Your extraordinary ability to communicate allowed us following from home to share your daily ups and downs. Hopefully, you’ll consider writing a book about your journey. Thank you for inviting us to your small and big worlds.
Thank you for taking the time to show us around Medallia and sharing your thoughts and emotions about the race. The huge emotion you feel for your adventure leapt to the surface the moment you picked up the plastic top from one of the red flares. You have been one of the real stars of this edition of the VendeeGlobe Pip and it has been a joy to follow you. Roll on ‘The Book’ and 2024 (with a cockpit canopy!) 👏💐👏💐👏💐
Absolute wonderful journey you have taken us on for 3 months of our lives. You are such a great communicator. Will be wonderful to watch your journey again in 2024.
Pip, I wonder if you realize the extent to which you brought joy into the hearts of the people who followed you throughout the last months. Your courage and solid determination and just plain goodness shone through every video you posted. It was a rough winter for many of us (Covid-19, the American elections, etc.) but almost every day there was something from you to look forward to, from out there in the middle of the ocean. So, thank you. Go Pip go!
We weren't surprised at the support and comments as you made your way round the world. We all saw what you were achieving against great odds. Your Vendee campaign has inspired so many people is so many ways, not just sailors. Thank you Pip.
Thank you so very much for the privilege of sharing your journey in some small way, Pip. Can’t wait to do so again on the next great adventure! You are an inspiration. Sea Wolf!
Yes, we lived the race with you...up in the middle of the night to check to see if you were ok...where you were....what weather you were having and there for you in the scary bits, egging you on and wishing you well. As for the rudder change; a million hearts went up and down and held their breath! Thank you for giving us the debriefing tour of Medallia and all those wonderful personal notes and memories of your voyage - what a triumph and we are so proud of what you and Medallia and your team have accomplished!! (And yes, when is the book coming out...) All the best. Thank you Pip.
Pip I was so pleased to follow you on your journey, you gave me a focus outside of my own lockdown world, thank you. Seeing you back on Medallia today is a bonus. I know little about sailing and only really started to follow you as you are the same age and have the same name as my daughter, and I am SO glad I did. I shared tears of joy watching you live crossing the finishing line and holding the flares. You have my complete admiration for your communicative pieces to camera, seamanship and in all aspects putting it together with unrelenting determination. You stayed the distance often against great odds, (hope your blisters have fully healed) and I am looking forward to following your next Vendee Globe in 2024, and with hopefully a few more mod cons, a bed and a roof!
You are an amazing lady Pip. The Vendee Globe would not have been the same without you. I chose to follow two boats - Hugo Boss and Medallia. What a ride it has been. Thank you.
Hi Pip, so glad to see you on my screen again. I am so happy to have follow your journey, you have singlehandedly taken me around the world! I am not a sailor myself, but I do have a sailors heart just as you. I am so pleased to see you in the finish, happy and making new plans. May the future be bright! Fair winds Pip!
Thank you for including us on your journey. Still love one of your first vids where you looked back and laughed saying (surprisingly) look there's people behind me. That was when I realized you were the one to live the adventure with. Sail forth my friend!
We thank you for all your videos and updates. It allowed all of us to share in the difficulties and success’s of your round the world voyage. It is beyond my comprehension in doing this. I really enjoyed your comment on that you had to do the rudder change. There was no other option. Marvelous job Pip. John. USA
Dear Ms. Hare, all participants went through the same thing as the Apollo 13 crew; but you were all on your own. You personally also have a gift to communicate these difficulties humanly! A wonderful trait! Your race made me realize how small our world is; and how vulnerable our seas are. The organizers of this race should increasingly carry this message into the world. Good luck!
Pip, it was both a pleasure and a privilege to be able to follow you on what was both a competitive and very much a personal journey. I came away with lessons not only about the demands of sailing, but also on perseverance and humility. While you were out on the water, I was competing online, with the Virtual Regatta app. In doing so, I took a lot of inspiration from you, especially on how best to deal with setbacks. All in all, I appreciated your integrity and sportsmanship. I am so proud for you, for what you accomplished. Pip, you fine sailor and even finer human being. Wishing you continuing success in all your endeavors take care and keep well.
Pip, you know, sometimes I would hesitate to do my assigments for uni and then I would idle and watch your videos and afterwards I always felt like: she is out there beeing so brave and disciplined and that was always a huge motivation to actually have discipline myself and get on with whatever I needed to do at the time. So thank you Pip.
