Potting it makes absolutely no sense. I would have likewise redone the BBQ area, but I don’t like how he walled it off. It felt cut off from the rest of the garden. I like the herringbone tile, but would have instead done small pavers, maybe in a herringbone pattern with grass growing between them. I also would have narrowed the wooden steps because they take up too much space. The CB2 furniture was an excellent choice. The concrete table is cool too. If more seating areas are needed one can always set them directly on the grass; I don’t get why people feel the need to remove it. I like being barefoot outdoors and prefer grass or clover 🍀 to gravel under my feet. Personally, I wouldn’t want all that furniture in my yard at all unless I’m throwing a party. Otherwise, 90% of that stuff would be stored away.

Spectacular result. An oasis I would never leave! The olive green Hay chairs are perfect-- a pop of color from nature that keeps them from being overwhelming. Someone, PLEASE tell Erick to work on his upspeak-- the upward inflection at the end of his sentences. He will sound more confident and professional if he doesn't sound like he's asking a question at the end of every sentence.
The weather in Los Angeles is incredible, living outdoors and entertaining year around.
I really like the styling and the Spanish look but keeping a bit of the grass would have made the space look better.

I get that not having grass is more convenient in LA, but now their backyard lends itself to an insane amount of dust/dirt on all of their items/surfaces. It's so dry/hot in LA and the winds pick up dirt like crazy! There is a new kind of stress is in their hands now.

Everything in the USA is expensive. I could build 2 modern 3 bedroom flats with landscaping and land cost included at that price in my country. However, I love the end result though. Absolutely gorgeous compared to before. The only reason I wouldn't do away with grass in my yard is because my dog and cat love it! I will however love to merge what his did with my grassy yard, half and half!
Yeah on the other hand, if you watch home renovation shows like Fixer Upper you're gonna be surprised at how cheap everything can be if you don't focus on going for the most luxurious things. With the stuff they do on these renovation shows (like $ 8,000 for a bathroom including tiles and all that) I could only get half of that in my country :D

I can understand why someone wouldn’t want grass in their garden, especially because of those animals in it, but instead of the dusty earth I would have chosen some floor tiles, stone or stuff like that to get rid of this dirty, dry and dusty look. Apart from that I love the new design

Love it!!!! Wish my yard looked like that! Gives me some great ideas to shoot for rather than the constant fight to try to keep a fully green yard...there are areas that never seem to allow the grass to flourish, only the weeds.

Wow. That is sensational. I love the change from grass to whatever he put there. It’s perfect. And i love the white walls and steps in the old bbq area. That area went from boring everyday to out of this world. Truly gifted designer.
I just read through the comments. What is the obsession with lawn? They are not drought tolerant and take a lot of resources to look good. And they have lots of bugs (and gophers) and make me itch. Getting rid of the lawn in this garden is a spectacular transformation.
Dang, I like the seating and the fireplace and at the same time I miss the garden & a bit of greenery. Doesn’t it feel a bit dry & vapid without it ?

Wow. This space is amazing. I love, love, the planting pots and the plants. Cladding the patio is perfect. I love the table - the size, color, and base. You gave me an idea for an indoor dining table. Finally, I never thought to use an awning as cover. I've been racking my brain about an outdoor room with a fireplace, but now I like the simplicity of a motorized awning.
Since they did away with the grass (sadly) I think it still needs more lush green foliage & less of the white gravel & stone. Green is cooling & fresh. Love the pots & furniture, though.

Superb transformation! Excellent flow, great furniture and styling. The garden now matches the style of the house. You just want to spend all your time there. Removing the grass was clever (water guzzling and labout intensive).
This is great! Would still love a spot for the barbecue and not a rough edge on that table. Can’t imagine how often you’d scratch your arms and hands on the edge of that stone. And I’d add more strings of lights! Overall he did a great job, although I wonder how comfortable those dining chairs and the furniture with the open backs are.
Right! I see lots of snagged blouses/shirts and scraped little ones foreheads from the natural slab, (not to mention stains). Can't see a safe place for little ones to sit and play either. Everything else is wonderful.

I think people need to focus more on biodiversity and keep the yard or some area for wild flowers or plants. Insects need some space man.

This should be a series
⚡ In Los Angeles, to have a backyard that large, you must keep to the design style of the home. Previously, the owners modernized and darkened a Spanish-style backyard. The colors were too intense, and the elements were not sustainable.
When you look at Erick's delicious designs, it became lighter and airy because of the sustainable elements. Also, notice the Xeriscape - no mowing nightmares. Regardless of the zone (Cocktail, Dinner, or Firepit), he nailed the nuances of each area.
My only offer of improvement are few:
• The Dining Chairs can match the scale of the stone Dining Table. Fortunately, chairs are not a permanent element. She can swap out at anytime.
• The BBQ Grill needs a home more than self-sufficient grass patches (period).
Overall, the greatest testimonial is seeing her family unite. The kids found their area, immediately. Adults can be free to reminisce and celebrate new memories. That's exactly what you desire, when hosting your loved ones.

Here is a sink. There are two faucets and if you turn on one, water comes out. I'm a really big fan of cold water. So I only use the left handle. But if you have company, and they like hot water, they can use the right handle. I also like the idea of keeping a rag next to the sink, so you can dry your hands.

I love this! It looks beautiful and is exactly what I would love to have if I lived in LA. Lawns are not a natural part of Southern California ecosystem and cannot survive without excessive watering- it is bad for the environment! It is so much better in a hot dry climate to have a lawn-free yard and embrace greenery that naturally grows in that climate!!
I love it 🖤 As someone with a big family myself, it’s a perfectly set up space for entertaining a lot of people and I’m loving all the furniture and design choices he made. Once all the plants start to grow bigger it’s gonna make it green and lush looking without the gopher holes and the need for excessive watering.

Ha really this update is meant to be as low maintenance as possible. Having a nice and green lawn means to upkeep and actually having to work on keeping it that way.
Yeah and all those pot plants sure dry out, and the fabric pillows will probably get dusty and dirty and need to be cleaned or packed away after use.
To be fair, it is what the client wanted soooo mission accomplished. And for conservation purposes, this requires way less water use.

I think it's fabulous! It suits the house and the climate perfectly! I may have missed it, and have read several comments to see if anyone asked, but there appeared to be another building at the back of the yard,. That was not explained.

I love the transformation. It's def not for everyone, but for anyone who lives in the scorching heat of LA for most of the year, and the fact that Calif is in a major drought, the DG makes sense. Really like all the seating areas, the Mediterranean vibe, especially the bench under the umbrella near the water feature. I like that the dining table has an organic lived in rough stone feeling. Erick did a wonderful job, and so charismatic. (The squirrel and gophers prob don't agree tho lol).

It's nice for a chic hotel or something like that but I think not very suitable for a home without the grass. Keeping the grass, or at least certain patches of it would have been a lot nicer.
Also - what about the fact that she asked for a huge table to fit tons of people, and she still just got a table with 6 chairs? I understand you can add more but with 60k spent already, there should have been more chairs at that table for sure.

Remember a lawn will soak up water and help ease flooding unless replaced by a good permeable patio and drainage.
