Uli shows how to shred without shredding. While he can play lots of notes and fast, it its always heartfelt, honest, and purposeful. Never pretentious. I love it that he just uses some overdrive, just enough to do the job. The sound is so raw and lively and the way he controls it is masterful.
His guitar playing sounds just as stellar as it did on my remastered Tokyo Tapes from 1978....Fucking amazing!! The Scorpions seriously need to have a giant farewell tour with Klaus Meine, Rudolf and Michael Schenker, Francis Bucholz, Herman Rarebell, and Uli Jon Roth. The guitarists could switch off a bit, but they really need to have 3 guitarists at all times so they can perfectly recreate the dual-lead guitar harmonies.
Francis stole money from the band,so i dont think they want to colaborate with him anymore. Herman quit the band coz he didnt wanted to play new songs,but he was at 40 years reunion. Michael has his own way of work,if he wanted to go back to the band,he would do this long time ago. But he was also at the reunion at Wacken 2006. Uli left the band coz he didnt wanted to change his style.

Same feeling bro. I saw the Scorpions in 2007 (for a second time, after 2005) and Uli was a special guest with them. They played many songs with him from their "era" and even had him sit on "When the Smoke is Going Down", which of course is a Jabs-era song. Uli nailed it perfectly. A dream come true to see the great man live in person

Everything's out of tune. Especially the singer, who somehow gets excused being an ok looking guy, but is frankly a terrible singer. Maybe the stage monitors weren't working? Ullis guitar gets thrown shockingly out of tune just before the Sails song, nearly a whole tone or semi-tone out, probably whammy bar or guitar structure malfunction. The fact that it isn't corrected straight afterward, suggests that they were unaware.

Alot of the guitar parts sounded out of tune but in trance was brilliant. This makes me wanna go and listen to old scorpions music. Only scorps album I owned was in trance years ago on cassette loved it must try get that old stuff again. I have the family reunion dvd from wacken with uli and Michael great concert.

I met uli 20 years ago at Bradford at George's hall legends of rock gig met jack bruce Glenn Hughes and Frank Marino that night too have all autographs to this day great night

Think is ... it wasn't out of tune. If it was then how did he get in tune on some parts and not in tune on others? It is a type of organized chaos style of playing mixed with effects.

Check out Lonesome Crow from 72, no Ulrich ( very young Michael Schenker ) but great album. This and In Trance are my favorite of the studio lp's.
