Great job, Sir! You saved me from a cold winter! I just replaced the fan, resistor and blend door actuator. Vacuumed out all the leaves and debris that caused a fire! Go to crank up that new blower, and only had that weak defrost with 4 speeds. Watched your video, went and checked that hose and sure enough it was cut in two. Grabbed the heat shrink and it's working fantastic. This is my second XJ and I wish I had known this for my first, same problem. What a great post. Well done sir!
I thank you so much I have been dealing with vacuum line system for a long time chasing down, trying everything and then I washed your simple to the point video and it worked. Thank you again so much.
Hey, thanks for this! Same issue, located that vacuum tube (I didn't realize it would be so small!) and patched with a bit of shrink tubing. Took a few seconds of running, then it kicked back over to the front vents again.
It worked!!! In my case, once I trimmed the brittle tubing back, it was too short to reconnect, so I just used a slightly larger diameter piece of tubing to slip over the two vacuum line ends, and then shrink sealed everything together. So now the most delicate part also has a thicker stronger layer of tubing.
Yikes, I'm not sure where to find the internal line at the firewall. If I get a chance I'll see if I can hunt it down on mine. I'll update this if I can come up with anything that would help.
Is there a replacement to replace the whole line into firewall? If so would yal know if its accessible through glove box area or does the whole dash need removed?

I found the line by watching your video, found a crack right at the bend and put duct tape on it to seal it. It works!!!

Mine is broken off inside the firewall. I can’t find it on the other side

Sorry, I'm not certain what would be involved if replacing the entire line.
Fuck yeah! Thanks bro
