Words honestly cannot describe how good this makes me feel. I’m 55, 4 great kids, happy as a pig in mud. Clash taught me strength, independence and happiness.
I can relate, I'm only listening to The Clash from like 6-7 years..on and off...recently got into them Again... I love the spirit in their songs and the brutal honesty in the lyrics. I'm 28. Hagd.
Its awesome seeing ol Mick so happy, playing his old songs. Just shines in every song he plays in the Rock & Roll library. Go easy, step lightly, and stay free Mick. You and The Clash have left a huge and amazing mark on this world.
Well, White Man In Hammersmith Palais and Complete Control are my faves, but Stay Free is right up there. Give Em Enough Rope was definitely The Clash's most underrated album. Great to see and hear this clip from 2009, hope Mick is doing fine these days too!
to a 16 year old in suburban Portland OR... this was a look into adulthood, reflection, and friendship that I could not get from any other band. Still- 30 years later... the "only band that matters" and my favorite ever!
Mick jones the legend!! Awesome guitar player, awesome voice and all around nice guy... Being a teenager in the late 70's and early 80's in NY and hearing and seeing the clash at bonds and shea stadium are lifelong memories.... Thank you and rip - joe strummer
On my best songs all time list (not favorite song, which it is, but BEST song list). I picked up Jones and BAD II as customers in my taxi once after a Bestie Boys show. Didn't recognize them. Jones sat in the back and got out to pay me. He was a shy dude! I asked him about reuniting the Clash and he grinned and shrugged...
This made so happy. When I was a kid the Clash gave me a blueprint for life which has never let me down. Some years back I used to print t shirts for BAD and sold them at gigs, what a great memory.
Like how mick has kept true to himself , nowadays big stars would have the teeth/face/ass , sorted he seems a very contempt man and very at ease with himself , which in my eyes is a breath of fresh air.
Ashlyn Nicole it's natural. Even without lyrics, the chord progression evokes emotion. Add to it the story combined with Joe Strummers' passing & there's a lot to be emotional over, good & bad. Oh! Something I just got, he's also very emotional too, smiling from ear to ear w/possibly a few tears of joy.
No! I'm sorry but you can not say that. Ok it is true that Mick is a centerpiece of the Clash. His talent, his influence, his originality and his contribution make him an indispensable pillar of the group. But as for the other three (Joe, Paul and whatever we say Topper is the fourth) none is separable from the group. If one is missing it is no longer The Clash.
The Clash, Joe and Mick. 2 Legends... imagine who had the privilege that watching the band on 70's and 80's, on a Clash tour. Its so special. Thanks to post. RIP JOE !
What a dude. Hope that's not a Burton's suit Mick! Just a bit too young to see The Clash live. Saw Joe live solo, and Mick in B.A.D. on the same weekend at a festival. Nearest I got. Was praying they would play together!
Whenever I hear this tune I always think of the scene in Rude Boy when Ray Gange doubts whether people will really 'get' the song-the references to Streatham etc and Mick just puts him straight andf says 'they'll get it...'
This IS great. Lot of comments here about the Clash. While I love the Clash now, at the time I didn't understand English Punk. The Pistols were outrageous and silly and I sort of turned my back. The Ramones were about being a loser and having fun any way and they never changed. The Ramones sound never evolved. The Clash couldn't make it thruogh one album without becoming better and more interesting. Their short recording history is packed with music styles, and the gamut of emotions. I was in a bar years later and a tune came on I recognized it. I started dancing wildly by myself thinking "this is a great tune, one of my favorites". Wasn't till I stopped dancing and sweaty and thirsty I realized I had never heard that song before. It was BAD Rush. Before long I had all BAD and started looking back to the records that my freinds had loved but I never paid much interest and 15 years after hearing white riot for the first time, I discovered the Clash. I had learned a bit since then. The frustration, the anarchy roiling just beneath, all made sense and Mick could put it to music fun catchy, noisy loud, subliminal. My point, the Clash IS great but this is about Mick. Wonderful, beautiful, Mick who we are so lucky and thankful is still with us. Joe is gone. There is no Clash. But we still have Mick. 1234...
Wyatt Scott the clash should Reform with mick jones on lead vocals The mans still got it for sure, It would be a great tribute To joe Strummer, I would do anything to see the clash live even if it was without joe, The stranglers, The doors, Queen, status quo and Slade all carried on without there original lead singer so Why not the clash?

The Clash were not a independence band. They became rich and more rich......
@@leocatrileo68 They were rich from the start. With stuff one cannot buy.
@@leocatrileo68 yeah, but they became rich honestly.

amen to that
"Mick's just a dope fiend."
what a beautiful person, he smiles from ear to ear!
The song for every teenager who had a good friend take the wrong path. God bless you, Mick !
what this guy and the clash meant to me growing up is hard to put into words.
Exactly bro. Im 60 today and we lived in town inSweden who just loved them.
The only band that matters. No truer words have been said in the history of music.
A love for life
Great to see 👍
❤My funeral song❤ I’m 55 & been listening to the Clash since I was 13 & smokin’ menthol ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He's beaming! Nice to see Mick playing this one. He's certainly aging gracefully!
Best Clash song of all time

That smile, lovely Mick.
Joe was the heart but Mick was the soul of The Clash...
Mick you're are an great old smiley child... stay free.
Go easy , step lightly , stay free , thanks mick Jones
Mick Jones is one of the loveliest human being that you can come cross, what a Gentelman! that's what you call a Star

I was luck enough to hear this live in 1978 or 1979 when they did the give em enough rope tour, awesome .
This man. Beyond love for this man
The good music is timeless, Thanks Mick and The Clash.
What a man. Got to love Mick.
That man is truly happy and he deserves to be! He makes me happy looking at his happiness. You see? Joy spreads around

Amazing. The older man playing the younger man's song, still great.
Loved Mick Jones since 77 ! When I was 12 ! dx

he was so happy playing his old songs :')

I had the good fortune of meeting The Clash in Nebraska in 1984.
Smashin' blokes, the lot!
Ok, but by then it wasn't really the Clash anymore...just the Joe Strummer Band.
Words cannot describe how much respect I have for Mick Jones. By pretty much all accounts, he was hard to work with, but my goodness, what a musician
geniuses are usually hard to work with
I think that was just when the booze and drugs got out of control

Mick Jones.......the only singer that ever mattered.
You're being... er... metaphorical, yes?

goosebumps, and not one single punk's eye dry after watching this!!!!
I'm fifteen and i love Mick Jones, oh and R.I.P. Joe Strummer, still blasting his songs in 2021
A Punk Rock, Post Punk & Fusion music genius. Protect this man like fine wine or stash of gold bars.
This was a real classic and now is a song out there for all freedom.
It still sounds wrong sometimes but magically Mick manages to make it good. It's one of his qualities that defines him in his own style!
Thank you, Mick Jones.
This video filled my heart with joy :))

What a smile, love you Mick. Stayfree
Well Ray not the sharpest nail in the toolbox. Best friends and lost adolescence is a universal thing. Brilliantly portrayed by Mick.
I love this Song, i love mick jones, i love the clash. The only band that mattered

La felicidad del tipo cantando!!! Lo amo!
Like everyone here, this is the most extraordinarily talented bloke ever! I treasure both the Clash and BAD equally with ALL my heart.
