Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this very performance at Budokan 😍. On Feb.19 (and 20,too), 2021, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans again. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they revived it that day. After an exciting battle choreo by muscle sisters and a subsequent totally silent interval, Su-Metal showed up like a goddess standing solely in the center of foggy lake. It was divine beauty. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. (Even after I viewed Blu-ray videos released thereafter) There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there, especially by Su's matured rich voice.

The first line is not necessary.
The reason we love BABY METAL is not because she is Japanese.
Please don't bring nationalism into the music we love.

@rean9603 There's nothing wrong with the first line he is just saying thank you from Japan . I have no problem with that . Many others probley don't either as he comments on many reactions, and you're the first to comment about it . If anything their is no need for your comment. 🤔🤘🏼🦊

@@martinmetal7481 Thank you Martin. I just want to say "even a viewer in the far east country is enjoying your reaction video". I use this first line even in my comments on reaction videos to songs NOT by Japanese musicians. (like by Tower Of Power, Bring Me The Horizon)

"Akatsuki" is my all time favorite song. The song, the stage Su-metal, the kamis... everything is perfect. But please take a moment to admire the bass lines. Even BOH played it on a live stream and the clip is still out there if anyone is interested: "Boh BASS - AKATSUKI BABYMETAL". 😁

There's another version of this song you should check out. It's quite different. Do a search for Akatsuki Unfinished. I don't know if you've ever heard/reacted to that song before, but if you haven't, you'll be in for a treat. It was only performed once or twice and Su was only 16 at the time of the performance.. Anyhow, check it out. You'll get to REALLY enjoy Su's vocals in that one as its just her, a piano and I think some violins.

Great reaction! Loved how you were mouthing the lyrics during the performance. You should check out, if you have not already, another Babymetal Su Metal solo song "AMORE" th-cam.com/video/35lj_XEjqYU/w-d-xo.html. This video from the Wembley 2016 show is, in my opinion, the best version. Regardless, it is probably my favorite Babymetal song (which can be a tough call)...and I think you might like it? Su and the band are on fire! A logoed version, but not to bad :)

Always considered Akatsuki to be one of BM's most underrated songs. Its live versions were probably the most updated from their early catalogue, but also something they needn't outgrow over time (since the theme is so timeless) & yet is the proverbial 'deep cut' (since it lacks the catchy hooks or singalong chorus of DDM, Megitsume, Gimme Choco et al).
It reminds the fact that Su started out singing in musical theater too. She was part of the otherwise all-male cast of 'Boukensha Tachi' 冒険者たち in 2009 & 2010 (there's a DVD release) during her Karen Girl's period before Sakura Gakuin was formed.
The earliest highlight was at the 2012 'Legend I' show, when she first sang Akatsuki's romantic lyrics at age 14, with all the pathos & idealism of a mid-teen. BTW TH-cam has all of the concert clips I'm gonna mention in this response.
The next interpretation was the recorded audio track, which was released as a B-side (2013) & with BM's first studio album (2014). During this period, Koba also challenged Su by progressively replacing the mime-band 'Babybones' dancers with real musicians onstage (Kami Band, then featuring Ohmura & Leda on dueling guitars).
Initially playing small shows, BM's new live chemistry would improve dramatically throughout 2013. Akatsuki's growth was ultimately unveiled at the Red Night/Black Night shows at the larger Budokan venue in March 2014, when the guitarists deservingly got centerstage time in mid-song. Su turned 17 that year.
But Koba wasn't done yet: he wanted more dramatic theatricality for the live presentation. Back in 2013 for the 'Legend Z' show, Su was tasked to do a little fight choreography with an anonymous doppelganger during the instrumental break (to represent the internal conflict within herself).
Fast forward to 2018. Yui's sudden absence required significant choreography changes, & BM's dance director Mikiko presumably chose to turn to someone she trusted, namely the so-called Musclemetals Minako & Minami (who were a decade older than Moa, much taller than Su, very strapping & lanky in warrior garb, & who also happened to have martial arts experience). Minako & Minami proceeded to spar with each other during Akatsuki, a standout sequence that was unfortunately overlooked (due to the year-long fan dismay over Yui, & also the Musclemetals expanding into the Chosen Seven & subsequently back to a trio for the other tour legs that year).
So that revision missed their moment in the sun, which was very unfortunate since Su (then about to turn 21) was maturing into a stronger & seasoned singer. Rather than faltering, she would impress with her vocal dexterity in new songs like BxMxC & Distortion the next year, both of which could've otherwise been consigned to Black Babymetal sidetracks.
The Musclemetals were brought back for a couple of shows during the 10 Babymetal Budokan anniversary series in 2021 (whose live video you've now reacted to). Su is almost 24, obviously a grown-up but still earnestly baring her feelings on Atkatsuki. Minako & Minami's fight choreography was finally appreciated for its aesthetics when it took centerstage.

    _Akatsuki daaaa!_ 🦊🤘🔥
You can hear in the first SuMetal scream the right way to pronounce this word without the "da" at the end, it reads something like "ah - kats - key", the u is silent.
She performed this same song live at Budokan 2014 when having only 16 yo, and you can clearly notice the difference between teenage SuMetal vs. grown up vocals and technique in this version.
Akatsuki was one of the highlights live at Budokan 2021 when celebrating their 10 Years, of course this SuMetal performance is one of those beautiful and powerful solo she had back then.
The fight choreography is another tribute to early performance either when SuMetal was fighting against her doppelganger at one of the Legend "IDZ" in 2012/2013, or later in 2018 when the muscle-metal did the fight between them at Dark Night Carnival concert.
When the music stop and switches to the ballad piano version is a tribute to Legend 1997 held in 2013 when performing Akatsuki Unfinished Version.
Pretty much is a power/metal ballad song about fighting for her love.
The crowd unfortunately was a prerecorded sound because this was made during pandemic situation and no one was allowed to shout or doing mosh pit, also the capacity was cut to half, everyone had a great time thou.
This song is a tribute to another legendary visual-key Japanese band called X-Japan - Kurenai (i recommend that song), and one of the founder member, Yoshiki, got also another tribute with the song Headbanger!!
    Next suggestion:
    - F.Hero x Bodyslam x BabyMetal - Leave It All Behind official MV.
Thanks for sharing this special version.🦊🤘🔥

Great performance🦊@jakemuller8626 has explained everything about the fight scene, earlier and alternate performances and the 'unfinished' version that Su performed just one time at the legend 1997 concert in 2013.🤘🦊
