I told my son that despite the age, my 20 years old FZR still very Strong and that Hayabusa would not surpass until 290Km/h despite only 5 speeds available. IN principle he doubted. The FZR you all see in the Picture, I sold it 12 years ago to buy a car to my wife. My son was talking with his teacher who said that a friend had na "old stuff" to sell.....I went to see and believe... it was my FZR (only the exaust was not the original ).........I bought it back and now with 48000 km is fully functional......my son also love his YZF 750 (1994) also fully operational. We ride together now. best regards to all..........
I had a 1993 FZR 1000 that I got for an absolute bargain. I had a 2002 R-1 to compare. What a huge surprise the FZR was. Essentially the same engine as the R-1 but just shit handling. It had mountains of torque down low and gave me tunnel vision in the first 3 gears revving it hard, put a smile on my face. In the quarter mile the FZR is a early 10 second motorcycle, look up its specifications, it was the bike of the decade back then! I remember letting a friend take the FZR for a ride, he came back shaking "That old bike is fast" The original Fire Blade eventually put the FZR out of business in popularity until Yamaha made a came back with the first R-1 in 98
2 Queens from diferent eras! incredible machines! of course the busa outstands it. but what she can do until a certain speed is awsome. and it´s 10 years older in tecnologie
the old FZR held on a lot longer than I thought it would. Not bad considering it's age and 300 less cc engine capacity. I love my 89 FZR1000. Parts are hard to find for the old girl, but it's worth the trouble
jason rolfe I appreciate the help. I thought the same and have enough extras to build a second bike if i geta set of wheels, a frame, a harness, and TCI box, its the rubber of all things. the BT 016s are getting hard to find.
I am cosidering buying the fzr1000. the guy says he dropped a new engine in it and it needs a new wiring harness. is this a pretty straight forward install?
Chris don't you mean 1070 cc big bore wisco made a 1040cc,1070cc and super bike mike in fl made a 11 something but you had to change cylinders it was bad enough on the 1070 you had to re sleeve the cylinders. I have a 90 with the 1070cc port polished head did have stock carbs with the stage 2 jet kit but a guy had a set of 38mm kean flat slides so I trade carbs, he wanted something he didn't have to screw around with as carbs go and I wanted true race carbs. My bikes been down for a few years, bad crank baring but she live again one day, sucks being broke lol
i got a 90 fzr 1080 big bore stage 2 intake .30 over carbs n a stage 3 jet, and ill tell ya now, i've raced alot of bikes and my fzr will out accelerate just about anything.
Same engine and frame with a few differences/mods and different styling/plastics. This was 1989, first year of the EXUP. 1987 was the first FZR1000 Genesis
One of my friends is an electrical engineer. I told him that the controls unit apparently limited to 11500 rpm. he changed 2 capacitors and 1 resistance in the unit and now the fzr is limites free! the fzr goes eazy 3 gear 13000+ rpm!!! 3 gear is normal @ 210-220 km/h max 11500rpm limited, now its 240-245km/h+@ 13000rpm! 4 gear ist now 280-290km/h@13000rpm!! even i the 5 gear the rpm increases to 12200-12500+ @full throttle and the original speedmeter shows 1cm more then 300Km/h!!! so i hock up my navi, top speed ist 292km/h gps @ 12500+ rpm!!!! normal via gps is 273km/h @ 11300-11500rpm
Just shows that in the real world bikes may have got faster but the extra performance isnt realy worth bothering with on todays roads (UK at least) as its not usable anyway! you could argue that a modern 600 ( or something with around 100 bhp) is about all you need. I had a 89 exup in r,w,b and it was just about the same up to 100mph as any other inline 4 1000,600,750 etc of the same age or newer.
had a 1994 bought new then had for 10 years. ran a busu on highway up to a tad over 150mph when he let off, he was at my back wheel the whole time. unless you go over the 170mph top speed the fzr 1000 would run even with one plus was much lighter, more fun to ride. very comf y bike :)
They cannot do 181 mph stock. It's a physical impossibility. Brand new with 145 hp at the crank, they did 168 mph. Now, from 168 to 181, it's a 7,7% optimistic error. Some bike have a speedometer that reads as much as plus 10%.
I love the fzr I hit a deer on mine 2 Saturdays ago so I'm was looking for another. and this guy on Craigslist was trying to tell me his yard art of a bike was a 90 fzr1000 has 200 hp and 3000 in race modes this dude is a scammer

That sound brings back memories. I had a 93 fzr1000 as my first street bike and I still miss that thing.
Yep great bike in it’s day, still own this 89 exup currently rebuilding after being sat for 15 years
After rebuild is complete can you upload a ride test ?

