Oh man, thank you for covering undercover! Seriously, this game was honestly the biggest missed opportunity in NFS. The core concepts, and story were the best in the franchise. Unfortunately the devs couldn't execute on their vision
I know getting from concept art to the actual thing is difficult but damn, this art with the cranes all throught the highway, the mountain top filled with resident buildings are looking so good.

yeah, if u look closer into it some canyons such as lookout point have detailed water textures, such as the ones u see in palmont, whereas other canyons have low quality water textures. definitely interesting

The concept art really helps me understand the aesthetic they were aiming for. The final game with it's weird area color/unfinished day cycle looks very bad. The X360 Proto kinda looks close to the artwork in terms of color and aesthetics. If I remember correctly people who have played the proto build say that the car handling was mildly better than the final game, though not by a lot.
idk why the handling would be worse in the release version though. graphics make sense because you've gotta optimize your game, sure, but butchering the handling?

If I could only remake one NFS game, it would be Undercover. Even still, I think it has the best map in this series. Its vibe is not at all similar to the rest of the games in the series, it has a unique atmosphere that plays with your soul. I even prefer to play with the piss filter.
Loved the video First of all, what the f**k is that at 0:46 😭🙏, looks like a nightmare, the 2:19 part, oh man, made me so sad with the music seeing the empty carcass of the 300C Great choice of using the map music for the video, really fits I think EA should have given vacations to the devs after most wanted 05, they deserved it for making such a hit game, carbon should have been released in 2007, pro street in 2009 and undercover 2011, those games needed more time Also, bruh, 2006 to 2008 must been horrible for the devs, working on carbon, the idea of pro street, skate, nba street homecourt and undercover, like holy cow, the amount of projects for such a short time, i'll never know if EA demanded blackbox with this amount of projects in such a short time or blackbox ambition to do more stuff backfired on them ( sry if all of this looks like a mess lol)

Undercover could’ve easily been on one the best nfs games…I had so much high hopes I remember playing the demo, this game felt nice and fresh. But after release wooooohhhhhh then I realized they even make 2 more games just to make up for how old gen can’t compete with the graphics….this game told south so fast….ugh what a waste honestly but deep down this game was so freakin cool.
honestly I always loved Undercover, yeah it's janky, cheesy, buggy, whatever, but I still love it. I love the cop chatter, the car list is insane, the cls 63 and m6 are my favorites by far. and also, its a game made by blackbox with pursuit breakers and the good ol' speedbreaker. and the god damn helicopter always stressing you out by sticking to your tail, making you unable to escape.

Huh, i always called this the failed most wanted 2 remake i didnt know that mw2 was one of it's original potential names neither had i heard of the chase that's cool. What most people don't realize including ea devs at the time is what most wasted was and what made it sell so well Most wanted was a lesser reskinned nfsug2 with a huge focus on a mechanic , cops Undercover focused too much on its story of cops instead of actually being a good game - it isn't the piss filter which they tried so crudely to replicate that made it great So if their goal was a most wanted 2 I'd advance the cop mechanic , find a new reason to shape a story around it and make a beautiful game that feels good and is fun with all these extras ontop but then again that wouldn't be fully unique like most wanted was for it's time which means it wouldn't sell as much as most wanted did which happened anyways So EAs best bet was to change the formula into something unique and exciting which i believe was researched and is why we have prostreet - they gave us undercover as a gift to the fans per say of mw,and pro street was the hot seller (To me carbon is a weird exception to EAs rulebook of moneymaking -both fresher than mw and a gift to us which is why I think it's the most perfect black box era nfs) If only we could find actual unique ways to improve games nowdays rather than reminiscing of the past

@@Ricys no, haven’t you seen the gta san andreas maps and stuff ported over to nfsmw? even in carbon the world 2 carbon mod thats been out for quite a while now. the tool isn’t publicly available so you can’t really import something yourself as far as i’m aware, but you can download the maps that were already imported! edit:also i remember reading on nfst that a developer’s xbox gamer tag thingy was showing him playing a game named underground 3, which turned out to be carbon
@@DIAS_6.3 toyota was available in undercover though, honda and acura might be missing from the game for the same reason as why they didn't appear in most wanted and somehow appeared in pro street... they dislike the idea of street racing and cops.
I know this game gets a ton of hate but i have a soft spot for it. I liked the car list and customization, and i enjoyed the races. The only i strongly dislike is the police
i liked the cops from undercover the most. they don't play around [unless they're on early heat levels just like carbon or mw]. the helicopter is also another stress factor added since it doesn't want to drop from your tail whatsoever.
the xbox 360 demo of undercover makes me wanna unironically cry. the graphics were pleasing to look at and the god damn shadows were insane for a game during that time.

I kind of wish that Tri City Bay had some "grit" to it. It feels too clean, somehow. Speaking of which, the image at 12:30 feels like what Sunset Hills COULD have been. Like, the outskirts of Sunset Hills where Port Crescent would hypothetically be seen in the distance.

If you use Reshade on top of Heat, you could probably create a similar vibe, but it would take some trial and error.
Tri-City Bay design looks better on concept arts than the final version.

This last screenshot's got more of a Terrorfive vibes to me than Undercover.

The Nissan 350Z got replaced by the 370Z in the next gen versions, but its present on the PS2 version.
