Birmingham Christmas Market is now the UK's largest outdoor Christmas Market.
Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is a firm fixture in the city’s annual calendar and a massive favourite with both residents and visitors to the city from across the UK and Europe. Birmingham comes alive every winter with the arrival of the Market, a clear sign that Christmas is just around the corner. The stalls on Victoria Square and along New Street offer something for everyone.
The largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market offers a large range of traditional good and gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink. Pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds will tempt your tastebuds, all of which can be washed down with gluhwein, weissbeer (wheat beer), or tasty hot chocolate.
A great place to meet up with family and friends and enjoy the live music programme on Victoria Square. And whilst you’re here why not pick up some presents for your family and friends with everything from handcrafted wooden decorations and delicate glass baubles to in the form of the ever-favourite crystal lamps, Sounds of Nature, hand-crafted leatherwork, toys, jewellery and much more besides!
Dates: Thursday 4th November to Thursday 23rd December 2021 (inclusive)
Opening hours: 10am to 9pm daily. Except Remembrance Sunday (14th November) when the market will be open from 1pm - 9pm
Where: Victoria Square and New Street
Christmas is just around the corner when the German Market arrives. It is the centrepiece of the city’s festive offer, with great food, warming drinks, traditional gifts and live music,. The Frankfurt Christmas Market attracts visitors from across the city and the UK.
The tour starts in Chamberlain Square and the Museum and Art Gallery, past Birmingham Town Hall and into Victoria Square. We then head down New Street to the Bullring open air market, then along High Street to the other Christmas Market at St Philips Cathedral before heading along Colmore Row and back towards council house and Victoria Square and then finishing off where we started outside the amazing Dishoom Indian Restaurant after this full walking tour of Birmingham Christmas Market!

Love Birmingham. Living in OZ I have never been there, but all my ancestors lived there until my grandparents left over a 100 years ago.
Hubby and I were born and raised in Brum and left for Canada in 1969. Canadian Immigration was on the 19th floor of the Rotunda building, way back then. His childhood was spent every Saturday, at the bull ring market, buying from the fish stalls. My first Saturday job was at Lewis's on High Street. We just spent a wonderful time down memory lane, thanks to your beautiful filming. We have never seen Brum look so clean and inviting as this. Thank you so much for this and we have now subscribed.
I'm very impressed with Birmingham, I've never been before, I've watched all your tours, we watch them on the tv so can't comment on there. The Christmas Market is great.

Thank you for this video. I lived in Brum for 15 years and though I am not a city person, Birmingham is a great place to live, it was vibrant then and obviously still is. A lot of that is also down to the Brummies who live there. The people are great they make the city what it still is and always has been.

Great tour around my lovely city. I was disappointed though that you didn't get to Centenary Square where the ice rink, big wheel and City Flier rides are plus the Symphony Hall and Convention Centre!

Great video! Just to note the Gusto Restaurant you filmed, well that building is the Grand Hotel that only re-opened last year after being closed nearly 20 years! Birmingham’s only 5 star hotel It first opened in 1879! They have done such a great job you would of loved the interior and the ballroom, pop inside and ask for a tour on your next visit! 😊👍🏻

Great walk through Brum. I moved 15 years ago to Dundee🤨 and it’s not a patch on Birmingham. So much has changed will definitely have to visit in 2022!
I'm a born & bred Brummie & worked the Frankfurt Christmas Market for 12 years, was lovely to see my city again, I swopped that vibrant hustle & bustle for a much more sedate life in Norfolk 8 years ago ... I may visit again one day 🐂

Beautifully filmed Gimbal! I love this Christmas Market! How did I ever miss not going to this festive, decorated market?! Yes, the traditional German stalls, but all decorated in their own unique way. I was quite impressed! So many people there. Was this filmed during the week or weekend? I loved the old buildings especially at the beginning. The way they have included new buildings amongst the old is working! Bless you again, another stunner! :)

I’m a Brummie born and bred. Am 73 years old now living in Sydney Australia. I remember a big black bull tied to the railings at the Lord Nelson statue when I was 3 years old.
Great 👍 video brought back lots of memories. Haven’t been there for nearly 3 years now. Every year me and my friend used to go to German market. Eating and drinking on the side of the stalls, chitchat, laughing and messing around was a fun time for us.

You should have carried on walking past the fountain to centenary sqaure, the ice rink and Ferris wheel is situated there also the bars and restraunts off broad Street, but hey ho that's another video I suppose

Frankfurt German Christmas Market had started as a one off event in 1997 and eversince then it bacame an annual event, ive been living in Birmingham for more than two decades now and its really an amazing and lively city next to London

Amazing... Absolutely stunning architecture, with a nice blend of old and new... I've always been worried about taking my family to Birmingham becuse of its reputation for certain types of crime which is a real shame because it looks like I've been missing out on visiting a beautiful city!
You’re worries are not unfounded, there are certain areas to avoid, like any big town city I suppose!!

Near the start, you see a bridge crossing a street. Just beyond that bridge are some original tram tracks. The bridge is part of the Museum and Art Gallery, which is home to part of the Staffordshire Hoard. Well worth a look, but the place is currently being renovated.

Birmingham is not nice in areas and years ago city centre was a dump rubbish everywhere and old building and graffiti drugs and crime all over Birmingham not much has changed.

Great video,I love Birmingham,Great place to shop and visit.Good tip,Take a spare pair of comfy shoes for all the walking and stay overnight if you have the chance. Most of the larger shops used to stay open until 9 p.m which was great.

Birmingham looks great. I only went once when I was very young and got a record signed by Rupert Bear 🤣. The Christmas markets look quite spacious and spread out making them reasonably covid safe. I would love to browse round some of those shops.

Far smaller market in 2021, it’s doesn’t stretch through Chamberlain Square and no stalls in Centenary Square, and 1/3 of Victoria Square closed due to renovations. You picked a very quiet day for Birmigham, normally brushing shoulders just to get down the street at midday.

The biggest problem with Birmingham is that it has nearly no seating, I have back problems and need to sit down regularly, the last time I was there I and a friend sat down inside a shoe store, luckily the security guard was a Liverpool fan so we had a nice rest!

enjoyed this video mate, thank you. If you go for another walk, maybe catch Brindley Place, the big Raging Bull (surprised you missed the one in the Bull Ring) now in Centenary Square and the Great Western Arcade, Nr Colmore Row is worth a look too - mainly independent traders and some history.

The City is a modern cosmopolitan City with modern Buildings, if you think that is the City falling to bits you should of seen the City in the Sixties when I was a young boy, it was full of bombed out buildings and rebuilding work, the tallest structures in the City then were the high cranes re modernising the City Centre.
There was a camera crew there at weekend when we went tbey was also filming a commercial up one of the side streets
