Babymetal is unique in this world, they combine the Japanese Pop and idol and 'kawaii' culture with authentic metal music/sound. They ended up creating a new genre of metal: kawaii metal (cute/adorable metal).
The Budokan venue is similar in fame in Japan to Madison Square Garden in the US.
When you perform there, "you've made it". Babymetal was the youngest female act ever to perform there. They were 14, 14 and 16 at the time.
They have many records. Including for example: first and only band in whole of Asia to ever have the #1 spot with their album in the US rock/metal (Billboard) charts.
As you said their dancing is also amazing, but the most amazing part is how they both sing and dance (and have parts in the choreography to not dance when singing to catch their breath).
The part at the end where they act to 'fall down from exhaustion' is actually a tribute to an other band from Japan: X-Japan, who's drummer at the end of a long show would also be exhausted and hit the gong to end the show.
Babymetal exists because of the main singer: Suzuka Nakamoto or Su-metal as she is called in Babymetal. Everything about Babymetal was build around her at the center. And as you probably have already noticed they are masters are crowd participation.
I hope you'll do more Babymetal reactions, they are amazing performers and their music can be very surprising. You'll see everyone involved in Babymetal has great talent and worked really hard to deliver the best shows. Most of their songs are happy/positive songs, lots of metal music is not, which is part of what sets them apart from a lot of other metal bands. Their are 2 kinds of songs in the world: those songs you put on when you are in a certain mood and want music to fit that mood. Or music which changes your mood, Babymetal is in the second category and I think that kind of music is the best music.

As autohmae or RoadRunner, and other guys have already explained in his passionate comments, "Budokan (武道館)" is originally a common noun that describes a martial arts hall (Dojo) where Judo, Kendo, Karate, etc. are played and we have many ones in Japan. But the 'Nippon Budokan', located in Kudan, Tokyo, is like a headquarter for all of them in Japan, and the word "Budokan" has become a proper noun to describe that Tokyo's one.
It's a song that they still perform, but it's the those period Yui & Moa jump with their arms and legs spread wide open, and now Moa doesn't jump anymore. That is fine but their energy is so great as you said. I am moved. Thank you from Japan.

MoaMetal still jumps except that she doesn't jump the entire song like she used to, i think this is part of the learning process she as a dancer needed to learn, when she and YuiMetal were "chichai"(UwU) they gave it all ending up exhausted and crumbling to the floor with no energy, they learned this was ultimately hurting in time because your body sooner or later will let you know the consequences, and she talked about it a couple of times in interviews, she even doesn't recognize herself when she watches that little girl jumping around lol. We love the energy but also we love knowing they're not hurting themselves physically with overload dances choreos.

Even though Su has a beautiful soprano voice, I love that she sings a lot of this one in a lower register.

I was thrilled when they brought 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' back during the 2019 tour, and I was finally able to see it live at the LA Forum concert.
'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits.
Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the single and video were released.
At that age she was on stage, rather than taking the train to see concerts like the girl in the song. : )
There's a fair amount of complicated wordplay in the song, like "ichigo" meaning "15" (1+5), "strawberry", and "once in a lifetime", but essentially it's about the ephemeral nature of youth.

No hesitation in saying I enjoyed your reaction better than most, perhaps the best. "Headbanger" or more properly "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" is a real classic and a very loved song.
The song is about a girl who attends to her first metal concert on the night of her 15th birthday and that new experience causes a great impact on her. That is the age of the end of the compulsory school in Japan so the song is actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind with a glimpse of nostalgia, It's not a biographical theme because this is a pretty early song and Su-metal performed it for the first time when she was only 14 years old.
During the gong scene, Moa hits accidentally Su's mic and it's about to get lost but she manages to catch it very professionally.
That Budokan's stage is really insane and also a little dangerous. The fact is that Yui fell of the stage the previous concert ("Red Night") during this song's call and response and missed the second half. But she appeared again for the next and closing one ("Ijime, Dame Zettai"). And then, Moa slipped on a turn while running and got injured right at the beginning of the song, but she stood up (almost in tears) until the end of the show. That breaks my heart but it's just another proof of their huge professionalism. On the next day's show (Black Night, the one on this video), the outer part of the stage appeared full of railings, of course!.
Thanks for the memory. I’m a relative newbie to BM (about 2 years). I’ve switched to purchasing BVDs, but the Red Night was my concert download back then. I must have watched it a dozen times before learning of the accidents on stage. Frankly, they were so impressive I had zero clue that these incidents occurred. I went back and watched the last two songs again and armed with a little knowledge really noticed the difficulties and professionalism. Of course their talents are off the charts, but to witness that level of dedication from such young girls at a historic concert just floors me.
@@michelm.6033 The Budokan DVD was my first BABYMETAL delorean (basically because it's inexpensive) and then I also bought the BD (because I'm stupid lol). But I already knew what happened the first night so I never watched the Red Night concert (I mean fully, I had watched all the songs as separate pieces before) until last January 1st. I wanted it to be the first thing I did this year. And still hurts. Ending "Headbanger" without Yui, the way they make eye contact checking if they are Ok, Moa's facial expression during IDZ...
They are incredibly awesome.

