This is the smooth-cast 300 that I refer to as the liquid plastic! Smooth-Cast 300 - Bright White,... www.amazon.com/dp/B004BN7G0E?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Hello! Quick question: what exactly are you using there mentioned liquid plastic? Urethane or epoxy? Because when urethane, i can't believe that it sticks to petg very well. The only thing that worked for me was XTC3D as a coating and reinforcement on petg.
I had that comment a lot! I initially started painted the leg silver, but when I dove deeper into the research I learned that the red armed version of C3PO has two gold legs! Imagine my surprise. 😲
I get why your using the resin to coat the inside. Definitely strengthens things up. But personally, when I’ve done it, it doesn’t need as much as your flooding it with. Brushing it on in thin layers is much easier and more controlled- mix a little up, brush it on, wait to set, then repeat. 🤔🤷
It was my first time using the product and I appreciate you sharing your experience with it! Haha I guess my brain wanted to make it indestructible (impossible I know). On the chest specifically, flooding it with the liquid plastic really helped with the sharp tails that were sticking up from the plastic staples (from cutting them off before I realized they snapped off).
@@RGBrea Have you ever considered fibreglass? You could get a vinylester resin (I use a VER4000 I think) which is relaxed to work with compared to epoxies. It's super easy to apply (think paintbrush to wet out the fabric) and nice and strong.
Also fun fact, his leg color changes depending on where we are at in the C3PO timeline. At the time of the red arm both legs are gold, but you are totally right that there are many instances where the one is silver. He is a gorgeous droid in every part of his timeline 😍
I have seen beautiful versions where c3PO is super shiny and I thought about that approach. What had me pivot was reading Anthony Daniel’s book “I am C3PO”. When he spoke of the first C3PO it was so shiny on set that it caused all sorts of issues with camera reflections, sun, etc and they went out of their way to dirty and dim the reflections. Knowing that I would be wearing him in a convention setting where there would be so much that could be reflected I opted to go with a non-chrome gold. Perhaps the other would have looked better, but that was some of the thoughts behind the choice.
@@AdamMclardy I shared this a long while back on my TikTok, but I was one of the many kids who grew up with a speech impediment and that was a huge hurdle that I worked to overcome. So people disliking an aspect of how I speak is not something new for me, but as an adult feeling comfortable with who I am and my own voice has become a personal victory. This is the smooth-cast 300 that I refer to as the liquid plastic! Smooth-Cast 300 - Bright White,... www.amazon.com/dp/B004BN7G0E?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@@RGBrea You dropped a lot of knowledge in this video, it was really excellent!
Hello! Quick question: what exactly are you using there mentioned liquid plastic? Urethane or epoxy? Because when urethane, i can't believe that it sticks to petg very well. The only thing that worked for me was XTC3D as a coating and reinforcement on petg.
What brand of resin fillers did you use?
Do you need to do a liquid plastic coat?
Great build, but Isn't one of C3PO legs suppose to be silver?
I had that comment a lot on my short videos while making him and in many instances that is true! For the red armed c3po, both legs are gold.
In Europe we don´t have Bondo so I ´ll try wood filler and a sandable primer
Did you use the iPad just for notes or is there compatible 3D printing software?
I used the iPad just for notes. I do enjoy using it for Nomad Sculpt or Shapr3D for iPad 3D modeling though. Great softwares for iPad use.
Sorry, where did you get the files to print them?
awesome!!!
as Darth said to Luke during their light saber fight, "impressive!"
Darth is a title, not a name.
I didn't see what brand of gold paint?
Sorry about that! I used Rust-Oleum Bright Coat Metallic Spray Paint. a.co/d/6tV6xcI
@@RGBrea thanks. Awesome.
Does anyone know what gold spray paint she is using?
Hi there! I used Rust-oleum’s bright coat metallic finish gold. I got it off on Amazon. Hope that helps! a.co/d/groj2c6
You can buy a brushable urethane resin from smooth-on.
Amazing job btw.
big respect for doing this- what a difficult costume to wear!
You got the left red arm right but forgot the right leg is silver. *gonk*
LOL there is my R2
fun fact C3PO has one silver leg
Also fun fact, his leg color changes depending on where we are at in the C3PO timeline. At the time of the red arm both legs are gold, but you are totally right that there are many instances where the one is silver. He is a gorgeous droid in every part of his timeline 😍
feel like this could have looked WAY better with gold leaf make it that shiny kind of gold
Perhaps the other would have looked better, but that was some of the thoughts behind the choice.
holy goat!
Great video, but you missed a trick not calling this "c-3Dpo"
Sorry I meant breanna

I really struggle to understand what you are saying sometimes ...
Which is why she has included subtitles.
@@luvz2reed 🤣
Hopefully the subtitles help! If you have any specific questions let me know or areas that felt a bit unclear.
Good luck with your channel! Please work on ending your "vocal fry."
Why? People talk how they talk
I am always working to improve to be a better communicator, but when I look back on the journey to get to here I have immense grace and gratitude for who I was at each stage of that journey. All that to say, practicing kindness is always appreciated and little kind comments do bring smiles. Yours might have been a small comment, but it did make me smile 😁
