- Can God really love goths? VICE’s Jak Hutchcraft stumbled across a bible study group for metalheads, punks and goths and then spent time with them to see how they manage to combine their love of dark, gothic imagery and heavy music with a Christian lifestyle.

@@viviennebaptiste Meeting my Christian (goth) husband was a huge factor. He was never preachy, but sympathised with everything I had been through, so he simply led by example.
These are the things that freed me from darkness:
Accepting Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
Obeying all of God’s commandments.
Talking to Him daily.
Studying His word daily (we use a Strong’s Concordance to transliterate the original Hebrew and Greek words).
Quitting all of my vices (witchcraft, deception, manipulation, hypocrisy, cursing, stealing, alcohol, smoking, drugs, pornography, etc).
This is the path my husband and I have taken and we’ve never been happier. It took a total of five years before I was fully free of the devil having any control over me.
@@emilyelenaelson that is beautiful, I consider myself a dark saint( i think the term Christian is over used and the meaning is lost, so I go by saint). I simply just see beauty in the dark things, and ofc black is my favorite color. How would you describe this? Because God is Light but I do love the dark and the night and the gothy aesthetic. Love vamps, skulls, all of that. But I also love Jesus but idk how to even explain this. Not just the physical but I see the "darker" side of God the side that people don't want to know about. People only want to hear that God is loving but they don't know that He is holy, He's just, He doesn't take nonsense, He's the truth and he won't change it for anyone( this is the side of God I believe I represent and I am very familiar with)
Lol you just described my life. I was tired of witchcraft because this kind of power can drive people insane and after all it's just an illusion that keeps you away from the right path, so I chose to study Christianity and follow God. I started praying for my friends because they had a lot of problems and believe it or not, everything got better. I'm not doing this for heaven, I don't expect a reward. It's actually because I need to find a way to forgive myself, find peace.

The Gothic person can have even more faith in God because he/she went through the good and the evil and see the difference clearly and better than a normal person.
Calling other people that aren't "goth" "normal" is doing a disservice to the "normal" folks and the "goth" folks... Just saying
I’m Catholic and I wear mostly band shirts, khaki dickies, jeans, all Black doc martens. I go to local shows all the time and listen to any band if their good. If before anything you identify with your faith and it’s teachings, nothing will lead you astray if you really believe in your faith.

The Gothic, Metal, and Punk subcultures are music based, not defined by worldview and belief. I'm a Christian and been a Goth for decades. Keep in mind, God, as creator, created night, the moon, the stars, bats, spiders and all the lovely things Goths enjoy...including the ability to hear lol its a celebration of the uniqueness of our creator.

you don’t actually have to pick sides, i was born and raised christian and im a believer to this day and throughout my teenage years i really loved metal and punk music and often felt conflicted since a lot of the bands i liked mentioned things i knew were against my beliefs as a christian but i still enjoyed the sound of these bands and it actually made me grow in faith more since on one side i was religious and on the other i knew i enjoyed music that was often anti religion but still managed to keep my beliefs and not follow the rest. and there’s also a plenty of bands that don’t necessarily use satanic symbolism etc. music is music - it can be powerful if you let it be. you can also enjoy it for the sake of the sound, you don’t have to automatically follow the entire mindset behind it
You do unfortunately have a pick a side! But that doesn't mean you can't wear black or like leather jackets or have to dress like a pilgrim! However, as you become transformed by the Holy Spirit you will start to show a change in your attitude and behaviour, that includes what you wear. Read your Bible! I know it's hard to be corrected by God, but we must read and trust it. (By the way, I am secret Christian Goth on the inside, but celebrate life and light, not death!😉).

Christianity is one of the most metal and dark things in existence. This is why it’s so easy for Christian Metal bands to achieve that same dark concept as secular metal bands.
I remember my days as a Muslim, I would always listen to black metal and music that would blaspheme Christ (the spirit of Baal) was always with me. Then I became a Christian and I suddenly stopped liking this stuff, I like industrial music but I wouldn't listen to a song with blasphemy, in the same way Satanists wouldn't listen to gospel music.
Music is not even permissible in Islam to begin with and blaspheming Christ or any other prophets of the scripture makes you a disbeliever.

