NFS Carbon and Most Wanted are by far my favourite NFS games of the Entire Franchise, no debate whatsoever. These NFS games that I mention are like the symbol of Yin&Yang☯️ in my opinion.
Carbon is my quilty pleasure. I love that game, finished it many times but I know it could be better. Bigger maps, or more gangs to settle? Or maybe M3 GTR available in shop, not after finishing campaign? Also, great Cut Content Showcase. That game needs to get multiplayer back.
My favorite NFS of all time, I played this so much on my PS2 now I have the Krazy NFS Carbon mod and still play it. I don't care that it lived in the shadow of MW, it's always been my favorite
The 5600 Drift Testing Map is more or less a port of the UG2 URL track. I don't think URL races were ever intended though; they did kinda suck (especially the Airport ones) Also apparently there was a Drag testing map; suggesting drag races were considered for Carbon but quickly dropped in development. Could just be a leftover.
I'll admit reading the comments hearing ppl saying that the game was rushed.. meanwhile I'm sitting here only after playing Carbon once (after Most wanted a few times) and I already felt like the game was rushed without even looking it up. Three different classes must've been the biggest take on the development of the game, since there aren't at all that many races, and overall not really that much to do (achievement cards were added so woo for that). Many dispatch lines were also taken right from Most Wanted, and I sincerely wish for a complete remaster of Carbon in the near future to see what the devs really wanted to make for us that they couldn't back then.
I bet that would be even better game than MW. Shame that EA rushed it. Those demos have different shaders that gives me chills . Love the atmosphere of Carbon. Engine in NFS carbon is actually capable have Palmont and Rockport with day/night cycle. They were considering those options but due to technical limits of older consoles PS2/XBOX/WII they scrapped it in rush. Only with mods we can imagine possible. Tuning is awesome in this game . For that time. My lovely childhood game oh man. Like it was yesterday that I bought it on Playstation 2. That have Rumble on controllers and blondie girl that is starting races.
When I see Carbon I always think, if they only focused on releasing the game first for the 2 main consoles and PC and then porting it to other platforms, it wouldn't help the game to be more complete and full of content with more hours of gameplay , because it seems like this game was made in a hurry and had several versions to port
I remember watching the IGN trailer and thinking “this is so cool” but being worried that the ps2 version (I only had a ps2 still) was going to suck compared to the ps3/360 version. Ps2 version was still great
This game is great but some things couldve made it even better: - They shouldve turned some of the allies into other bosses to race. This game always felt short and i beat it once in 2 hours. - Use the bounty system as well, the cops felt so useless. The cops are basically copy pasted from MW but with the bounty system turned off. - Have the difficulty increased, i beat all bosses beside Darius with a stock RX8 and i had 400k cash not spent yet.
I wonder how the game would look like if BlackBox could actually finish Mystery City map aka: San Juan which was supposed to be the main city in this game.
