  • Atlantis. The name echoes through the ages like a magic spell. Did it really exist? Where is it? Are there any remaining artifacts that can tell us what it was really like? Who were the Atlanteans? Is it all myth, or is it historical fact?

Actually from what I understand, "Atlantis" was based on the people who lived on the ancient island of Crete (Minoans), as well as a community at the base of Santorini, and was destroyed suddenly due to the after effects of Santorini's eruption.
It didn't sink, per se but it is theorized that when Santorini erupted, the nearby islands were bombarded with earthquakes and tsunamis that pretty much wiped out the communities living there.

@@SMiles.21 Doñana has been excavated since 1923 and the only thing found are some Roman fishing villages. Santorini fits the description better than anywhere else remembering Plato didn't exactly have verified facts in the first place. Pillars of Hercules and 9000 years equates to 'A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away'. It's story telling.

Herodotus already gave us the location of Atlantis. For those of you who don't know, Herodotus was an ancient greek historian and was known as the Father of History. If you look at his map, it shows you where Atlantis is. It's where the Richat Structure is. The Richat structure looks like Atlantis too, having a center circle, and two outer rings around it. It also matches the size of Atlantis. The king of that area of Mauretania was known as Atlas which happens to also be the name of the king of Atlantis as well. Evidence of fish bones (not fossils) has been found suggesting that area was submerged in water. So we have an ancient map. We have some formation that matches the description of Atlantis. We have a similar size. We have a king with a similar name that ruled the area. Yet, for some reason, Archeologists won't even give this location the time of day. Odd, especially since an ancient map was drawn by an ancient well known and credible greek historian.

    • @withnail-and-i
      @withnail-and-i 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Herodotus, credible? Not totally. Guy wrote of literal fairytales such as supernatural creatures on the hearsay of other people. History wasn't exactly a scientific discipline. Another example is Plutarch, who was motivated by mystic motives behind his writing. The problem is that if you're gonna use Plato's text to say that is the location, you can't dismiss half of the details that don't fit the description...

I've spent 40 years studying this . One issue is Plato wrote a story that was handed down . The first to record Atlantis was SOLON . The story was given to him by an Egyptian Priest . There is on a wall amongst the ancient civilization either buried or lost that actually depicts the City of Atlantis. Most likely he found writings by Solon in Egypt when he finished his studies in Egypt. Its not clear how long he was there but it was the final leg of his 10 year journey ( starting at 28 and ending at 38 ) that included studying in multiple cities in multiple countries across the region .
There fore when the first thing a documentary states is a half truth you have to wonder how complete the research in the documentary really is 🤔

It's more likely that they have found the lost city of Tartessos which was similar in design to Atlantis and was in this region at the mouth of the Guadalquivir river. Geologist have found massive tsunamis deposits far inland in southern Spain. The Richard structure has been ruled out as it just does not fit Plato's dimension or locality. The most probable site for Atlantis is in the Azores region as it totally fits Plato's exact description and scientific and geology studies have matched up to the region's ancient catastrophic history. Anyone who has read Plato would rule out the location above, just for a start Plato describes Atlantis as being surrounded by the most beautiful mountains in the region that were high and lofty that rose steeply out of the sea. Next to the island of Madeira are three sunken seamounts that were once islands 11'600 years ago the time of Atlantis, over time the tips of these islands have eroded away but once rose out of the Atlantic Ocean like the 3 pronged spear of Poseidon- the symbol of Atlantis.

A maritime empire with colonies in the Americas and Mediterranean Sea with Carthage and Minos being wealthy colonies involved in maritime commerce. That points to a central originating state that would've been four times at least as wealthy and powerful as any of its colonies ever were.