I've always liked metal, but as I'm maturing and growing older... I find that I'm growing closer to conservatism and religion, and metal/goth at the same time. Maybe its because nowadays, both of those things are aligning more and more with "rebel" compared to society, and deep down I'm an individual...?... this will take more thought.

Goth and the metal scene is different.. I mean they’re dark but different. Goth came out of the punk scene. Besides the music scenes bottom line God loves everyone.

Thread Bomb Uhm no. Human and sin are two different and separate things. Humans weren’t really sinful from the start, from the moment they were made. That’s why God is ready to forgive anyone who repents regardless of how heavy the sin they committed.

I was a Church of Satan follower (not member) and the only thing I knew of Christianity was Mormonism and Catholicism, I did not know the God of the Bible. As a teen I was heavy into the Goth seen (long before it was popular, in the late 80's) and into the occult and everything dark. By that time I was in my 30's I was attending AA because I had a drinking problem. There, I stopped being a Satanist. After I was sober for a year, I accidentally found biblical truth while looking into all types of regions, and Christianity grabbed ahold of me because it was the only one that was different. It wasn't works based, like Morminism and Catholicism, like I thought it was, andlike every other religion was, it was the only one that convicted me of sin, rather than telling me to pick myself up, it broke me down. Once I knew I was guilty, I begged for forgiveness and believed. I was Born again. Now, the only music that I listen to is made by Christians. I listen to Lacey Sturm - she dresses goth I guess, lol, but her words show me that she is born again like I am. I only dress like a regular person because the bible tells me to avoid the appearance of evil. So I do. If Jesus died for the sins of a wretch like me, than he died for you too! Compare yourself to the 10 commandments, in light of what Jesus said: If you have looked with lust, you are guilty of adultery in your heart. If you have hated someone, you have committed murder in your heart. If you have told a lie you cannot untell that lie and you are a liar, if you have stolen anything, you are a thief. You cannot undo these sins, we are all guilty of them. The wages of sin is death. You deserve death, we all do. But the gift of God is eternal life. Realize that you are guilty and no longer want those sins on you and want to power to not do them anymore. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is God and can forgive you of your sins, He died for those sins on the cross, the forgiveness is free for all who will believe and call upon His name. Do this very next time you are alone. Realize, Repent, Confess, Beleive. He will forgive you if you are honest and sincere, and the Holy Ghost will come and live within you and you will be born again.
Goths and Metalheads are different. Why do people get confused with Goths and Metalheads.

Ive been a metal listener since early 20s. Nowadays I lean more towards gothic music, such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, clan of xymox, etc, but Im also a huge fan of Dio, and I occassionally still listen to metal

Based. God bless them. Its definitely an odd situation. But at the end of the day, i think God knows are hearts. And he knows we just like the sound of the music and the imagery to a certain extent. I think Christians are reclaiming our history. When you look at all those gothic cathedrals and monks in robes, castles, candles dimly lighting stone walled monestarys, knights in armor, all that stuff is literally christian stuff. Its not evil. It wasn’t created by atheists or pagans. It was created by Gods people. The Bible is VERY metal. And its also very hippie, and its goth. Its Loving, conservative, Metal, Goth, Flower Power, all rolled into one. And much more. The moment you accept Christ is bliss.

Could have been a good and informative documentary (if long enough to call it that) but was just a bunch of inane questions really and a chance to read out (oh so) shocking lyrics purely for effect and to hope for a certain kind of response. Well done to the interviewees though who gave adult answers whenever they were able. Disappointed. Very.

Is it really that hard to separate the ungodly from Goth? as a baptized Christian Victorian Goth I say no. You can wear a suit and tie, dress shoes and cologne and be satanic.
There was a lot of satanic imagery in this video, so I’m questioning what the message is. As a former Satanist and avid death metal head, I’m not sure they were totally conveying the right message. It seems like they were saying one thing but presenting another. Skulls are not associated with God or anything good. I’ve never been into gothic music, but I like the style of clothing and home decor. Leave anything demonic out if your life, and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Wearing black is a beautiful thing.

What they don’t know is the spiritual judgement that is said in the Bible. What is said in the Bible is said and there’s no other way to change or add anything because the Bible is God’s words.
