Mt. Guyot has always fascinated me because of its remoteness and isolation. I wish I lived in Western NC so I could hike these beautiful mountains whenever I wanted!
I did most of this same route this past summer but spent the night in my hammock at the Tricorner Knob shelter. I’m impressed you did that and more on a day hike. I couldn’t see a way up Mt Guyot without bushwhacking.
Congrats to Tom and Henry! Loved reading of the poem and toast! Brought back great memories! My son and I bagged 6 of the SB6K peaks, including Mt Guyot, when we backpacked all of the AT through the Smokies this past June. Since then I completed the SB6K challenge. My last peak was Blackstock Knob. It will be one of my most memorable peaks since I was accompanied by my 8 year old granddaughter.
Great video Zachary, looks like a beautiful area to hike. Thank you very much for taking us with you, I really enjoyed watching and I appreciate the work and effort you put into your production, as I create hiking videos myself and I know how hard the work can be. Well done. Best wishes, Mario
Very nice video, Zach. I did the same trek last year to bag Yonaguska, and it about broke me! I have done all of the SB6K except Chapman and Sequoyah by day hikes, and dread the 25 mile day hike to get the last two.
@@bigzach322 I was actually thinking of coming in from Pin Oak Gap on the Balsam Mountain trail. I was thinking that Tricorner was too far. So you think that coming in from Tricorner is betteer than Pin Oak Gap?
@@davidconley4726 If you start at Pin Oak Gap you will follow the Balsam Mountain Trail directly by Tricorner. I never mentioned Newfound Gap. I thought you were comparing my route via Cosby/Snake Den Ridge vs Pin Oak Gap as the starting point to get to Chapman and Sequoyah.

Very cool Zach. I loved your video. Iv hiked the entire A.T through the smokies but never summited guyot. Thanks for taking us along.
Enjoyed your guys walk. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thank for these videos, definitely looking forward to hiking more often. I like when you show the ranges and talk about the past hikes, good times!!
Thanks!

There is no trail up to Mount Guyot, but there are easy and hard lines. I've managed to do both, both times I summited.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing the summit celebration. Loved the toast/poem. Stay safe and Happy Trails!
It's not often I reach a significant summit with other people, thought it was a cool way to celebrate their accomplishments.

That shouldn't be that bad, mostly flat AT walking from Tricorner.

@@davidconley4726 Yeah that might be easiest. Lots of miles but not a lot of elevation gain. You pass by Tricorner that way too.
Did you mean Newfound Gap, or Tricorner?

What's the app you've been using at the end of your videos that tracks your hike in 3D?
It's Google Earth, I make that manually with my GPS track.
Gee not guy.