The thing that disturbs me about this documentary and the others that I've seen so far is that they keep trying to make Plato's story fit Santorini or some other area instead of in the Atlantic Ocean where Plato said it was. I did a little research and the report I found that said there had been no subsidence in the area of the Azores was an old one (at least the one I saw was). I can't help but wonder if the area was reexamined using modern technology, what we would find. If you look at the Azores on Google Earth, you can clearly see what appears to be a submerged landmass with the Mid-Atlantic ridge running through the middle of it. Also, there have been pyramids found on Pico Island in the Azores. Some questions that keep nagging at me are:
    1. Is it really a coincidence that the area where Plato said Atlantis was coincides with where the North American Plate, Eurasian Plate, and the Azores Microplate, as well as the Azores-Gibraltar Fault, all meet?
    2. What if what happened to Atlantis wasn't a subsidence event?
    3. If those pyramids found in the Azores aren't what's left of Atlantis, what are they?

My yoga guru, who taught meditation, would sometimes comment on different topics, and one time he was on a field walk with some devotees and told that Atlantis did exist in the past, and so did Lemuria. Then he described the location of Atlantis, and used the same words that Plato used to describe the location. Much later on I had the chance to talk with a devotee who used to be my guru's personal assistant. He told me that Baba said that there are 3 different points where the land that used to be Atlantis is still above water. I asked him where those points are. He told me that one of those points is the Faroe Islands. I asked him where the other 2 points were and he was thinking about it when someone else walked into the kitchen and interrupted our conversation. I have a feeling he was going to name some islands out west from the Pillars of Hercules, but I never got the answer. One interesting thing though. Check to see what the latitude is for the Great Pyramid of Giza, then follow that latitude across the Atlantic ocean and see if you see any points of interest along that latitude. I have reason to believe it would be difficult to dig down there to find things now because the Gulf Stream has been flowing over there for 11,600 years.

@@mikeprandota3120 I was surprised he said the one point that is still above water is the Faroe islands. I'm still trying to get confirmation about the other two points that are still above water today. He had trouble immediately remembering the name of the other two places, so I don't think Antarctica was one of them. My feeling is that the other two places are islands in the middle of the Atlantic. This is not to say that these other ancient places were not important though. I think probably the ancient sites in Antarctica are much more interesting, because they were in a tropical climate, then crustal displacement (described by Charles Hapgood) happened and they got flash frozen. I think that happened at the beginning of the last ice age, at the time that most dinosaurs were going extinct.

@gataheart Indeed, "Guelb er Richât" in Mauritania (Eye o/t Sahara, Eye of Africa), was the 'hub' of Atlantis and stretched all the way across to the Bimini Road (submerged in the Caribbean) and Westward into the Pacific islands of Hawai'i, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, the Philippines and Japan. Over the past decade several archaeologists and researchers have brought forward compelling proof in this regard. Not merely the concentric circular aspect and the fact that the Atlantic ocean went all the way into the Sahara where the 'Eye', at that time, would have been like a 'Island City' in its midst. Ground penetrating radar shows the ancient ports that were located where described and terraces that handled both agriculture and irrigation. The most compelling detail, described by Plato and those before him, is the fresh water spring that locals, nomadic tribes and those on pilgrimage have accessed for thousands of years; and still do. I appreciate your mention of Mudfossil University. I have been following and fact-checking his information for several years. He is amazing...and spot on.

People tend to think of Atlantis as a super modern city with submarines flying craft and machineries powered by some sort of forgotten power source. Jules Vernes and Hollywood made it look and sound that way; It s why so many doubt the existence of such city.
Serious people know that Atlantis was just an antique city not so different from other city found in the Mediterranean coast. They were probably a little bit in advance in the art of metallurgy and architecture. Nothing more.
The arguments those archeologues give as Atlantis being in this part of Southern Spain sound way more convincing than those who claim Santorini is. Doñana fits perfectly the description made by Plato. I am very curious to see what else will they discover after they dig further

