  • I thought it might be interesting to compare some of the common amp models between the Nux MG-300 and the Valeton GP-100 but in this video I use the same impulse response on like amp models.

    Interesting that on the original video the valeton sounded a bit bright and brittle but in this one with same ir usage the differences were often less noticeable and sometimes the valeton was much darker... I bought a valeton because of the stomp box features and bass presets. Enjoying it!

    Hey bro, nice video, i decided over valeton because of the stomp mode and more connection options, where can i find that ir's that you used in the video? Thanks a lot bro

    I like to see the video demo here because the sound that is produced is really original from the pedal, plus anything👍👍👍👍👍

    I'm wondering if the GP200 sounds better (using IR's) for the both!?

    In this video I liked Nux on clean and low gain better. Valeton was a bit too muddy. Maybe some knob tweaking like lowering bass and adding more treble would fix that. Dunno
    However higher gain amps sounded better on Valeton to me. And since I'm going to play mostly metal I lean more towards Valeton. Didn't decide it yet though

  • @chrisfit

    Can you redo without ANY reverb? I think the difference is in the reverb of the GP-100 sounding like butt.

  • @chrisfit

    Sound quality of the GP wasn’t as good to my ears. Like it had a warble almost. The tones were fine, and if I didn’t hear them side by side I wouldn’t notice anything. But as a comparison, I’d probably go with the NUX.

  • @NoiZeTribe4Life
    @NoiZeTribe4Life 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Tuff 2 say. The different presets sound quality really depends on which you might be using. Some of the lighter tones sounded better on the Valeton while some of the distortion/OD ones were better on the NUX. While they all are kool as smaller modelers, given My needs & skill lvl Id prolly go w/ either the Valeton or a Mooer. But the NUX software is superior to all of them UI-wise.

    @Case_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It's interesting how using the same IR removes most of the tonality differences. There are obviously still differences and the NUX sounds more "organic", for the lack of the better word, but I think that in a way, I kinda prefer the sound of the Valeton, as that's the kind of sound I like better when playing along with MP3's for example. And there's of course the noticeably better build quality of the Valeton and the stomp mode to consider. If only there was some kind of NUX 350 with at least some metal parts (the switches would be a good part) and a stomp mode...

      If just used for guitar I tend to lean toward the Nux MG-300. It quality is a little better and I like it’s feature or ability to re-amp.

  • @samsantana

    My 2c worth. I've had both of these... the NUX is closer to the real amps (I have an AC30TB and the NUX absolutely nails it!). I kept the Valeton though... I need it for small gigs when I need to travel extra light and the NUX has three huge disadvantages for my use.. 1. The build quality is not something I would take out and play with, it's strictly bedroom/studio only, the Valeton can take a beating. 2. The NUX won't allow for effects chain order changes whereas the Valeton lets me move pedals anywhere I want. 3. The Valeton lets me use Stomp mode so I can use the foot switches to control individual or groups of pedals within each patch and then easily swap over to change patches without having to use my hands. As a 'live' pedal the Valeton is superior and the amp simulation quality isn't so great that anyone would be able to tell when playing in the mix with other instruments.

      I totally agree.. the valeton gp-100 is just sooo small and has it all! lol.. And honestly, these days in the mix people can't tell any difference anyway only us gear heads. I have all sorta tube gear marshalls, mesa etc etc.. But I have been just using that little valeton hehe it's just soo convienant! I giggle every time I use the thing it's just killer bang for the buck and that lil footprint. it's a no brainer buy one! I may even get another one to keep by my bed lol ok not really.. eh

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, It is possible. Not sure which patch or sound sample you are referring too but depending on the amp model used, how much gain is selected and if a noise gate is being used, it can have some noise but nothing that was excessive or seemed out of place.

  • @ErebosGR
    @ErebosGR ปีที่แล้ว

    The Reverb blocks behave very differently between the two brands, and that makes any tonal comparisons very deceptive.
    The 50% mix on the Valeton is much more accurate, while the 50% mix on the NuX is closer to what 20% actually sounds like.
    Still, I think the amp modelling on the Valeton sounds more recent than the one on the NuX which sounds like what modellers were doing 10 years ago.

    Is the RP360XP better than these?

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure I can say that the RP360XP is better than these. While the RP360XP is still a good pedal, usually older multi-effect pedals suffer from not being able to load impulse responses, which can really make a difference in the overall sound. It is possible to disable the internal cabs and run the pedal into a cab pedal (two if you want to do stereo).

      @RafaelSanchezR 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tone-Quest are impulse responses really important?

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RafaelSanchezR I would say yes, as it can make a tremendous impact on the overall sound. So having the ability to load different IR's always you to sculpt your sound without having to be stuck with one stock sound that the pedal comes with.

    Almost the same sound. The coloring is exactly the same. For example, the difference between Boss, Digitech and Nux is huge, but between Nux and Valeton is insignificant. You only need to look at the quality and convenience of the devices, not at the sound.
