    It's an odd geographical fit, but it gets Chicago State a conference and keeps the NEC NCAA-compliant.

      Chicago State being in the WAC was an odd geographical fit too, but they made it work. I think a big mistake of former President Obama is not putting his Presidential library at Chicago State, as that would added a boost to help Chicago State bring in needed money long term.

    Good for CSU. I have hopes that they can make a go of it in the NEC and stay for a long time. Thanks for your video!

      Honestly this is the best solution for both Chicago St and the NEC. I believe Chicago St travel will go down because they are not having to travel out west and all of their sports are covered within the NEC conference. Whether this is a long term fit is going to be determine if the NEC will expand to pickup schools within a small business trip to Chicago St. The MEAC should take lesson from the leadership of the NEC.

    • @LymetimeProductions
      @LymetimeProductions 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@EyeOfTheWatcher i was expecting Chicago St to the MEAC before the NEC but that was also before SHU and Merrimack left. And you make some valid points. The NEC feels like a better fit than the WAC for CSU, also glad they can stay D1 and dont have to drop down

    • @EyeOfTheWatcher
      @EyeOfTheWatcher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LymetimeProductions The problem with the MEAC is they are so focus on getting schools with football, they will reject any school that does not have football or guarantee that a football program will be started. Travel to CSU would screw up the other schools just like having FAMU and BCU hurt the other schools, as half the schools cut baseball and other sports to stay afloat while FAMU and BCU was in the conference. Keep this in mind the now retired Coach at SCSU never had his team travel on a plane for the over 15 years he was the coach at SCSU until his team went to the celebration bowl a few years ago. It is simple unless the MEAC can pull in more revenue for the schools, then it is not wise for them to expand outside of their current foot print. Howard has about 7 or 8 sports as part of the NEC and that why they was looking at joining the CAA so that they could have the majority of their sports in conference.
      If Chicago State ended up the MEAC they would have still had to join other conference to cover the majority of their sports and thus the NEC is the best option because that means all of their sports are covered under one conference. If the NEC wants to make it work with Chicago State on a more longer term basis, they will need to expand with more schools near Chicago State to help with travel costs for the whole conference.

    • @EyeOfTheWatcher
      @EyeOfTheWatcher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I will say it depends if the NEC is looking to expand the conference using schools closer to Chicago state. I notice that the NEC has not wasted any time in promoting that they are now in the Chicago TV market.

    Can you do a rebuilt PAC-12 potential conference with best of MW and AAC as premier G5 conference after OSU/WSU won their court battle against the ten leaving schools. Would like to know what assets pac-2 will have, liabilities they are looking at, what a future media deal could look like, what schools they should go after, etc.

  • @Lawomenshoops
    @Lawomenshoops 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The Summit and WAC should work out a deal, Summit becomes a home for all non football schools from the Summit and WAC. The MVFC goes down to 7 schools.
    10 Team Summit
    Seattle
    CBU
    GCU
    UTA
    UVU
    Summit
    KC
    Omaha
    Denver
    St. Thomas
    ORU
    WAC 10 teams
    4 Dakota
    ACU
    SFA
    UTRGV
    Tarleton
    Utah Tech
    SUU
    If they all want to move up to FBS, and not pay the $5M fee, maybe this is the way to go?

  • @Lawomenshoops
    @Lawomenshoops 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The four year waiting period was implemented, because the NCAA did not want D2 school to be with a bunch of D1 transfers, and then, when a conference title, and go to March madness. Wagner did that. During that time if a D1 player transferred to a D2 school, you were immediately eligible to play.
    With the portal that argument goes out the window. Maybe cut the transition time in half, to two years?

    • @EyeOfTheWatcher
      @EyeOfTheWatcher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it would depend on what contracts a school has as well because some schools schedule their stuff out years in advance. I agree the transition time should be cut, but it need to be based on certain financial requirements as well because in part the 4 year transition was functioning as a stress test of a school finances when it comes to supporting sports at a D1 level.

