I gotta hand it to Morse...! This guy is so consistent, yet so down to earth (no fuss, no show offs), that Deep Purple are so lucky to have him. Monster guitar player! Of course Uli and Vai are both legends!

Uli is one of the greats and totally underrated

    • @mrlaserboy
      @mrlaserboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Not underrated. Anyone who knows him admires his playing. He is under appreciated and sort of too unknown to the average people. His name is not as big as Steve Vais for example. That's a bummer but I don't think that matters to him. I've met him a few times in person. A friend of mine builds his sky guitars. He is on another level of life and his mind is like in another dimension. That's why he seems a little like Hendrix to me. He is just spiritually so deep connected to the guitar. It's amazing

I've heard multi guitarist 'jams' before, and usually around Jimi's stuff, but this is the best I have heard. On other jams, there was no separation, or definition between the players, each trying to 'out play' each other. This was well mixed, and for a jam, well executed. A great homage to a great man, innovator and genius.

the drums are very hard for this song - and it is so refreshing to see and hear the love and respect for ULI - I have to say that his work with scorps puts him at the very top of all guitarists - even when Michael came in he could not size up - and that's saying a ton for someone I love - but I think msg was just the whole sound - and even though that Wass true Wirth scorps, Ali brought out in them so much - not until humanity had I heard anything close

In 26 years as a sound company tech, I cannot say I enjoyed working with any guitarist as much as Steve Morse. When we toured with the Dregs, it was special. I was hoping they would turn Steve loose but he has no need to prove anything to anybody.

Ulrich John Roth!!!! ... listen to Scorpions"Lonesome Crow","In Trance ",Live in Japan that double album, and his other works...and you'll come to wonder why he's a bit under rated,as one of the world's greatest guitarist...

He wasn’t on Lonesome Crow, that was Michael and Rudolph Schenker. But I agree with the Scorpions stuff. Electric Sun was great too.

he isnt under-rated they know he is tops of the rock he could play classical till you weep his only peer in this would be blackmore rock style and classical --i laugh watch the others play licks after hearing uli they are like students lol steve vai hilarious

Yeah, Lonesome Crow was Michael. But all of Uli’s stuff is just magic. One of my all time favorite guitarists. He’s one of the very best on the planet

@@paulkcormier : I've been a huge fan of Uli Roth, Steve Vai, and Steve Morse since the early 1980's. Being different doesn't make one worse, or better. Each of them can do things the others can't. You know, this whole thing about "the best" was summed up perfectly by Jimi Hendrix, who when asked what he thought about people saying he was the "best guitarist" said: _"Maybe the best guitarist in this chair."_
And while Blackmore is great and all too, he's not in the same league as Uli, Vai, or Morse. I can easily play anything he did by ear, but for a lot of Vai and especially Steve Morse, I have to study it first. Uli actually less so, but that's just because I am more classically influenced and Vai and Morse both use a lot of jazz harmony. And that's something Uli doesn't do much at all of, other than a couple of chords here and there.
Whereas Steve Vai is Berklee Grad (the most prestigious jazz school in the country). He got a job transcribing Frank Zappas music by transcribing _The Black Page,_ Zappas most complex piece of music, and mailing it to him. He also played in Zappas band for while: the band noted for fostering a ton of the best musicians there were at the time. You just can't get a better seal of approval as a rock musician.
Steve Morse is a Music graduate from the University of Miami where he studied classical and jazz guitar. The same university that both Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorious came from. Interesting side note, Steve worked as a co-pilot for a couple of years, but I digress. Morse can also play such a hige variety of styles amazingly well. None of the other guitarists anyone has mentioned here has come anywhere near Morse as far as that goes.
Maybe you just don't have the ear for jazz harmony, and that's fine, but typically jazz harmony is a lot more complex. There are modern classical composers who use more complex harmony like we hear in jazz, but that's not the stuff Uli Roth is playing. He seems to prefer older classical harmony. This isn't a bad thing, I most often prefer that myself, but it's not as difficult to learn the theory.
Anyway, bashing on anyone, but especially players like Steve Vai and Steve Morse only makes *you* look bad. Not them.
      Just something to think about.
