Hi! Great video so far, really understandable and clear! I have a question though if lets say there are not enough players and there are only 3 players, how would we setup the tiles instead?
Hello! I regularly play 3 player mahjong with my mother & grandmother and though the rules may vary from house to house, here is the general way to arrange the tiles. The north wind tile (北风), the tiles numbered 2-8 of one of the suits (usually bamboo), and the 4 season tiles are removed from the board. There are two ways to arrange the walls. The first way is to make four walls, with the banker/庄 (east player) and the opposite player having 14 tiles on their wall and the other two walls having 13. The other method which I prefer is to have all three players make a wall of 18 tiles.
The north wind round is not played either, meaning that only 3 winds are played. Each player has a turn being the banker and it is the seats move after each hand is played. The scoring system does differ from standard 4 player mahjong but the method of completing the hand through chi, pong, and kong remains the same. I do encourage you check out the Wikipedia page for three player mahjong for all the specifics on scoring. Good luck and have fun! I'll try my best to answer any further questions you have :)
What happens if right before a draw the last tile drawn is a bonus tile? You must leave 15 tiles untouched but you also always have to replace a bonus tile immediately by showing and drawing. Which takes precedence in this case?
Our common practice is not to draw the replacement tile, so keeping the wall at 15 tiles takes precedence. But some house rules may be different, so it's usually up to the host!
Hi. Let's say that I play $1/$2. Right from the start, I get all the 4 animals. How much is the payout? Also, let's say I get all the 4 animals only in the middle of the game. How much is the payout?
So there are 15 tiles in the dead wall instead of 14 in Singapore rules? 所以星麻的王牌是15张而不是14张?
this is such a clear explanation video! also loving the streams, keep it up!
Is there a Part 3 to the tutorial??
Hello!! Thanks for thisssss, is there a part 3?? :(
Hello ...i find that your tutorials are very well explained and illustrated. have you got the part 3 tutorial?
We are still in the midst of editing :
Part 3 still not uploaded?
You mean "count from left" 7 tiles right, not right. @0:43 from east wind perception. Thats confusing.