  • @animenopaawaa
    @animenopaawaa 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    To me, the move makes sense, so that the NEC could keep its automatic qualifying bids alive for most of the sports. But it looks like history might repeat itself, because it had happened before back 8 years ago, when the A-Sun added NJIT. During that tenure, the A-Sun slowly but surely was rebuilding to expansion, especially since after NJIT left for the AE (AmEast).
    So I wonder if after adding Chicago State would help rebuild themselves to add more members after Stonehill and LeMoyne complete their reclassifying transition process, as well as Chicago State's eventual departure for a more regional friendly conference (i.e.: Horizon, Summit, OVC) once the Cougars somehow gain some experience or success from a standpoint of being competitive.

    • @mozilla2576
      @mozilla2576 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What happened in a different conference to different teams has nothing to do with this situation. Stop trying to tie every situation into something from the past....they don't relate and situations are different with each school and each conference.
      Why do you constantly push your regionality concerns in every post you make? Schools don't want to be right next door to other schools. Every conference wants new territories....they don't want all their schools in a 10 mile box.
      And if the Horizon, Summit or OVC wanted CSU...they would have already done something about it. Try thinking about situations from the conference point of view...rather than your own misinformed desires and reasoning.

      CSU, i am certain....is totally stoked that they now have a home. It will take a ton of pressure off their athletic director to find schools to schedule. As well as...I am certain that the NEC is totally happy to have another live body to fill out their ranks and keep them in good standing with the NCAA. It is a total win/win situation. Be happy for both of them. Don't worry about the future and forget about the past....they have nothing to do with the present situation.
      And regionality....have you heard of the Big10, Big East or A10.....they cover the same type of region that the NEC is now using. Those conferences seem to be doing well. Have faith brother.

    Would love to see a video on Charlie Baker's new subdivision proposal, and who you think would and would not commit to it and its effects on other D1 schools.

    • @EyeOfTheWatcher
      @EyeOfTheWatcher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they end up doing what is proposed, then I hope they have a way to protect the new subdivision from getting too many members. Remember the original idea for the FBS and FCS split was to create a balance in the football schools, but due to having a low requirements to get into the FBS expanded to too many schools. In reality the NCAA wishes they could kick maybe half or more of the 135 FBS schools back done to FCS. It would be interesting to see how this will effect title 9 requirements for women sports and the non revenue generating sports because if money is going to paying players, would they be require to pay players for sports that don't make any money.

    • @LymetimeProductions
      @LymetimeProductions 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EyeOfTheWatcher I'd expect them to have to pay players equally in their sports. Men and Women alike before all the NIL deals. Personally I feel like the NCAA is making a good move but also a bad one because it's going to basically be the haves and the have nots money wise but that's how it's always been.

    • @EyeOfTheWatcher
      @EyeOfTheWatcher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LymetimeProductions They have to get the salary from somewhere and the profits is going to be the best bet to used to pay the players, but from some sports, including a higher number of women sports, don't make money and have to be supported by the profits from football. The section of title 9 that comes up with the calculation for the number of women sports is based on scholarships in part and if they switch to employee method then what reason will they have to keep some of the sports around that don't make enough money to pay for themselves. ECU for example only has women swimming because of title 9 and given the chance they will cut the program like the men's team.

      They are in better shape than the MEAC. I think the NEC are going to have to be proactive about expanding and have talks with schools that are looking to move up that are in their new geographical footprint. The only thing I am worry about is if the NEC expands in their classic regional footprint, would they think about kicking Chicago St out to cut travel costs down.

    Have there been any new rumors on if and when the Horizon League is going to add another school? I'm a Cleveland State Basketball fan and the conference has been stuck with 11 teams since UIC left a couple of years ago. It seemed like right after they left there were always rumors of schools that could potentially be added as the 12th member of the conference. The last year or so I haven't really heard anything as far as that goes however.

    The consolidation of leagues in the FBS is undoubtedly going to create the consolidation of leagues in the FCS and so on and so forth.
    It will be the only way to be taken seriously, that and I am assuming the NCAA is likely trying to get the reclassification of the subdivisions done sooner rather than later