I wish TH-cam would let me give you ten thumbs up... or twenty... or... Thanks for sharing. I've had a bit of (amateur) open ocean experience, so riding along with you was somewhat like being out there again. In the busiest and most stressful times you somehow found time to think of us and share the things that were going on. Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you Pip. Well done on a brilliant race. I’ve followed your highs and lows for many weeks now, and although I’m a really bad sailor I can at least enjoy it from a distance. Your wonderful attitude and optimism have left me smiling after every video. I hope you get the boat you want, and I shall continue to follow your progress.
Thank you Pip!! You are utterly inspirational to so many. We really loved hearing from you and reading your posts. It would be wonderful to hear more reflections as you recover from the race. Bravo!!!
PIP PIP PIP HOORAY!!! Thanks so much for telling and sharing it all Anytime you need; sweeping up and a cuppa !! What a sailor What a British woman sailor.SYLVIA .
The TLC you’ve given Medallia is so evident from your tour. Again, thanks for sharing your epic solo raceadventure with us. As a 66 year old solo sailor on the East coast of the US, you’ve inspired me to “sail away from safe harbor” more frequently and farther afield! PS: If you need delivery crew home or anytime I am always available 😎
Hi Pip Last August you were sitting in the cockpit of your boat with your team at Poole Quay. We were on our UK only summer cruise onboard our family cruiser on the opposite pontoon and Medallia looked great and ready to go. Watching you 6 months later in Sables d’Olonne showing us your boat, emotion clear, but now showing that calm composure and assurance and huge pride that comes with having conquered something extraordinary, is special. Well done Pip. It has been inspirational sharing your journey. You are fantastic. I hope to have the chance to bump into you some time soon. Stay safe. Michael
Thank you so much for letting us share your journey. By the Southern Ocean you were the only one I followed day by day because of your excellent communication skills and your True Grit. Congratulations.
You gave so much back to us Pip. We knew that somehow you could feel all the positive energy flows that were following you wave after wave! Thank you sailor and thank you Medallia for believing in Pip....
Thank you so much for taking us on your Vendee Globe! It was so exciting following you. You are such brilliant in showing and telling us your story. Take care of yourself.
Interesting to hear some of the many challenging moments that kept you occupied between the videos! As others have said, it was a privilege and thank you for sharing. Go Pip!
Thanks for the tour Pip and for sharing a few refections of your monumental race . I know well the surreal feeling of going back onboard after a long offshore . Especially on such a calm peaceful day after your arrival in such wind and rain on your harrowing last day . I love how you write notes on the boat . Best part of sailing solo , no one to tell you not to!
Pip, I watched / followed you all the way thru the Race. Three months ago Pip Hare , a journeyman professional sailor, started her Vendee Globe attempt to sail around the world, in an older boat that was less than ideal, I remember hoping that she would make it all the way around. Yesterday, Pip Hare- “Legend” returned successfully. Good on ya Pip.
I crapped my pants and was hooked after watching a RUDDER CHANGE IN THE SOUTHERN OCEAN!!! Say that to yourself a few times.......A 19th finish means nothing compared to what that means in our eyes! Pip....we are a sailing family moving up from a 22 ft boat to a 27 foot boat. We as novice sailors we are going to move it 25 nautical miles to its mooring for the summer. For us - this is our Vendee Globe. It the biggest thing we have ever done and we are SO inspired. We were with you for the southern ocean rudder change. BUT now you are with us in any challenges we face sailing or otherwise!!! You have captured something very beautiful that is more than just a race! Gosh darn it...is some one cutting onions again?!
You. Are. Amazing. Pip. Gosh, I can't believe what you went through. Congratulations!!! And thank yu again so very much for taking us along. If not for real. Luckily. Hahaha.
My eyes have been almost wet while watching this video, Pip. You're a true grit person. How damn hard it had been but you've done it with this old and really outdated imoca boat! Thanks for being with you during this Vendee. And btw, Medallia is the most beautiful in the fleet with union jack!
Thank you Pip- fascinating tour, cant believe you didn’t have a bed!! What you have achieved is remarkable, and your ability to share it with us is a true gift......thank you thank you and can’t want to see you fly around the course with a roof in 2024!!
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing your journey along the way and this extra little video further adds to our understanding of your experience. again Huge congratulations on a incredible achievement of not only completing the race, but finishing where you did and how you were able to take us along with you. Amazing !
What an inspiring story, you’re an inspiration. As with many, we felt a part of your effort with our best wishes urging you on. Your frequent updates were such a respite from lockdown.
Well done Pip. That was a great tour, it's joined together a lot of the different views we've seen of the boat over the last few months. Great to see you and the boat in a relaxed mood, with refective explanations. Great idea for the post-race tour; keep us included on the repairs and preps for the next voyage. Best of luck.
