    4:42 in was a critical point for me, resetting the new motor...something I had not done on my previous attempt to fix wipers that only worked on one speed. Now I have fully working wipers on my Silverado. Thanks for the straight video.

    Step by step was perfect for my 2004 chevrolet k2500 HD.
    Wipers worked only on high. No intermediate operation, no washers and would not park.
    40 minutes being careful.
    Thank you for the video!

    You guys have earned my business and recommendation over the years, to friends, family and other folks that are cash strapped but capable of learning and doing a job correctly with the right tools and parts, while avoiding buying unnecessary parts and paying huge labor and overhead costs. You guys are awsome!
    Snap-on or any other tool company should love and want to support your videos as well.
    Thank you once again! Teaching is the most noble of professions!

    Thanks guys! Great video-and the only thing I wasn’t 100% Sure of was the alignment of the new motor arm, which I had to attached to the spindle, however I approximated the angle that you illustrate in the video and it worked fine. Only took about an hour to put it back together. And my symptoms were the wipers would not turn off -only could turn them off by pulling the fuse

    Thank you for the video, I not only changed my wiper motor, I also installed a sheet of wire mesh over the fresh air intake to keep the damn $%@)$% mice out of the blower and the cabin
    Underneath the cowl on passenger side, I took my die grinder and cut a square hold 5 x7 inches big enough to get the wire cloth in there and expoxied that over the intake
    My 2004 GMC 2500HD didn't even come with cabin filter so I'm at least going to be able to prevent the bastard rodents from getting in.

    Very useful video, Only thing I would add (after doing my 2002 silverado), Take a picture of the orientation of the short linkage bar that attaches to the drive spline before removing the assembly from the vehicle, this will allow you to verify the correct orientation once the new motor is attached, and save a lot of time adjusting, The short linkage bar will be pointing to the left approximately just before the nine o'clock position, the farthest point left without bringing the wiper arms down at the start of the stroke.

    • @8uercus366
      @8uercus366 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah thanks for the tip. Wish that would have been in the video too! I'll try the adjustment. Figured there would be a clarification in the comments. Linkage bar should point to the left when the whole transmission is attached, correct?

    • @alajones5428
      @alajones5428 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. They really need to add that part. My replacement motor didn’t come with a linkage arm.

    For this generation Chevrolet truck, also good to check your passenger side under-cowl water barrier, while you're in here doing wiper or wiper motor repair. The integrity of the openings & seals under that black cowl is a chronic issue in these vehicles, which manifests in water dripping onto the passenger floorboard...or worse, dripping down behind the dash, under the carpet, soaking it from underneath.

  • @darthtrack771
    @darthtrack771 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Question: passenger blade works fine, driver only twitches, what is the issue, I think the actual arm that holds the blade stripped out, but I haven't looked yet. Any advice?

    My windshield wipers don't move at all. How do I know for certain it is indeed the motor? Could it be the transmission, a fuse? 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT.

    • @quiettime6871
      @quiettime6871 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the fuse, it's in the panel on the drivers side when you open the door. If you have a multimeter, You can check the circuit for voltage. If thats all good it's probably the motor. If a linkage bushing is bad, you would probably hear some thrashing noise.

    I bought for A1A and installed the motor just as in the video. However when turned on the wipers turn the wrong direction and immediately go down and obviously stop and don’t go further.
    What is wrong and what should I do?

      @@1AAuto I bought the part from y’all so I could do it myself. I did everything as it was done in your video. But I cant change the direction of the motor that y’all gave me which is wrong. It goes opposite of what makes the wipers lift then drop. Otherwise I’ll need to send the motor back and buy from a part company that can send me a working part

      Are you sitting down?! The Chevy dealership quoted me $1,600. to replace the motor on my 2002 Trailblazer. The charge to "diagnose" the problem and do a minor fix that didn't work was $600.00. That means I'd be out a total of $2,200.! This was two years ago and it's still not fixed and driving me crazy. Thank God for this video so that I can now do it myself!

THE HOSE ITSELF LEADING FROM THE RESERVOIR SNAPPED ( TAPED THAT BACK 2GETHER) 3. THE EDGE CORNER THAT SECURES THE SMALL T-15 BOLT..SNAP!...GETTING THE TRANSMISSION BACK IN WAS A BITCH FOR SOME REASON....OUT COOL, BACK IN, HELL NO.... GEEZ,,,20 MINUTE FIGHT............ALSO ONE OF THE CLIPS POPPED OFF - LOST 4EVER...... GOT IT DONE THO....TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED DUE TO THE UNFORESEEN. SOMETHING STILL NOT RIGHT, OPERATES GOOD, BUT HESITATES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CYCLE. STOPS WHEN TURNED OFF...THEN A HALF INCH JUMP UP....
