    Everyone brings up this game and thinks hes a bust. Its so unfair to judge a guy on one bad performance. Hes been great overall.

    his arm is supposed to be so generational but I don’t see it

      PFF even had Fields' draft profile score rated higher than they have Williams.

    There are so many times where he needs to rip the ball into a tight window but ends up missing the window, holding the ball too long, scrambling needlessly, and doing the hero ball thing. He made some good plays, but this was a bad game overall. Not a fan of this offensive scheme either.

      Facts, bad QB execution and terrible play calling

      Honestly, I’ve been critiquing his game by counting how many completions he makes per game that are: in rhythm and past the line of scrimmage by 5+ yards. Usually he only throws ~7 per game. By *my* definition, that’s not a lot of times he’s efficiently pushing the ball down the field.
      That being said, in this game he threw 15+ completions that were being held to that standard. Well better than every other game I’ve watched. The raw numbers tell a different story, but I personally think the film in this game is more indicative of NFL success than any other game he’s played.

    Watched this and other games on this channel and dont see a Generational Talent. I just Swing passes, RPO, Him holding the ball to long, not Passing to the wide open guy for easy passes, Bad Sacks, Bad Fumbles, Bad throws on easy passes, in the Arizona game it was really bad same with Utah. These are some of the same Flaws ppl hate Fields for. I dont expect him to be perfect but the stuff I seen I can already see what will happen because it just happen with Fields. Hopefully he is developed and coached well.

    The only things that concern me is his lack of taking quick throws to his guys, but that could be a LR offensive scheme thing since there are so many deep and long developing routes... and he doesn't look for his check down far enough. some of the interceptions or sacks could of been avoided by just taking what the defense gives you. I fear that him having to play hero ball all year might have affected him in this aspect or at least for this game.

    I saw every snap from the 2023 season, his offensive line should be benched wholesale. I can't count the times where he had immediate pressure from 1 or 2 players most plays and in some it was total jailbreak.
    It reminded me of Bears OL in 2010 when Cutler got sacked 75 times. When you have to drop 40 on every opponent to win, he's going to look desperate from time to time. ND is a really good team. I've seen Tom Brady throw 4 INTs in a game. That doesn't define the man.
    Williams usually is very careful with the ball, something it seems he mimicks Aaron Rodgers who is the cleanest QB i've seen INTs wise.
    That being said, the NFL is harder. But he landed on a good spot. He isn't being thrown to the wolves like Bryce Young was last year.
    All this hero ball bullshit is what happens when you have the worst defense in big college programs. Even you look at highlights, USC is always 1 or 2 scores behind. They didn't let him keep a lead in 90% of games. And it wasn't like he was compromising the defense comitting a ton of turnovers. He needs to improve his ball security, but that is only an issue because his OL couldn't block a group of 10-year olds.

    I do remember he beat them the previous year when he had a better team. This was a shitty USC. Outside of CW in the draft from that team either didn’t get drafted or drafted really late

    • @Big10footballjunkies
      @Big10footballjunkies  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe that no other team was really interested in him. The Bears probably want an experienced back up QB for Caleb Williams to learn from. You wouldn't want a young QB to try and learn from another young QB who isn't getting the job done. Plus how much will Fields want to teach Caleb to help take his job?

    • @Big10footballjunkies
      @Big10footballjunkies  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @vidi2845 No other teams were offering a lot more. Bears clearly tried to get as much as they could and a couple other teams were interested. It sounds like they were similar offers and they asked Justin which he would rather play for and he chose Pittsburgh.

    I keep hearing player comps of Patrick Mahommes or Justin Fields (depending on whether you love or hate Williams), or occasionally Kyler Murray. The player he reminds me of most is Carson Wentz. A little shorter, but big, physical, and with all the arm talent you could ask for. But prone to playing hero ball, using his athleticism to scramble around and make plays rather than reading the defense and quickly getting the ball out to take what is there. The result can be a highlight reel run for a TD or completing an off-balance dime across the field. But against good defenses like ND, it frequently results in sacks or mind-numbing interceptions.
    I don't mean the comparison to Wentz as an insult, exactly. For a time, Wentz was having an MVP season and looked like the next big thing at QB. Then it all went off the rails for him. How much of that was on Wentz and how much was on injury or system, I don't know. Maybe with NFL coaching, Williams will be able to capitalize on his gifts and cut down on the errors. Or maybe NFL defenses will expose his shortcomings like ND did here.

      Pretty much but I think college play calling hs lead to that not that QBs in those systems can't take a snap under center.

    His game and style is Johnny manziel 10000% I see it. Huge fan of manziel growing up at A&M and he was blowing everyone’s mind after the Alabama game with the ability to break the pocket and extend plays. Go back and watch mahomes vs mayfield at Texas am, you’ll see a raw version of the player we see today. He wasn’t making these simple back foot passes and overshooting a tight ends head by 10 yards and throwing a pick the first drive. He went for like 500+ fucking yards. Caleb Williams is a day round 2 guy in all honesty. He will not put up impressive numbers in the NFL and much like Zach Wilson and Trey lance are regarded today I see him being much like that as well. A what if. Except this time it’s not due to the lack of talent around him, it’s just him.

    • @jaarc1437
      @jaarc1437 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Caleb for sure makes insane throws but he always has 3+ seconds to throw and he's chucking up ducks and scrambling for no reason. This game is the epitome of what he could look like vs NFL defenses if he doesn't clean that shit up. Every int in this game he has 3+ seconds and throws some horrible pass off his back foot to nobody instead of making the right play
