I am in my second pottery class and I watch your videos between classes. They have helped me tremendously. You explain everything so well and with so much experience and knowledge about how clay works. I just wanted to say thank you so much for making these videos. You are a wonderful teacher.
Vaughn, I made two garlic keepers today and thanks to your instruction they turned out perfectly. I even managed to make lids that fit ! Can’t wait to make a few more tomorrow as the ones I made today are gifts for my sisters.
How pleasant watching this is. Great lessons for beginners on up. The bowls and garlic keepers are beautiful. Love that ergonomic handle on the bowls too! All the best! Thanks! jw
Hi Freddie, I just found your business card while tidying the studio. We have a storm tomorrow night with high winds, too bad I just put garden pots outside the studio. It is getting nice again, warm enough to bike ride. I hope the warm weather is not too awful for you.😅
After a busy Easter weekend, I finally got to watch your latest video this Monday morning. You could have knocked me down with a feather when you said my name and used the bubble level. I'm glad you are finding them useful. You have taught me so much and they are a little thank you for my teacher! As always a GREAT VIDEO with lots of details and beautiful pottery!! Thank you! 👏👏👏👏
Yes! I watch you in addition to Simon Leach who I have been watching for years. I learn so much and it helps my pottery skills. My handle pulling and attachment, for example are probably my best skill I've learned from both of you.
I'm really enjoying your videos!!! You have so many great ideas and I learn something in every video!!!👏👏👏👏I love saving them so I can go back to them again and again. 😁👍Thank you for such great videos 👏👏👏👏‼💖🌻🌸
I just got overall and I got a number bigger and I wearing it on top my clothes and in the end of the day I just take it out and my clothes are clean. 🤗
Umm ... really interesting. I like the different things you used to decorate your pieces. What do you call those things you used to keep the garlic bowl in place while you decorated and drilled holes in it?
Not sure how you're editing your videos but if you have anything that allows you to apply an EQ it might be nice to cut off some odd the high frequencies because the sound of the wheel is a little high and overwhelming 😊
I stopped using that wheel because a few people mentioned it. It is a nice wheel but 35 years old and makes a squeaky noise. The early videos sometimes have that wheel in use, none of the new ones do.
@@Vsmithpots Ah okay! Squeak squeak. Was still amazing watching how fluidly you work with the clay, I'm just learning at the moment and can only hope with practise to get that fluid shaping happening!
Apologies Vaughn, it's nearly impossible for me to watch your videos now, when you're throwing due to the motor chirp. Love watching but cannot have sound.
Glad to see that your wife has made it into your videos!
Hopefully she will do more soon.

I LOVE THAT BOOK! The apron looks great as well.
The apron is from New York Sky. The book is full of good stuff. Thanks for watching.

Lovely and informative video. I wish you could show us some glazing techniques. Thank you! Regards from Malta 🇲🇹
My computer just broke so I am in tech hell at the moment. I will do a glazing video again soon. Thanks.
I am going to try your centering technique. Loved your new apron.
Thanks, it covers all of me.

Beautiful! Do you glaze the inside of your garlic jars?
Yes, is there a reason not to?
@@Vsmithpots no, I was just curious if a garlic keeper worked better with an unglazed interior or not.
Very helpful. They turned out great. If ok to ask, were they gas or electric fired, and what are your green and yellow glazes?
Electric fired, if you email me I will send photos from my glaze book. (vsmithpots@eastlink.ca)
Luv your videos, For hand building in Canada what clay would you recommend , I am using a plainsman clay m340
We use Laguna #80 but it is a dark iron red clay.

I think you mean the Giffin Grip.
Where did you get your new apron with the leg covers?
Amazon.

I will swap the wheels over and do the videos on a Shimpo Lite, I love my 35 year old Brents but they both have a chirrup sounds.
@Vaughan Smith please don't change your routine for one person. I love watching, regardless. Your chickens are inspiring!
@@jolynnclancey4892 It is no big deal, I ought to be using the other wheels, they need a workout, or they develop a kink in the drive belt.
