Here's what I think will happen in season 3. I think there will be a great deal of conflict between Bertha and George over Gladys and the Duke. However, I think the saving grace in all of this will be Gladys actually falling in love with the Duke, making everything okay. Maude and Oscar will marry for a number of reasons. First, I think she regrets swindling him, and also marrying Oscar will allow them to share the money and legitimize her place in society. However, I think they will also marry because they share something in common. I think Maude is a lesbian and in the same boat as Larry. They marry in friendship and agree to keep their respective lovers secret.
You never know. We were told Cora loved Robert. Julian likes to repeat aspects of story lines it seems to me. I have noticed a parallel or 2 with Downton Abbey. Robert lost their money in a bad investment scheme. Matthew inherited money and saved the family. Oscar lost money in a scam. Ada inherited money and saved the day. Jenny Jerome did love Winston's father in real life even though their marriage turned out lousy. Both cheated but they started off with love at least on Jenny's side.
If Gladys ends up with the duke, I suspect something went awry with the fellow she was crushing on. Either he soon becomes interested in someone else or else we find out his family was not as solvent as people thought and he was looking for an heiress to bale them out and Gladys decides she prefers the duke who made no bones he needed an heiress instead of being underhanded. However, who knows? Maybe Gladys does end up with that guy she liked. Perhaps Truner's rich hubby croaks, he looked 90; and the duke decides to marry her for her late hubby's million's.
@peachygal4153 I kind of hope Gladys does marry the Duke and that they end up as happy and in love as Lord and Lady Grantham. I also hope that everyone realizes that Bertha actually has her daughter's best interest at heart. I think Bertha, at her core, is a feminist and a realist. She understands that in order for her daughter to have the best life possible, with the most choice, respect, and independence, at this point in history, she must marry as well as possible. That's also why I don't think Bertha will have a problem with Larry marrying Marion. She knows that as long as Larry marries someone that is respectable, he'll be fine because he's a man.
If it’s going by the history of the Vanderbilt’s Gladys will marry the Duke and have a few children before the marriage becomes sour and ends in divorce.

@peachygal4153 You make some very good points.

Gladys' father promised her that she wouldn't have to marry a man she didn't want to marry.
So you know nothing more than we do LOL
Such BS that they don’t have a budget! What else is HBO spending money on?
Gladys' father promised her that she wouldn't have to marry a man she didn't want to marry.
Yes. I hope George keeps his promise
If they continue to base that family on the Vanderbilts she will have to marry him.
