- Observer is a game where you play as Rutger Hauer in the year 2084. Other than that, I'm still not sure what's going on. It's time to get REAL crazy with it. It's time for Scary Game Squad.
Buy the game DRM free for yourself at: www.gog.com/ga...
Scary Game Squad is:
Jesse - @JesseCox
Davis - @TeamDavis
Jirard - @JKCompletesIt
Alex - @FacianeA
Observer is a physiological horor game by Blooper Team, played on PS4.

Not going to lie, I wish this whole channel was Scary Game Squad.
Me too lol 😂
"I love steampunk. Cyberpunk. Whatever, same thing."
This kills the man.
lmao
39:28 Actually he's one of the better kinds of witnesses. He's not pretending to see/remember things that he doesn't actually recall. A *lot* of people try to be *very* specific and wind up accidentally making things up because their memory is desperately trying to fill in the gaps; your brain winds up filling the gaps with suggestible clues from the conversation or even from your current environment (completely unrelated to what you're being asked). Brain Games on National Geographic actually did a really good piece on how fluid/flexible memory is especially when it comes to these kinds of things.
One of the reasons why eye witness testimony is so unreliable is exactly what you were talking about. It's not like people are lying, they remember events in the way that they're saying, they're just wrong because their brain has filled in the gaps.
So "With Fire and Sword" is a book published in 1884, the first room has the book 1984 in it and the game is set in 2084
Im starting to see a pattern
Rutger Hauer passed away today. I thought of this gameplay instantly.
"Hmm, it says ignored. We should definitely obsess over this for like a minute."
While I was also frustrated by their obsession of it, the choice of "ignored" was a poor choice on the dev's part. "Irrelevant" would probably have been better verbiage.
ZeikJT polish to English issue, perhaps?
VoltieBird thats the squad for ya
I find the effects these developers utilize fascinating. It's not a game that I would play personally because I do not enjoy playing games like these, but I love seeing talented developers do crazy things like this and Layers of Fear. Good job, dev!
Yes, Hauers voice is really raspy. Thats because he is old, not because english is not his first language. His english is generally really good.
Janus is also the god of doorways if I'm remembering correctly.
MadManToTheMax Yep, "Janus is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, and endings."
MadManToTheMax and choices/decisions
Basically anything where one thing meets a second thing.
He is also depicted as a man with a face on the back of his head - one always looking into the past, while Janus's 'main face' is always looking forward into the future.
1:58 "I just hope it's not scary" Davis 2017
Guys, calling it now. It's definitely Wendingos
Talon134 Wendingos FTFY :P
Them wendingos being all defiant 'n' shit. Fokkin knob'eads.
Alien Wendigos obviously.
Talon134 Confirmed
DEFIANTLY WENDINGOS
My internet went out when this popped up in my notifications.
I only felt two things.
Anger.
And more anger.
Flames... On the side of my face!
What happened to Australian Davis? Did they kill him after his t-shirts didn't sell?
Oof
He died in a fire
Whoever did the music/intro for this game really nailed the classic 90s style nine inch nails sound and look. Hats off to it.
Rutger Hauer's accent is noticeable even in Kingdom Hearts 3.(He took over voice acting for Lenord Nemoy's character Xehanort) I guess it is just a strong accent.
"You might wanna watch this above 240p"
*immediately switches to 144p*
For true Polish/White Croatian/Krakovian experience!
the funny thing is: all the artifacts basically disappear at 144p, so if you don't really care about reading anything, it IS easier on the eyes XD
"My name is Daniel Lazarski. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
I do so love Scary Game Squad.
Also the problem with the main character's voice is not that he isn't English, it's that he sounds old. Considering Hauer is 73, well, there you go.
Gotta love it when part 1 of a series is legit feature film length haha xD
So.....the murder victim at the end was criminal that spent time in prison. He tried to escape, was recaught, transfered to a max prison. He got out, got married, his wife got the phage, and he was captured by the cleaners. They "cleaned" him, do a load of scans, determined he was clean then released him?
Then he got his face biten off by a berserk phage victim?
My interpretation of the dream sequence.