In the breakdown Yui and Moa are basically shouting "Hedoban" or "Headbang". Here is a quick translation (thanks to Du-Metal)

Headbanger is about the bittersweet coming of age of a 15 year old girl who takes the train to a metal concert and throws herself into the mosh pit. She vows to remember how she feels knowing that her carefree childhood will soon be over.
I recommend "Rondo of Nigthmare" from the same concert and "Road of Resistance Live in Japan".

Nice reaction. Babymetal gets blocked a lot. But reacting to them is well worth it. Their choreography is done in a way that Yui and Moa are giving the crowd clues on what to do. So, when they jump you will see the crowd jump. They dance to every song through the whole concert. In their early days like this concert, they had built in breaks. Between songs and Su the lead singer would do solo songs to give Yui and Moa a break and then Yui and Moa would do a Duo song to give Su a break. I think in this video Su is 17 and Yui and Moa are 15. They started Babymetal when they were just 12 and 10. Adorable kawaii metal goddesses. This song is about going to your first concert at age 15. which is like sweet 16 in other cultures. While at the concert realizing how great this is then becoming a bittersweet moment as you realize this only happens once. You then etch it into your heart to remember forever. The members of Babymetal had all been to concerts long before age 15 and performed in them way before 15 as well. Amazingly talented at such a young age. Today Su is 24, Yui and Moa are 22. Over the years they have also gained skills to go along with that talent. Su is known for her powerful vocals and an uncanny ability to portray emotions with her pure clean vocals. Check out Su doing a solo at age 16. "Akatsuki" Unfinished version is a must hear. It's from the Legend 1997 concert. 1997 is the year Su was born. Not the year the concert was done. I look at this stage there are already fences around the outer perimeter. The fact is that Yui just during the performance of this particular song and on this stage during the warm-up of the crowd (middle of the song) fell down (I read that the height was more than 2.5 meters). Su and Moa were left alone.
Fortunately, Yui returned to the stage in the next song.

Their activities have been worldwide since 2014 starting right after this performance at Budokan. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now. In the latest world tours from June 2019 through March 2020 (prior to COVID), they performed live 20 times in USA, 19 in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan. Last year, they carefully restarted their activities and completed 10 serial concerts here in Tokyo taking very strict countermeasures against infection. There are little nuances to their performance too. Like the godfathers of metal in Japan are a band called X-Japan, who had their heyday in the 80s and 90s. They woiuld play until they were exhausted, and the drummer Yoshiki would signal the end of the concert by striking a gong. The end of the song is a nod to Yoshiki and X-Japan.
Babymetal's energy is amazing. At this point they are 90 minutes into the show, and they still bring it. They are unique.

I have reviewed all their songs this month. From different concerts, in different versions, compilations and mixes. The perception of the track depends very much on the video sequence. Especially in the performance of such masters of live performances.
You still have ahead. There are a lot of songs that are different from those that you have already looked at. I won’t recommend anything specific, because: firstly, it’s a matter of taste, and secondly, they simply don’t have frankly weak and passing, hacky works.
The only thing I want to draw your attention to is to choose the video version of each song more carefully. Naturally in a live performance. And if possible, watch those versions where there are great instrumental intros.