@@TigerLily61811 the richat is not in the middle of the Sahara it's less than 200 miles off the west coast of africa. The problem that scientists have is they say it's too dangerous because of bandits and trouble makers. Yet one guy not in the mainstream is on the ground by himself. The richat has the bands of circular lands, the richat has the ancient pottery, the richat shows oceanic evidence of shells and whale bones but the part that sold me was the elephant bones and the two wells in the center of the structure. The two wells are described as one being hot spring of salt water and cold spring of fresh water. If you can just make up a place and call it Atlantis then of course atlantis is in Spain or the Caribbean islands or the middle of the Atlantic ocean or in Greece. Every place searched looks like a cursory examination to appease those of us who are serious about finding the ancient city. But no anger or frustration at not finding Atlantis just no passion at all, let's me know it's not a serious search and also let's me know scientist who say the study of the richat is pseudoscience, takes some fucking notes from those on the ground doing the work that they wont do. Jimmy from bright insite and, I forget his name, who is on the ground at the richat, are doing what archeologists should be doing to prove the richat is or is not Atlantis. If greenland was hit by a comet or asteroid during the younger dryas period then Atlantis would have been completely obliterated. As would have every coastline around the atlantic ocean. Also look at the hands of the Sahara. Going from west to east looks like a massive wave washed over northern africa. The sands of the sahara are shown to be ocean sediment. And the area around the richat not only fits the description of Atlantis but it's even shaped like the eye of ra. This is a major point that too many archeologist ignore. The richat looks like the archetype for the symbol of ra the egyptian god.

I can't say that I know anything about this subject, however it intrigues me greatly. Over the years I have heard many people's ideas of where it was. One thing that I have heard in relation to this is that it happened 9600 years before the time of Solon, which I would suggest would put it at an earlier time period than discussed here. I have heard an account of Plato's description of Atlantis where this date was assigned to it's disappearance. I have never read Critius and Tamaeus, Plato's writings (not sure of the spelling), but have heard the account given a few times. I would suggest that there are many old cities built on what was dry ground, and now are somewhere along the coastlines of continents that became flooded by the abrupt end of the last glacial period which came to its demise around 11000 years ago. If the date associated to this account is part of Plato's writings, it also needs to be connected to the site to be called Atlantis found. The dates being discussed are opinions stated by the finders which would be subject to their bias. Rocks and non living objects cannot be dated except to find how old the rock it was carved from is. Interesting video though.

They also don't want to deal with the fact that sudden changes can and have happened.

Yes, I agree we live in a time when people think, or act like they think that science has answered everything. Those in the mainstream teaching profession have been led, or squashed to believe that things like Atlantis could never have existed without any evidence. They don't even realize that they are under a totalitarian regime. In the world of academia, bias is strong in favour of believing the correct things. I have been corrected though, it was 9000 years before the time of Solon. I have talked to many at university who strike me as dull, and heavily biased. PHD'd professors don't like questions and have told me to go back to gardening when they can't answer my questions. This is a sad place to be for truth. When all the world was semitic and only rogue traveling tribes were japhetic, the main civilizations all had to learn about the flood. After David and Solomon's allied with ethiopia rose in the basin and the story that even Egypt fell for a while due to their God, the word spread. Look at pictures of the eye of Sahara and you can see evidence of water erosion and not from wind erosion. Only thing mainstream scientists will only state evidence from less than 10, 000 years and nothing around 30,000 years and before.
Please keep in mind that I'm not trying to convince you to believe in what I have stated. If you believe differently I can respect your opinion.

Atlantis is in North Africa - you can find it in Goggle Maps - exact match to Platos description - BUT understand that what he described was only the "Love Nest" made by Atlas. Atlantis was much bigger than that description. But the "Love Nest" is an exact match. So the really interesting thing here is that over the years it first sank below the waves, and then later the bedrock rose above the water line to where it is now. there is plenty of evidence that north africa was a very different place a few thousand years ago.

If Asope, the Greek story teller, wrote of Atlantis it would be easy to assume it was a fable as the many he left to us. But when Plato does, do we have any reason to doubt him?
He quotes this came from Solon, a very important figure in Athens, the lawmaker was known for his just laws and judgement.
Would Plato use him with no reason?

There the priest told him a story of a civilization that had been destroyed around 9,000 years before. There aren't many details other than it happen fairly quickly. They told him it was in the west and that there was a mound of mud impassable to ships because of its destruction.

The Minoans did not use them. I have long felt that the story (which purportedly came from Egyptians and their temple walls) are the Sea-peoples referred to in the Temple of Rameses III - built 900 years (not 9000 years) before Platos time
