1- Black and white 2- Levels- Redure a little bit the color ramp 3-curves- push midle a bit up 4-Duplicate 5-filter-->3d-->generate bump map--> push high to the middle, push blur to remove small details 6-put original over duplicated --> gausian blur to remove detail 7-> put it to overlay
Hi! Thank you for this tutorial! I managed the part in photoshop but am struggling to make a file ready for 3d print after that. Also, I don't have CAD. Any advice? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Pretty good but I think you contrasted and washed out the roundness of the rocks too much to where they became too flat on top compared to the source texture
I've noticed that since 2020+, the 3d filters (normal and bump) have been completely bugged. They freeze up photoshop and glitch the interface. Anyone else had this issue?
They are not the same. A normal map fakes the illusion of detail but can be see to be fake when close, a height map is used to tessalate the geomatry giving the model real detail.
Lot of work for mediocre result! You should use the rock generator script and use the ribbon paint geometry and then bake the displacement at least you will have a good result instead of this. Nobody can make decent displacement from picture to this day.

There's no 3D filter in the newest version of PS, Photopea allows for Normal generation though
Luckily I use pirate photoshop that allows it. I can't understand those decisions in such a big company...@@Native_Creation

Yup, me, every freaking time.
This only works in PS 22.2 and below. Adobe has abandoned the 3D features.
Super helpful thank you
Can you still export as .tga from Photoshop? I just installed a trial version & it has no Save As option for .tga, only png.
So it's just creating lights. Got it. I thought it was Heat-Based (Hot and Cold)
Great tutorial! Can the height map be saved from within photoshop as a STL?
Did it work? That's what I'm trying to do now
Great stuff! Thank you for this!
Hi Good Sir, does this work on lumion? i dont know why it looks distorted and doesnt work. is it exclusively for max?
Trying to make a parallax texture for skyrim but damn, It's so difficult to make a good height maps.
It is indeed quite challenging especially considering there is a difference between height and displacement.
How would I go about creating a height map in zbrush for a seamless texture? I already done all the other maps.

@@GameDevMan thnk u.. Helped lot to understand
Normal maps react to lighting at all angles to better fake the depth.
Aren't u using vray
How would I transfer this to Lightwave 3D 2018 software?
went way to fast when you were on 3d max
