Ever since I first saw this lad I've been trying to remember what the aesthetic of the core truck mode reminds me of, and I've finally got it. It looks like something out of the Max Steel reboot, and, honestly, that show was preeeeetty good. Too bad about the live action movie though.
Imagine telling your doctor "Doc, we have a problem, my leg joint keeps rubbing against the ceiling of my crotch!" 😂 (I'll let myself out).
"Torpedo battering ram?" Be real man, that core robot vehicle mode looks like a shoe. A particularly cool-looking shoe, but a shoe.
I'm sitting in 2020 thinking how that Hyper Novae review would be a pretty nice distraction right about now...
Wait. Nova Prime is a bad guy? Oh wait. Now I remember because at the end of Transformers Devastation he was shown with glowing red eyes.

Did you know that the two katanas that the core robot comes with can actually glow in the dark when exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet rays?
I dig the new transform montage theme. Wish I had the money to buy this cause I love the look of it.
You're review made me cave in and finally but the bundle. I miss these kind of third party armor sets. I hope there are more in store for the future of 3P.
I know very little about 3rd party transformers toys beyond what little information is conveyed in Vangelus videos and I know even less about the two characters this toy is meant to be based on but I do know that I like transforming robot toys and this looks like a damn cool transforming robot toy too bad I would cost me $200+ to pick up. Please keep up the good work Vangelus for I have resigned to live vicariously threw you where cool expensive transformers are concerned for the foreseeable future.
I've said it before elsewhere. No one but James Earl Jones should be the voice of Nova/Nemesis Prime in any piece of Transformers fiction (Kevin Michael Richardson comes in at a close second!)

I'm willing to bet the 2 pack launch was a late decision and the translucent swords (which I'm pretty sure we've seen before) were an addition when they realized the standalone robot had nothing to wield.

I definitely find this guy a lot more appealing as a Prima than a Nova. Moot point as I have no money, but still.
what are some 3rd party figures that are 40-50 dollars that you would recommend?
there are none
Maybe some shape ways stuff? There's a couple $15 legends-scale figures like Rewind on there. You'll just have to paint them.
If you don't mind going on eBay and buying from a Chinese seller they'll usually have their third party figures 30-40% of the price you'll get from regular retailers just.
Just seen MMC calidus from a Chinese seller for 54$

But seriously though, great review as always. :) I wasn't really interested in this figure at first, as IDW Nova doesn't really fit on my Aligned-focused shelf, but now that I know he's a Prima homage as well, and given how I ADORE the Reformatted aesthetic, I'm going to seriously consider this. :D
hes somewhat of an prima homage if you want the sword for the hoamge cause that's basically the only homaging part of prima you can find...

I say it's Prima, not Nova Prime. Nova Prime never had the sword this has, nor the matrix of leadership. It's base mode kind of looks like Prima as well.
+RazielTheUnborn its based on IDW nova prime though plus just because he has a weapon like that doesn't mean hes not that character
+Jetfire48 Isn't just the weapon, it's the matrix in the chest as well. Nova never had the matrix. Borrows from Nova because no one knows Prima's forms outside of its core which, again this has some resemblance to.

+Jetfire48 Not all Primes are worthy of the matrix to use it and any bot can have the compartment. They just shift their parts around on the fly.
