You're gonna love that thing for rapid heating the shop Brock. I'm on my second one, first one lasted some 20 years and current model is about 10 y/o. Only thing I've ever found that will heat my shop to bearable degree and I'm 30x50x20' at the ridge, metal roof, metal walls, concrete floor, no insulation and a cross wind that'll take your hat off at times. So thankful I'm only out there a few hours each week. Just don't point it at anything flammable.

I love my Kerosene salamander! Worked great to heat my little barn. I use it outside often to heat up the tractor before starting when it's super cold. Just aim it under the front and it warms up the oil pan, transmission, and can safely thaw gelled or frozen fuel.
I also use kerosene in my mobile home when it gets bitter cold. We just crack open the tops of the windows an inch or so to ventilate. One heater under a ceiling fan heats the whole house, and venting at the windows prevents any smell.

Absolutely! My shop is 30x50, and i heat with a wood stove. But I work, and when I get home (today 17°) my shop was 39° inside!!. I have a 215 BTU Master Pro from tractor supply , fired it up on diesel, started building a fire in the stove, and in 20 mins, my diesel heater had it 60° in my shop! And the fire stove will hold it there. I feel it's the best (for me)! Until I get a mini spit that I can turn on with my phone when I leave work!! Oh yeah, then a/c in the summer!! 😆

We used to use those in that outdoor industrial setting like you mentioned. Reminds me of a jet taking off!

Brock........I completely agree. i only heat my 20'x30' uninsulated shed up when I'm it doing something and I have a similar kerosene heater like this. It works fine although noisy, but certainly does the job and is inexpensive. Thanks, Bob

Good morning Brock. I've had one of these for years. Mine is a 55,000 btu unit. It's very noisy and you should keep a door cracked a couple of inches because of the fumes but they really never bothered me that much. I have the electric heater now which is much quieter and keeps my garage really comfortable but it takes a while to warm it up with that so on really cold days I'll fire up the (we call them "Torpedo" heaters here) and it will warm things up in a few minutes. But the older I get the peace and quiet of the electric heater is really nice. And I don't have to shut the heater off to talk on the phone or watch "Rockhill Farms" videos. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

Yes lots of heat. Just watch out for the headaches and malaise that sinks in working in that environment. I will personally never use one again, got rid of them all. Best to you and thanks for all the great content! Love all the perspectives you offer and love the channel!

We have a diesel version at work, that thing is more trouble than its worth most of the time, its ridiculously expensive, and during a 10 hour day at work we go through 10-12 gallons of diesel every day running it all day long.

Brock you need to check out a Sunfire heater. I worked all last winter on my new building last winter 30’ x56’ two story in a uninsalated . I did all my wiring and insulation comfortably, burning diesel fuel with no fumes and you can run it on a thermostat

I use to use a kerosene space heater years ago in a 12000 btu unit.. I kept a 55 gallon drum of kerosene from our local fuel oil distributor on hand.

I put mine on a smart plug switch so I can remotely turn it on to warm the shop from the house then turn it off while I'm in the shop doing work.

Howdy Brock! Wow... that is some serious heat! And boy... I need to move near you - our kerosene at the pump is $5.50... and just recently it was $6. A dual fuel heater like that would be handy. My ideal setup would be a small heater like this to heat the shop up first thing, then maintain it with a wood stove. But my shop is a little smaller than yours, and I don't need to keep fish warm lol I recently found a mini-split that operates on both solar and electric... solar when the sun is out, electric when it isn't. Dunno about heating in the winter but cooling in the summer I might like to try that. Well done and thanks for sharing 🤠

Also here where I live, I chose Diesel. My off-road diesel here is $2.95 per gallon. The kerosene is $5.99 per gallon. I know the diesel doesn’t burn as clean but it gets the job done for half the price

My FIL used to heat his trailer with a Kerosun (sp?). The interior always had a real strong kerosene odor. Is that not a problem with the salamander style heater?

I have a kerosene heater (one of those round ones you see everywhere at the big box stores) for backup. It has an adjustable wick. When it is set properly there is no smell at all. But we use it very sporadically... so maybe that helps with the odor. 🤠

For safety, everyone needs to use a blue can for kerosene, a yellow can for diesel, and the red ones for gas. You may know what you have in the jug, but someone else may not when they grab one to fuel something.

Brock, you need to try a diesel heater. The cost is around $100 and from what I've seen, they run very efficiently and put out clean heat without fumes..
"Project farm" tested a bunch on his channel.

Yes buying the k1 fuel in a sealed container is staggeringly expensive.
I have one location, that sells bolth clear and red versions of k1 fuel in bulk.
    The red is $3 somthing
The clear is as you said, around $4.50
I highly recommend a detector for the air, I nearly lost my life over that. and have a permanent scar on my forehead to get the point across.
    .
I think it would work extremely well, heating the room up in the morning. as you get the wood stove going, Then continue thru the day with wood heat.
    .
I have a diesel powerd machine with a old Jimmy 2-53 engine, I use a propane blow heater on the engine to heat it enuf to start, as it has no starting ads at all.
And being 2 stroke it requires a sae 40 engine oil.
    .
I've also used it to super heat a room after painting, to speed up drying time. Amongst many other uses, just remember if it's being used in a home setting, you're probably not going to like the diesel smell, and K1 would be a better bet to not upset mama bear.

That's gonna get expensive to run real fast, Kerosene is ridiculously expensive. We use a similar heater at work that runs on diesel, we burn about 10-11 gallons of diesel a day in it when we are using it all day long. We run the thing full blast to expand tires, so its gulping fuel all day long.
Read the manual and get familiar with the internal parts because you'll inevitably have to open it up and clean some of the parts occasionally.

I have a pellet stove, a torpedo heater, and a mini-split. Mini-split is the cheapest, and torpedo is the fastest! If I had natural gas on my street, that would be my heat with the mini-split as compliment heat..

They work great, but in a closed building, it's not safe. Get a carbon detector because you won't know you died. If you get a headache or feel stomach sick, get out it's almost too late.