Yep, seemed liked a pretty straightforward life story to me, if told in a quite disturbing way.
The thing that bit his face off is probably the murderer, though. No clue if phage victim.
Wait - I got most of that too, but how did you figure that they "cleaned" him, scanned him and determine he was clean?
Feels like forever since your first Scary Game Squad... honestly to this day my fave series on all of youtube... I mean.... it's to be expected since Jessie is my all time fave TH-camr can't wait for the end of this year, for you to hit a million!
I KNEW THEY'D DO THIS AND I WAITED NOT SO PATIENTLY, THANK YOU SQUAD
You guys were overthinking the "Dive". There are a lot of references to addiction in Amir's memories: the fix, the high, the cold shower. The "You can beat this" line is the wife's attempt to pep talk him into beating the addiction that he got in prison. The memories haven't mixed that much.
"Should I Police Business him?"
Davis 2017
"Did we get anything from all that?" They completely forgot why they jacked into the dude cause they were too busy BSing with each other. That was a bit painful to end on. The whole reason you jacked into the dude was to find out what happened to him. All of that was the dude's memories flashing before his eyes as he died. He had no control over his thoughts. The one thing you were looking for was right at the end. Right before he took his fatal wound. You saw who/what his killer was.
That entire sequence was painful to watch. Every supposition they made was wrong.
"Its just a recording" no you're accessing his mind by interfacing with his neural interface.
"It doesn't matter if he's dead" yes it does. Neurons stop firing it stops working.
"We're super fucked up so this is all scrambled" no, he is dying so its falling apart at the seems. You in fact almost die yourself being connected to him while he dies.
I was actually waiting for the Scary Game Squad to tackle this one. Now that they have, I realize how painfully frustrating it is to watch!
"Even the garbage cans we're a mess." - Jesse Cox 2017
Yo Tom and Irene are living the dream. Plot twist, they are the real antagonist. Overly optimist and nosey neighbors.
Watching this during the pandemic, the nanophage stuff hits different. Especially the advice document.
I suffer from epilepsy.
Still watched.
Died
Worth it
I DONT suffer from epilepsy.
Had massive fucking headaches after 5 minutes of davis swapping modes nonstop with that shitty fucking distortion graphic.
Died. Not worth.
I have two options here; watch it at my pc and not be comfortable or i can watch this in bed on my phone, being so fucking comfortable i fall asleep half way through and when i wake up i'll never find the exact point when i fell asleep.
"What if it's like a guy who wanted to become a wolf but it, like, went too far?" Pretty close.
Also, I'm getting more Soma vibes from this, rather than Layers of Fear.
I hope they process this one better than they did Soma.
Alex, the name of that movie is The Cell, and you should look up the director. He does crazy things self-funded that are amazing.
"This is Deus Ex, just 30 years in the future."
Sooo... Deus Ex?
Listening to that doctor rattle off his advice about dealing with the Phage feels a lot different in covid times. Yet surprisingly accurate.
Guy in the comments section of the last SGS freakin' called it. So glad they're playing this game.
I would love to see them play a good pixel horror game sometime. Those are my favorite types of horror games.
Watching them play corpse party would be amazing 👏
Davis hopes it is not scary and we are all like "We only invite you to one type of game Davis!".
1:20:06 There was an option earlier in the convo that let you tell her to get off her high horse.
With fire and sword is a book and a movie. You don't fight bigass spiders there but you totally rescue a hot blonde ;)
1:00:01 well watching this in 2021 is... something
Lmao.. wow.
It's almost scary.
This game is very much like deus ex, there's augmentations, a guy named adam, and a guy named janus, too. I feel like the developers really like the series.
I believe the 'you can beat this thing' line is in reference to the guy having been a drug addict. He probably was trying to get clean after he got married.
The opening credits look like a Nine Inch Nails video from the 90's. I've heard some good things about this game. I'm excited to see SGS play it.
It's much better than Layers of Fear imho. I hope they go around talking to everyone and looking at everything because the coversations with the neighbours are one of the highlights of this game. Quite the collection of creepy, unsettling, unnerving, weird, and overall fucked up... specimens in this game. Top notch delivery by the various voice actors too. It also helps that the gameplay is generally more extensive than "interact with object for spooky".
