Thank you so very much. Incredibly appreciated. Me and Pawel already have some plans in the works in a few weeks' time, and if all goes well, there should hopefully be an awesome video or two from it. So keep an eye out toward the end of February if I don't get a day trip in before that. Tight lines and thanks again.
Thanks very much. There might be a bit of a gap but plans were made and hopefully if all works out we will have a good one coming up. Tight lines till then
You have made my day. The good news is that Pawel and I made some plans on this trip for the next trip. A big one and I will film it if all goes well weather wise. So probably a bit of a gap in between but more coming. I'll see if I can edit that salwater one in the meantime. Thanks so much for the support.
Beautiful river and some awesome fish. Good to see you're back posting. It's mid-Winter in the US and I'm anxious to get back out on the river. Watching enjoyable fishing videos will have to do for now....
It was good to fish and film again and we have more planned. So hopefully that will help get you through the winter. Only a month till till the start of spring right?
Great wild fishing. I sympathise with your falling around in the river. I started using pants that you can put knee pads in and if I don't have high boots on I sometimes wear a thick neoprene wrap on my lower legs.
Something else I thought of is to find a seamstress to sew a pocket onto your favourite fishing pants and then put the foam knee pad in when you want. That is the arrangement for the pants I use and several other brands from Scandinavia. Another bonus is some of them have a material that stops blackberry/bramble holes.
I'm glad to see you uploading videos and that you've got 15,000+ views in 12 days. People have obviously missed you. Neat to see you offering advise on Chris' channel about the rubbber band as a hook keeper for your second fly.
Thanks so much. It's good to be back making stuff, and I'll keep doing so as and when I can. I have a couple of plans already, so hopefully, there will be some more before the end of summer here, so keep an eye out. Chris is cool, and that channel has some great info and videos. I have been following his photography exploits on DP Review and now Petapixel for years as well. Would love to go fishing with him one day.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing Hard case. Bugger - pity I didn't notice you guys, it would have been good to catch up. Weren't the fish were in stunning condition!
I used my 6wt Primal bold with 6wt Airflow ridge line, but normally, I would just use my 5wt setup. Unfortunately, I broke the foot of a guide on that rod, so I had to use the 6wt. I was fishing 4x tippet.
Thanks man, yes Pawel does love his fish pond stuff. I don't think it's a carbon net, more like a hard plastic but it's a nice net. Fish lay nice and flat in it.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing awesome! I am planning a trip out of Rotorua (North Island) Wed, Thurs poss Fri (the days after Waitangi). If you are free and fancy it you're welcome to join up. I have a few good spots 👌🏽🙏
Thanks!
That's awesome. Thank you so very much!
Great to see you and Pavel fishing together again - you make a wonderful team - please keep the videos coming - many of us really do love your style…

I think Pavel needs a bigger net. So glad to see another video from you…they are some of my absolute favorites

Hi Johan, very nice takes of Pavel hooking lovely fish. Glad to see you still practicing your long range release technique! Cheers mate. Harera
Thanks very much. It's always funny when I have the dropsies when I am filming. At least it means it should be fine the next trip 🤣 tight lines.
Thank you for making my day, such great videos!
Glad you like them and great to hear it made your day. Tight lines
nice to see you back good video as always
Thanks so much, glad to be back making something again. Hopefully not as long between videos this time.

The knee pads sound like a good option. I have seen similar with shin guards used by competition fly fishers. Might have to get myself some.

Glad you back johan.... fantastic episode
Thanks Haydn, much appreciated. I'm glad I finally made a video. It's been ages. Hopefully I can get a few more out this summer.
Nice to see the vid mate, love that water! Cool rainbow/ brown duet! 😊
It was neat to have a double fishing pretty much 20m from each other just up different current lines.
Nice! A long time between drinks!! Great edit - I was just downstream from you a couple of days ago - will also be my first YT clip for a while.

great river nice video!!!!!!
Thanks, it's an awesome river as you know well.
What staff is Patel using there Johan? Thanks
I actually don't know to be honest. I know he has at least two different ones. I'll ask him to reply when he can at some stage.
What gear did you use (line/rod weight) to catch these huge wilds?
I used my 6wt Primal bold with 6wt Airflow ridge line, but normally, I would just use my 5wt setup. Unfortunately, I broke the foot of a guide on that rod, so I had to use the 6wt. I was fishing 4x tippet.