Great Yamaha and just think its 10 years older and 300cc less than the Suzuki. Great video.
the old FZR held on a lot longer than I thought it would. Not bad considering it's age and 300 less cc engine capacity.
I love my 89 FZR1000. Parts are hard to find for the old girl, but it's worth the trouble
Omg rear tires are a pain to find
I've got an 87, 700 but I have 3 sets of plastics and pretty much spares to build another bike. If you need anything hit me up
jason rolfe I appreciate the help. I thought the same and have enough extras to build a second bike if i geta set of wheels, a frame, a harness, and TCI box, its the rubber of all things. the BT 016s are getting hard to find.
I need a set of side plastics for the 600. Any leads? Everyone wants a damn fortune for them, like more than I paid for the bike itself.
I am cosidering buying the fzr1000. the guy says he dropped a new engine in it and it needs a new wiring harness. is this a pretty straight forward install?
The FZR is still a very fast bike todat ! 175 mph top speed stock !
Nice vid! Not really opened my Exup up yet, but supprised that it even got a look'in on the Busa!
The Yamm only starts losing out above 160, impressive stuff.

What happen at the end of the video??.... A deer crossing the road?
i got a 90 fzr 1080 big bore stage 2 intake .30 over carbs n a stage 3 jet, and ill tell ya now, i've raced alot of bikes and my fzr will out accelerate just about anything.
Bet it really wont
My 27 year old fzr 1000 wants to kill me, holy s*** what a machine
i love my fzr i just bought thank you for this video i got a staving good deal for a rare
Got a 90 fzr1000 and for an old bike it still does fine until 150-60ish against much newer 1ltr's..
The fzr1000 is my dream bike
I just bought one myself, holy crap it's got some torque.
how does this compare to Thunderace?
Same engine and frame with a few differences/mods and different styling/plastics. This was 1989, first year of the EXUP. 1987 was the first FZR1000 Genesis
I wouldn't get rid of my FZR.
looks like the busa overtakes the fzr first @ over 160mph^^ so the topspeed of the fzr is around 160-165mph!! for a 25 year old bike really nice XD
Actually top speed on this particular ExUp as clocked by the bussa later that session was just over 175mph !!
XD exup is a nice and quick bike and the exup system is amazing! even 25 years later the fzr can perform like a sports bike from 2015+
One of my friends is an electrical engineer. I told him that the controls unit apparently limited to 11500 rpm.

bravo1412 I am cosidering buying an fzr1000. The bike needs a wiring harness. Do you know if this install is pretty straight forward?
Watch the valve springs.

My D7 Bantam has removable leg shields 🚴♂️🌬🌬🌬
@@silktvPDR1 They must be worth at least a couple of mph with a following wind 😬.
Not bad for a 20 year old bike. I would like to see a real drag race with these two.
had a 1994 bought new then had for 10 years. ran a busu on highway up to a tad over 150mph when he let off, he was at my back wheel the whole time. unless you go over the 170mph top speed the fzr 1000 would run even with one plus was much lighter, more fun to ride. very comf
y bike :)
don't count out those old fzr 1000's they have 145 hp and will do 181 mph ! stock
yes, whitout rev limiter even 5mils more XD
They cannot do 181 mph stock. It's a physical impossibility. Brand new with 145 hp at the crank, they did 168 mph. Now, from 168 to 181, it's a 7,7% optimistic error. Some bike have a speedometer that reads as much as plus 10%.

REMEMBER WHEN EXUP WAS A GOOD THING?
Not all models were restricted
Busa have in the corners of the black forrest no chance. Its a bike for the longrun
Nice.
Nice "Suzuki" key chain... lol
YAMAHAAAAAA.......... LOVE
WoW Nice Yamaha ;)
Very clear the Exup escapes till its speed limit 275km/h (5th gear)then the bussa overpasses 16 km more (6th gear) so bussa´ld be a draw with ZX 11
Except a 1300cc Hyabusa.
Ελα ρε με το χρεπι το fzr 1000 θελει να παει με hayabusa
haha pmsfl fuck the speed watch ya fuel gage haha !!!
