    What I find so interesting about the discussion around Fields vs. Williams is the fact that their college careers are so different. But people somehow use Caleb’s tape to say he’s a bust, while ignoring all the red flags Justin had when he was drafted from Ohio State. For all the negatives in Caleb’s game, you can find an equal amount in Justin’s tape too. And Justin played at a top-5 college football team that had NFL studs all over the place. Caleb has been dealing with a horrendous OL for two years at USC. The defense is essentially non-existent, and they have no good run game either. Yet he put up numbers that blow Justin out of the water, and a direct comparison of the tape is night and day if you take the time to really look at it.

    I think this game is evident how little Caleb's WR's helped him and its absurd that two of them MIGHT get drafted. Rice creates zero separation and on fade routes gives no room to win on throws. literally he's damnear running out of bounds on his fade routes and hitches. Unless this is by design, this is terrible.

    Well thanks for posting this. Bc I can't find really only a few games of Caleb Williams all plays. Mostly been thinking this guy looks like a superstar at times. It's kinda hard to scout this dude. But looking at Notre Dame and this game. Guys got a lot to improve on. Has a great deep ball and looks like a natural passer at first but there's something not complete. Def holding the ball and running around for no reason. Just looks inexperienced in the pocket at times like he doesn't no what to do with the football. He's looking down field for a green light but there no way Caleb is going to be able to dazzle around and play slow in the NFL. Just game looks lazy. Idk.... Not impressed. May have to rethink my evaluation with Caleb.

      @@matthix7403he's just like Justin Fields. I don't want him (bears fan here too). I pray to God we don't take him because it will be more of the same. None of his film looks like he's a player who can read a defense, make adjustments, confuse defenses, etc. Honestly I'd take Bo nix over Caleb Williams. I'm not saying nix would be my first choice. The only time williams makes big plays is with his legs or when a receiver is very wide open. You don't see him throwing in tight windows. I want someone like drew Brees for the bears. That's what we've always needed on this team. Cutler was close but not quite lol. The media for whatever reason chose this guy to hype up. They did the same with Tebow. They are fun to watch that's all. And they are good for the media because they give a lot to talk about.

      @@niveKOnBass i still think caleb has some elite qb potential. He holds the ball a little bit but i think the best of him hasn't really hit on yet. Caleb is a natural pocket passer. The only other QB I would take besides caleb would be spencer rattler. Way underrated. Cutler and Fields are almost the same in a way. Cutler couldn't read a defense either. I defended cutler forever but mike martz ruined him. Fields probably go to Denver or Seattle and put up Cutlers numbers

    • @DPMixing
      @DPMixing 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Some of what you said is true. As a USC fan, I’ll add some context. He was often running around looking for the bigger play because in the back of his head he knew his offense needed to score on EVERY single drive or his team was going to lose b/c his defense just could not get a stop. USC’s defense was ranked 120+ in the country in pts/yards given up this year and they fired their entire defense staff at the end of season. So to Caleb every possession was crucial and he often tried to force the home run because he knew his offense couldn’t punt a single drive or they’d probably lose. If you followed his career you’d understand why he had this mentality.
      He had multiple games where he played nearly perfect or would lead his offense to a late lead in the 4th quarter only to watch his defense let the lead evaporate away with a walk off TD/FG often in extremely unlikely scenarios (up with 2 scores with 2 mins left in the 4th). Also 2023 Notre Dame game was the single worst game of his career and he’s played nowhere near that poorly before or since. It’s literally his only multiple INT game in college. His OL was at it’s worst that game and he tried to force it so hard that for the first time he actually had a net negative performance for his team. But it was literally the one and only time he played that poorly. After that point in the 2023 season you could see his growth because he was a lot better protecting the ball, even when they fell behind and was trying to generate momentum for his team.

    No I’m not trading away Fields for this. Fields might have the stronger arm. Fields can throw some pinpoint passes as well. Fields is more dangerous off script. Caleb has a quicker release and might be more decisive which may lead to better accuracy and even slightly better and more consistent QB play than Fields. I can admit that but they both have a ton more upside. Fields has NFL experience, leadership, chemistry with Moore/Kmet, Chicago Tough, bigger, stronger, faster, better runner, stronger arm and still cheap for two more seasons. We can literally give Fields Harrison and Bowers/Nabors to work with. Plus another top 5 pick potentially next year and try to fleece Washington for Jonathan Allen ALL for Caleb. From what I just saw it’s not enough to move off Fields.

      You don't need to think he's bottom ten. He IS bottom ten. And he is unfathomably bad when it matters the most. Look up his forth quarter splits and trailing stats in the 4th. They are abysmal. What makes that worse is he has seen so much garbage time against defenses playing prevent and soft zones, but he still can't pad his stats. Fields definitely has elite arm talent and athleticism, but that's not his issue. Fields issues are between the ears. Slow processing, can't read coverages, can't make anticipatory throws. Brenden Rice is really good but I just don't get why people love Williams so much. He is so uncomfortable in the pocket and looks to get out of it as soon as the ball is snapped. The USC OL wasn't great but he tried to do too much too often. If I were teams I'd play him like how KC played the Ravens. Create a pocket and just collapse it and don't let him outside of it. He isn't very accurate and a lot of those big throws he makes are to wide open guys from blown coverage which will happen less in the NFL. He clearly has some talent but he isn't the God people make him out to be. If he goes to a team with a terrible OL like Washington then he is going to look like a bust real quick.

    Looks small and will be injury prone if he runs around like that in the NFL. His rhythm and timing based throws look mostly off in this game. I only see a few throws completed that are 2 seconds or less. Most of his completions he held it for about 6 seconds.
