CP3O has to be one of the hardest characters to get right in all of Cosplay. Just the physical limitations and constant threat of possibly falling down make it very tough. Add to that the mannerisms and real acting that go into it. Great Job!!
That's kinda why I'd rather save up for a good cosplay worthy Vader suit instead. Being six foot two, and a little wide shouldered, I would just pull off a far more convincing Vader than I would 3P0.

what if c-3po fell over, how would he get back up? i always imagined that the upper back power pack section of his body was some sort of rebounding device to bounce him back up on his feet. or maybe if he falls over he's just simply stuck and has to deal with it? or rely on another droid, human or creature to assist him?

+secrettangerine surely... many of the other alien of the wars-verse required robot more suited to their physiology? wookie-protocol robot would be of different shape, Talz protocol droid, and so... choose a species which is of a similar build, and retain different part you like of the original, though make the character your own, as you recognise your variant is different to the unimaginable proportion of either Anthony Daniels or Gordon Tarpley (hehehe). I have seen an "Ugnaught Protocol Droid", worn by a self-identifying 'midget' that was awesome also, as the 3P0 mask was modelled after an ugnaught... furthermore, if you can increase the degrees of freedom of motion, that would be excellent! more the hand or the arm actually telescoping with cams et loci (there are some video of the internals of the PETMAN 9 and 10, though not 11 or up) bonne chance, mon librepenseur!

I have a so many new ideas now and the whole thing sounds a lot more fun for me too
I expect that the reason there are so few C-3PO builders is that you have to be very skinny to fit in one of those suits. I'd like to build a 3-PO from the waist up and display him as a statue. Animatronic even maybe, that'd be cool. Alas, even at my skinniest I could never have fit in a 3PO costume.
Now all you need to do is rig up a small device that makes the servo sounds whenever you move your arms, head,legs or any other body parts...maybe triggered via wireless midi...that would complete the build.
Getting the microphone just right is going to be tricky, but maybe placing it not so close to the mouth (maybe by the ear would be better) would make it easier to understand the wearer. A detail-obsessed person might even have sensors at all of the joints that cause a mechanical "whir/whizz" sound to be made when he moves. Very very nice, though. JW3HH

I love the homemadeness of the whole original trilogy. for example Obi-Wan's lightsaber was made out of pieces like a ww1 rifle grenade, a water faucet knob, and a small compresser turbine from a jet engine

If I recall correctly the suit for RoboCop was pretty limited to the super skinny too. Peter Weller was perfect for it.