Then again I'm the guy that didn't really like Layers of Fear as much as everyone else but loved the everliving fuck out of Soma, so maybe I'm the weird one.
I kinda wish SGS would check the options menu and turn up the FoV when they play these first-person horror games because this low FoV with Davis's fidgety right thumb make these videos hard to watch without getting nauseated. :X
VostokTheROBOT this game doesn't have fov options. Late response but yeee
Rutger Hauer has an awesome voice! And he is 73 years!! Stay alive and voice-act other games for us!
They're forgetting to read the emails at the top and it's driving me crazy. SO MUCH GOOD LORE
YES. Just what I needed to end my sunday night! A super long SGS episode on a game I was really hoping to see you guys play! Thank you for getting to it so quickly!
I had JUST gotten off of work when I got the notification. Great timing, Mr. Cox.
Ehh, I'm going to try and press on but the moment the scanner was first activated, I already knew it was going to make me horrifically motion sick ://
High school just starts again today and Jesse uploads new SGS just in time for me to watch before going. God is real
JUMP SCARE SPOILER (JUST 1)
SCARE AT 54:58 HOLY CRAP MY HEART ALMOST FELL OUT OF MY CHEST HESUSFU
first video i've ever watched from this channel. subscribed.
M R welcome
Welcome to the madness that is both Jesse Cox, and the Scary Game Squad :-p
M R welcome old sport. It's nice here.
I freaking love the ending of the videos, BRING THE STRIPPERS AND BOOZE
It's scary how on the nose they are about what's going on with just a few clues. I always love watching these kind of games through the SGS lens.
yes, i waited so hard for this! i literally avoided so many of my favorite content creators to save myself for scary game squad
I KEEP THINKING JIRARD AND ALEX ARE THE SAME BOY AND THERE ARE ONLY 3 PEOPLE HELP
RoxasNotAFox if he's annoying as hell it's usually Alex. If he's giggling at his own jokes before he's shared them then is its Jirard
but how do i tell whos giggling, its like twins in anime
Yeah, I used to have that problem. You'll get used to it eventually.
i mean, ive been watching for most of the time theyve been the squad soooo
What fourth person? Yeah, I know that this is four man show but I seriously have hard time to recognize more than three persons talking.
Dat circular graphic directly from Ghost in the Shell... I see you, game devs! :) I love cyberpunk bullshit, so I'm 100% on board for this, lmao.
Word of the wise: do NOT fall asleep while watching this. The weirdest must fucked up dream ever! Thankfully it was made better by Jesse's laughter sprinkled in every few minutes.
I don't have epilepsy, but I appreciate you giving the warning. Thank you for that and then the great content!
Rutger Hauer
, may you rest in peace!
Love that they completely missed the hanging corpse in the room with "remove your implants"
The little touches with how Janus has trouble talking, little twitches and etc just to give him more personality.
Oh there is also John DiMaggio (Bender, Smiling Jack ) doing voice acting, cool.
2 Nd a half hours til I find out if I'm going to college, thanks for the distraction Jesse ❤️
i did it boys i goin to coleg
LegendOfRian congrats dude!
Perhaps you should learn to type in coherent English first.
@@ScorchHellfire It seems you perfectly understood what they said, just as I and other people who read it did, therefore they already are coherent. To be coherent is to be understandable. Also, the only thing they did was forget the a in the word “and”, so if you have trouble deciphering what they said, that is on you. Don’t be stuck up when people are just typing casually on the internet; It doesn’t matter.
3 years later, I hope college is going and/or went well for you, if that’s the route you decided to stick with! :)
When the narration kicked in at the beginning I thought SGS had a very bizarre special guest for a minute
Man I got school tomorrow, but I do love me some scary game squad.
School already? in August? where do you live?
Same. It's 3:25 here and my bus leaves at 7:35.
I'm supposed to be a responsible adult, dammit.
@Joseph Cain I live in Florida. I think my school is one of the last to start back up here.
