Looked like a very nice trip. I have never been on Amtrak, we always either drive or fly when we go places but I would consider taking them in the future. Would love to see more videos on Oklahoma the small towns look so neat and interesting,
That looked like a nice relaxing trip! Thanks for sharing! We've taken the Amtrak Silver Meteor from NJ to Orlando multiple times. We get the sleeper room so you have your own bathroom. I find it much more relaxing than air travel. (I guess the downside is that it takes around 22 hours). Soon after we get on the train, they serve lunch in the dining car. Then we go back to the room, play some games and maybe watch a movie on the laptop. By then it is dinner time. After dinner we chat about our upcoming adventure at Disney. I think the turndown service is around 9pm, where the convert the couch to a bed. I like sleeping with the click clack train sounds and swaying. (Some may get motion sick). When we wake up we have breakfast and after that we are about in Orlando. We take an Uber to the hotel, then once you are in Disney no car is needed.
This is awesome 👏🙏😆 What a great trip that must be. And btw I LOVE Disney (we were just there and yes I love that you don’t need a car there)! Air travel has gotten more stressful since Covid so I wld prefer that way too. I wish there was a route from here to Lancaster!! 😂😄☺️. Thanks for sharing. It sounds like the exact situation I would prefer 👍👍
Hi El, great video. We use Amtrak all the time and not all trains are the same. Our biggest trip was from Virginia to Washington to Chicago and on to Seattle and bus to Alaska where we rented a van and toured Alaska. We had a sleeper room with 3 meals a day. We saw the whole upper United States as the train stopped many times in the towns to pick up people and stretch our legs. We had our own toilet and shower. We loved it and we got to see so much. Our first stop with our van was Danali national park. Loved the train ride across the US. Take care.
Wow, George! THAT is a dream trip!! I believe that upper US route is the first one I want to try - we would pick it up in Chicago and then head to Portland that way. Thanks for sharing!! I would prefer my own bathroom for sure 👍 😆

Great video! We enjoy anything that involves travel. We have taken the Auto train from Sanford FL. to Washington DC. got off the train, picked up our car and drove home thru the mountains. It was a great experience. I want to see a oil well in a parking lot. Didn't know such a thing existed. Safe travels
Nice! How handy is that auto train deal! A nice ride up and then you can have your car after to go where you want 😊👍 And, you would get a kick out of some of the places I see oil wells 😆. Thanks for watching and sharing about the auto train 🚂 !
Thanks for the very informative Amtrak travel mode. My neighbors in New jersey always drive to Virginia to take the Auto Train to Sanford, Florida and then take their vehicle to their destination in Orlando, Florida. They love staying in the Roomette with their 2 young daughters. I have considered taking the same route to Florida with my family instead of flying from Atlantic City and then leasing a vehicle. Keep posting all your terrific adventures!
Trying to get David on another Amtrak!! Like he said, we did the Auto-Train (drove 2 hours to the station in Sanford, then the train came within 2 blocks of our house in Jacksonville!). We had the Roomette - it's basically two recliners facing each other, they fold together into a lower bed, then have a bunk above them. I got the lower, David got the upper. It lasted about 5 minutes! He was very claustrophobic, so the porter had to re-set the recliners and we slept in those (barely!). It was fun!
lol 😂 I love how you explained your roomette experience then described it as fun 😆😄 I guess beauty and fun are in the eye of the beholder. We are not small people so I think we would have to spring for a bedroom but Dan told me he’d sleep in the upper bunk - we will see 😊👍 I just think it would be so fun to see so much beauty in America this way!!
@@ElleLiving The standard bedroom isn't much better as the lower bed is smaller than a double bed, someone must sleep in the upper bunk although its like a coffin up there... But since I can fall asleep in a airliner sardine seat, I can fall asleep on a spacious train coach seat...
I have never been to Oklahoma before. I have been to Fort Worth. I went to visit my brother when he was living out there. I have been on Amtrak. I took the train from CT to Baltimore, MD.
How did you like your train ride? Was it crowded? OKC has been growing and adding more fun stuff over the past 10 years or so. But it’s hard to love OK’s tourism industry when a person is used to the east coast and used to all there is to do to there 🤩👍. But I’m trying! 😊

@@ronclark9724 hi Ron yes we visited there not too long after we moved here. It was dusty dry and hot. I love green and there isn’t much do that there 😂 and we chuckled that they called it a mountain bc it was as like a hill to us. However we did see buffalo and the cattle. And thanks for the history! I love hearing about the history of places!! 👏👏😊😊. Maybe we need to go revisit the place. There are actually many state parks we have not visited yet so that would be fun to plan on doing 👍
The train was crowded. We got snacks on the train. The tickets were expensive especially the closer you waited to the date. I like riding on the train you get to see the towns and cities from a different perspective from the highway.
I have ear issues so I do not FLY and I avoid skyscrapers more than ten stories high... I ride trains and buses, drive vehicles, and enjoy cruises... Riding Amtrak is the best way to see America, but to fully enjoy the journey I plan layovers for a day or two wherever I need to make train connections, or simply visit a city or town I wish to spend a day or two at. There is usually museums and other tourist attractions worthy of visiting. From Washington state ferries over Puget Sound to the beaches of Florida, and the fishing holes throughout America whether a river, lake, or creek. Crappie, bass, perch, catfish, salmon, or rainbow trout, I am not picky when it comes to freshly caught fish...
@@ronclark9724 this is awesome! What great adventures and great advice! If my hometown wasn’t so far away I’d drive more - it takes up 4 extra days of vacation for my husband when we drive. But YES! I would LOVE to try some Amtrak routes! It looks amazing and yo ur advice for having a layover is a great one!! Thanks for all this!
You mentioned no security…there is a lot of security you don’t see. If you try anything you shouldn’t be doing, you are guaranteed to see security. I love the train…so relaxing.
Well that’s good to know 😊👍 I just found it very interesting 🤨 but only about 25 of us got on :). I can see why you love the train. I can’t wait to take a bigger trip 😍

No it doesn’t look like it. The closest station I saw was Cincinnati 👍
