Hi Melon This episode is an emotional one that Big sister and little sister moment between Toph and Katara is so sweet my second favorite moment in this episode is the conversation between Sokka and Toph it's a great moment that shows just how good of a sibling relationship Sokka and Katara have with each other But it's also hart braking because after there mom was lost Katara had to take on that place in her home Toph saying that she likes having Katara acting like a mom to her because it's like she saying I appreciate every part of her that includes their fight on a much a much happier thing I wish Hawky got to be in more episodes with Sokka but the moment we did get with him were cute
This episode takes me back to the scene at the very beginning back in the south pole when aang and katara go penguin sledding and katara says “I haven’t done this since I was a kid” and aang says “you still are a kid!” Katara had to grow up so fast and missed out on so much of just being a kid and getting to be carefree. As a kid watching avatar for the first time she was always my least favorite of the main characters because she was more serious and would be the one to tell aang and sokka to knock it off when they were being silly and was always getting emotional but now as an adult she’s easily one of my favorites because not only is she one of the most amazing benders and fighters in the show but you can really see how emotionally mature she is at such a young age. She’s got her own complex emotions and baggage and she’s still able to take care of the group and make sure everyone else’s emotional needs are being met. She’s dealing with so much internally all the time and she’s still the first to step up when someone needs her.
There seems to be a misconception that air nomads were goody two shoes. They were pacifists, but they were also tricky and secretive. Avoidant and flippant. They don't seem to have anything particularly against lying. My point is, Aang lies his ass of and nobody talks about it.

I have always liked Toph and I with they explored her emotional intelligence more. Her smarts don’t get enough focus. Also her apology is very mature for a stubborn and rambunctious twelve year old.
did no one think about teaching toph writing using rock carving ? like her family is rich they could've had books carved in stone, or (don't even need to be rich for this next idea) use mud as ink so she can detect the mud with earth bending? the real reason is there's jokes about her not bring able to read but still, in universe there's a bunch of writing done in stone or clay

Is she my favorite Character? Yes she is. Katara’s is the one who has the strongest heart in this show. You’ll see why she’s my favorite character soon. You saw her already in the dessert and in the end of season 2 when she brought back Aang after Zuko betrayed her. But this will go beyond and I’m so excited to see how you react to this. Could be she remembers the sides from the feel of them in her hands or she could be sensing the responses of those watching to know if she needs to intervene or not. There's plenty of possibilities it's just up to which one you like lol

I'm not certain, but I remember hearing this batch of episodes was produced during the previous Writer's strike, so they are lowkey weird and some characterization is a bit off because theywere written by different people.
Girl Katara 1000% acts like a mom, know it all and is a hypocrite lol. Toph had every right to go off at Katara cause she is her own person that makes her owm choices even if they are bad ones and if you think anyone is stopping Katara from doing whatever she wants wants to do you're wrong lol. Shes controlling! She can do what she wants but everyone else has to listen to her.
