At 2:56. Yep. I've described "The Gilded Age" as a show like the "Real Housewives" but without the screaming, the screeching, the fake faces, the fake boobs, the fake clothes and the fake fortunes. Everything else, however, is there--the delicious backstabbing, the vicious gossiping, the nasty swipes and counter-swipes among cultured, sophisticated women with actual, real money. The history is shoehorned in there, which I really like as well. :D

The show is amazing. It’s great that today’s issues are represented, however, that should not be the reason contemporary people “deign” to show interest in history. The Victorians were the architects of the present; what have wealthy people given society that compares with The Brooklyn Bridge or Central Park? Respect your elders, lol.

I enjoy the historical and the costuming is fun but what am I missing? The actors have little chemistry and their delivery is more like a stage play. Julian Fellows looked at a few US history books and grabbed his Dowton outline. He kills off the preacher at his happiest just like Mathew Crowley!
HBO needs to renew this show for a 3rd, 4th and 5th season. It's the only reason to keep HBO.

I am still shocked that this show hasn't received the same recognition as Downton Abbey. In my opinion, it's even better
