  • Though I have no compunction about putting affiliate links in the video description or capitalizing on commercial endorsements in general, I made this video motivated entirely by frustration.
I was becoming increasingly frustrated with trying to find an online video tutorial that matched a readily available product in my area for attaching things securely to a hollow core door.
The plastic TOGGLER™ TA hollow door anchors shown in this video can be purchased at any Home Depot in Canada or the US in packages of 5 for just a few dollars. This is true despite the fact that their website may not even show this product.

Good job and exceedingly well presented. In viewing such videos there seems to be a choice between these plastic anchors and the metal EZ Anchor. You have convinced me to go with these plastic ones having seen inside the door. They clearly provide far more backing to take the torque of the mounting. Thank you.

This was excellent from an instructional standpoint. Recommend streamlining the end reel.

This is the way to go, I just used the Confast ZIZ8KWS50 zinc anchors for drywall and one of them spun inside of the bathroom hollow core door. It is possible I hit the area that had the previous robe hook hole. The other zinc anchor tightened up nicely.
    Great demonstration, thanks!

Seems like over time with frequent tugging the metal screws in the plastic sleeve would lose grip. Metal better?

The thin wall of the hollow door is more likely to give before the anchor ever will, regardless if it is metal or plastic. Having said that, I was not able to make a comparison between the two in this video due to the prohibitive costs of the metal anchors.
I can say however that the towel rack shown in the video was mounted on the side of a kitchen island built from hollow doors and has been used daily without any issues ever since.
