    Excellent Florian.
One of these days I promise to get myself back to playing ragtime piano. You are an inspiration and make it look so easy.

Absolutlely love this one, which has inspired me to learn a little about Tom Turpin.
The opening section sounds like it should be repeated .. ? (It appears subsequently of course.)

It's actually a composite. This arrangement is based on the Tyers arrangement, and it is nice to have the occasional reminder that an attempt was made to bring Harlem Rag into the contemporary norm for the late 1890s. However, there is one big reason that the Tyers arrangement is largely ignored as published, and even this version is not as it was published in 1899. The Tyers arrangement is not entirely by Turpin: its B section is new material by Tyers, and rather uninspiring. Here it is replaced by what is obviously Turpin 1897 material. Listen again to the Tyers arrangement and notice that the B section deviates too far from even Turpin's 1897 C section (the one Turpin begins on E7) to warrant that the section is by Turpin.

great performance of one of my favourite rags - my only suggestion is that you hit the keys a bit harder and don't use the pedal at all - (Tom Turpin was a big man and played the piano standing up.)

Is it possible to play ragtime nicely without the sustain pedal? I tried many times before and it always sounded too choppy.

Für meinen Geschmack, ein bischen zu "interpretiert". Aber technisch sehr beeindruckend!