This year in Poland school starts on September 4thxD but only this year. Normally it starts on September 1st
^ Same in Czechia with Semptember 4th, fortunately i'm going to university this year so I have whole september just for me to enjoy. :D
Love how into it they all are. Reading the entire articles haha love it
Completely hooked right now!!
This looks so awesome
When Jesse uploads I literally drop what I'm doing to watch. I love this series to death. Much love to Jesse and the boys
When they say “oh hi Mark” and that’s your name. Lolol
Just sitting here making my DIY solar eclipse viewer last minute, better procrastinate more by watching SGS...
Did u go blind?
Wishin' you would give the controller back to Jirard. You're a detective... Supposed to stop and investigate things. Shouldn't have to tell Davis to look at something every 5 seconds; but he does keep flailing about trying to blaze past stuff. Bound to miss a ton of lil details that way.
This is probably my all time favorite theme for movies, games, etc. This game is so cool
I gave the video a thumbs up for the classy warning at the start that shows Jesse genuinely cares for the health and safety of his audience, I watch the video from start to finish because these lovable goobers are hilarious.
Fitting the individual in room 101 was having a "procedure done," a nod to 1984 which they referenced earlier. Really interesting game so far.
God damn it guys, literally the first courtyard that is not a straight corridor and you guys IMMEDIATELY get lost. Amazing
yeeees i was waiting for this
also, thanks for the epilepsy heads up!
I have to say, scary game squad has become the best thing on your channel. I love it!
Ugh I didn't hear anything wrong with his voice until you guys pointed it out
the sound at 42:20 sounds like the old silent hill games when you pick up an item
I love these 4 mofos so much, never change my dudes!
I like how you've instantly forgotten that e-mails exist and miss half the lore.
once in my life I wanna scroll down on an SGS video and not see a single scrap of backseat bitching
That's the part of the experience. You'd have to watch SGS starring different people. Bitching about bitching doesn't make you any better ;).
Oh thank goodness, I was really really hoping they would be doing this game. It is sooo freaking good.
1:30:51 The Jennifer Lopez movie you're thinking of is called The Cell. One of my favs. :)
I CANNOT fucking believe how spot on some of these speculations are as to the actual plot of the game. Even just in a spitballing sort of way where you say anything and some are right. The accuracy of their speculations is amazing
Tbf 3 out of 4 of them have film degrees so they're very familiar with story writing/development. Alex even used to write for game theory.
I can't wait to watch this scary comedy game squad movie
And I quote "I just hope it's not scary."
-Davis (Scary Game Squad: Observer)
[Did he REALLY just say that?]
{*faint sounds of me dying from laughter*}
[Wow]
Damn it! They've Incepted! Quick, everyone look at your totems!
I love these small games that exists within a game world.
But I'm also greatly amused by this hard boiled cop, investigating a recent murder possibly of or by his son, in a building in lockdown, that takes the time to play some video games in the middle of it all.
I love how on point the predictions were about the wolf guy
So excited! I cannot actually watch the screen for most of the game, but enjoying anyway!
How can they not realize that the green stuff is AR and sometimes the AR is not up to date and real walls are missing?
"OH THAT IS A THING! THAT IS A THING!"
God damn, I knew that jumpscare around 55:00 was gonna happen and it STILL got me. 😵
Hot damn, if the first few sequences doesn't remind me of SNATCHER.
The bioweapon crisis (Catastrophe), the detective/agent setup (Junker), and the beheaded corpse as your first crime scene (Jean-Jacques Gibson). All you need now is a smart-talking, cock-blocking Metal-Gear and several questionable flirt scenes.
And if they're taking Cyberpunk inspirations like it seems, I wouldn't count it out!
Okay i loved this but by the end of that mindjack sequence i was literally saying out loud “FUCKING END ALREADY”
Anyone else notice Bob and Irene have half an old Nokia flip phone as their door interface. Those two lovebirds are clearly Cyberpunk hipsters.
Damn, I didn't know Rutger Hauer was that famous outside of the Netherlands. I know him as this Robin Hood kind of knight he played in a series in the 60's and know he's in a horror game. The more you know.
