Thank you. I am a York resident who is very proud of my City but due to my wife being very ill I am unable to get out and experience York and in particular the Christmas market. So this video has reminded me of what it’s like. Once again thank you

Did you know that 11 of the carillon bells at York Minster came from St Mary's Church in Nelson, Lancashire. They were sent to York when St Mary's closed in the late 80s.

They do everything so thoroughly in York, from the beautifully restored historic buildings to the market stalls, so well designed and built, you can clearly see it in the detail everywhere, it's no wonder York attracts thousands if not millions of tourists. Even the Christmas Tree is a real tree, not the usual boring artificial ones they put up in some cities. I grew up in York and emigrated to Australia in 1966 and I now realise that I should never have left. After about 50 years in Australia, it's time to go head home to my roots. Lovely to see the carousel in King's square. Thank you for a most enjoyable and memorable tour in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It would have been wonderful to see some footage of the Christmas lights during the evening.

It’s sad seeing the streets so empty, it’s about 4 years since we were last able to come at Christmas and everywhere was busy and bustling with people and atmosphere. I hope those days will return soon. When you were in the Shambles I didn’t see the tea and coffee shop? I think it was at one end, it sold all loose teas and coffees and had a wooden floor, it was like stepping back in time I love that shop, is it still there? The other shop I liked and I can’t for the life of me remember what street it’s on but I know it’s near one of the gates, it’s an Italian ice cream/ gelato parlour I had caramel apple pie ice cream it was absolutely delicious. I hope it’s still there!

Thanks for this video! It was reported in local media that they were going to put up large barriers to effectively seal off and control access to the city centre. (Knife arches and steel barriers). The picture I saw made York look more like an armed camp and for that reason I cancelled my usual December day trip to York. But I don't see any of this on your video so they must of changed their plans.
Beautiful city though; one of England's finest. I lived there for 15 years and still consider it home.

Hi, I live in York and there are some barriers up but they’re not intrusive and don’t spoil the atmosphere of the city.

    • @davemc9268

@@Emjem1973 Thanks Emma. It was on the YorkMix website. The picture or rendition they showed looked awful and they stated it would be Spurriergate, Lendal, Duncombe Place and then around the market I think. Nothing ruins a Christmas like having the 'were all going to die horribly' message shoved in your face. Especially as Chester, another big tourist destination has none of that.

If we are talking about York that is located in Great Britian, then I might be a bit afraid because I just watched that one video of Grain visitng York for inspiration for his base in Hermitcraft. 😐

Lovely video but not sure about the tagline on the merchandise. "Walk with a GoPro" or "when you explore" or something like that sounds so much better. I was like when you walk....where? What? I don't track notifications btw, just my opinions. 😄