Thanks again Pip for a great Vendee. Like Boris's yours has been another enthralling story. Will be following you again in the next. Best of luck in finding your next boat, one that will be reliable, manageable and yet fast.
Un grand bravo to you Madame Pip Hare!! You were the one that had me follow the Vendée Globe for the first time. Thanks a million for sharing your many achievements!
I thank you for your great race and the communicated feeling and thoughts. I will go round after my retirement but not in such hurry. Nevertheless your run was very inspirering. Carry on. Frank
That rudder change ...wow..I really thought ..mmm . Pip, you look in great shape !! Must have lost weight during the race ? ( did not see you before the race ). We had an awesome time following the race and what stood out was the rescue and then your true emotions. And start smile !! Love to you and your parents .. they must be so proud of you .. Regards from South Africa ..Summer weather and we are doing a lot of mountain biking in the George West Cape.
Now it has happened, after fascination for your passion for the sea, respect and admiration for your sailing skills, approval for your mindfulness, joy at your laughter in storms in the southern ocean, it is now quite simply love for a wonderful sailing woman. Thank you very much, I hope to see you one day.
Thank you very much Pip Hare for all details and interesting Video. Unbelevebale that you managed to sail the Vendée Globe. Not many have the skills like you. Wish you very good recovery and i,m sure to see you in the next Vendée Globe or other races. Congrats and greetings from the Alp Region Switzerland.
Hi Pip, It has been a pleasure and an inspiration to follow you. I am already lined up to follow you on VG 2024! Bring on the new boat for Pip, please!
Pip, I know you are a star because I watched you during your Vendee Globe. However, in this video you showed me just how much I didn't know about your physical struggle; I am still trying to grasp the lack of a cockpit shelter in the Southern Ocean. It is said: "Big things come in small packages". Oh, time to reflect on your physical stamina!
Great tour of Medallia and useful tips too. I was remembering your last leg between the Azores and France; the climatic and ocean state was erratic and messy. I know as I was in the sailaway simulator on a ketch not far from your position, sailing to the UK on a similar track. It was crazy weather for sure. I'd sail with you anywhere, top job, (not wishing my life away but) looking forward to see you do the next Vendee. Fair winds.
Thanks Pip that was great to have that walk about with you! Would be great to see the crack in the rudder stock??? And to see the problems with the keel lines ? Still find it an amazing achievement and please give us the heads up for your return plans?👍👍😀😀
How good was that to have an afterwards tour? I haven’t seen the others do that. Very interesting. And you look pretty trim, Pip! You must have lost a bit of weight in the 3 months? Have a great sail home. (Norfolk Broads is our home - stop by one day!)
You mean we sent all these messages of support and you didn't read them.... Humph. I'm hurt. 🤣🤣🤣 Great to see you doing this video. Business calls it lessons learnt. But really good to see so much worked well. Safe journey home. K
the (fairly) dry cockpits have new-ish imocas seem like the biggest quality of life improvements (if you can speak of quality of life...). Also, polly is absolutely amazing so endearing, yet genius!
Dear Pip, what an accomplishment !!! Your cockpit looks pretty basic, wow. This reminds me of old boats I have been on. Your boat really required plenty of truly manual work. How did you make sure the skin of your hands does not come off ? I hope for you that you will be back in 2024, yes, with a more modern, i.e. safer to operate boat. Hubert, Germany
It was entirely our privildge to be with you on your journey. Thank you Pip.
Could not have put it better.
Wishing you lots more happy sailing.

It was absolutely great to hear you and to follow your story
Awesome tour. Where can we send donations to get you into a new boat in 4 years? You are a very brave person Pip.
sailing world loves you! best wishes
It was wonderful to follow your journey. Can't wait for the next one.
Fair winds.
Loved the tour of medallia,thankyou.xx
We follow your race from Canada .Great job congrat. We hope to se you on the next Vendée Globe.
Thanks for everything over the last, long, weeks Pip. As an ex. Mini skipper, I am so very envious of you.

Enjoy the trip home. Hope you get to have fun.
Thank you for all you have shared with us. Will miss your daily videos!
How good was that to have an afterwards tour? I haven’t seen the others do that. Very interesting. And you look pretty trim, Pip! You must have lost a bit of weight in the 3 months? Have a great sail home. (Norfolk Broads is our home - stop by one day!)

How did you make sure the skin of your hands does not come off ? I hope for you that you will be back in 2024, yes, with a more modern, i.e. safer to operate boat. Hubert, Germany
